The fallout from CNN’s fake news continues

Good day all. Yesterday I wrote how CNN removed a story accusing President Trump of some bad deed or other. The story they posted literally blew up in their faces within hours.

In my post I quoted that CNN’s Human Resources department was now involved. Last night, the other shoe plummeted to Earth and landed with a solid “THUMP!” Three people involved in the CNN story have been terminated. Here are some of the details from The Washington Post:

Thomas Frank, a reporter for “CNN Investigates,” last Thursday appeared to have a compelling exclusive on the story of the year. The Senate Intelligence Committee, reported Frank, was investigating a Russian investment fund — the Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) — “whose chief executive met with a member of President Donald Trump’s transition team four days before Trump’s inauguration.”

And when the pinheads at the Washington (Com)Post read it, you know they just giggled with glee at another scandal involving President Trump. Unfortunately for the (Com)Post’s staff, that sence of euphoria didn’t last long.

The CNN exclusive — which hung from one unnamed source — didn’t take long to wither. Breitbart News’s Matthew Boyle bombed the CNN piece as baseless. Sputnik News published a refutation, indicating that the fund was not a part of Russian state bank Vnesheconombank, as the CNN report had claimed. This detail mattered a great deal, considering that Vnesheconombank was listed in a set of sanctions issued by the U.S. government. According to the CNN report, the Senate Intelligence Committee’s probe into this matter was linked to the meeting between top Trump adviser/son-in-law Jared Kushner and Vnesheconombank CEO Sergey Gorkov during the presidential transition.

Fake News at it’s best as only CNN could deliver it. As I wrote yesterday, I suspect that the CNN legal department got involved very quickly once it became known that the “story” posted by Frank was basically a fraud. Now the axe has been swung.

Now for the consequences. CNN announced on Monday afternoon that three network officials are leaving their jobs over the incident: Frank, the reporter on the story; Eric Lichtblau, a recent CNN addition from the New York Times who edited the piece; and Lex Haris, the executive editor of “CNN Investigates.” The moves follow an investigation carried out by CNN executives over the weekend, with the conclusion that longstanding network procedures for publishing stories weren’t properly followed. “There was a significant breakdown in process,” says a CNN source. “There were editorial checks and balances within the organization that weren’t met.”

The official CNN statement: “In the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on CNN.com, CNN has accepted the resignations of the employees involved in the story’s publication.”

I think the phrase should be “Were allowed to resign.” If they had resisted, they would have been flat out fired and utterly ruined, just like Dan “Fake but accurate” Rather and Mary Mapes. As it is, they’re going to have a very hard time finding a job with any “Reputable” news agency.

At a panel discussion Friday afternoon hosted by the Washington Press Club Foundation, CNN senior congressional reporter Manu Raju addressed these difficult journalistic times. “You just cannot screw up in this environment because they’ll use every small mistake to come after you and suggest that you have some nefarious motive in your reporting,” he said.

Mr. Raju misses the point. This was not a screw up, it was a flat out political assassination attempt on Donald Trump. The MSM despises Trump and has decided to do whatever it takes to bring him down. The problem here is that they can’t find anything. (Probably due to nothing to be found)

They are literally taking the smallest rumor, usually from a source with his or her own axe to grind and blowing it up without doing the actual investigative work that would have shown them that the information was bad.

Now news agencies do make mistakes. Usually these are easily corrected, and are used as a learning experience. However, what CNN, the (Com)Post and the New York Slimes have been doing is nothing less then flat out propaganda. Now CNN got caught and is going to pay the price.

Until the Mostly Stupid Media gets their collective heads out of their asses and starts doing real reporting again, they are going to have these problems coming up more and more. This is what happens when you don’t have news reporters any more. These days, they all refer to themselves as “Journalists.” That word is now becoming associated with the word Propaganda. These idiots did it to themselves. Now three more “Journalists” are out on the street trying to figure out where they went wrong.
