Good day all The Environmental Protection Agency was originally set up to help clean up polluted waters, air and land. In this, they pretty much completed their task 20+ years ago. At that point, the agency should have been dissolved or seriously reduced in scope.
Instead, they usurped more and more power that was never granted them by congress. Under Der Fubar, Barack Obama, they became, for all intents and purposes, a totalitarian secret police force bent on forcing people to bow to the Church of Global Warming Climate Change. Of the many things the EPA has done over the decades is order car manufacturers to increase mileage with no regards to safety or actual engineering. Now, under President Trump, the EPA is being forced to reconsider many of these regulations in the light of reality. Here are some of the details from the Los Angeles Times:
The Trump administration is poised to abandon America’s pioneering fuel economy targets for cars and SUVs, a move that would undermine one of the world’s most aggressive programs to confront climate change and invite another major confrontation with California.
Remember, that this story was written by Barking Moonbats of the Kalifornistan genus. This is why the wording sounds so odd to those with common sense.
The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to announce in the coming days that it will scrap mileage targets the Obama administration drafted in tandem with California that aim to boost average fuel economy for passenger cars and SUVs to 55 miles per gallon by 2025, according to people familiar with the plans.
The EPA, which lived for both junk and secret science prior to the Trump Administration, never bothered with anything like consultations with actual scientists and engineers. It would be physically impossible under current technology to achieve these idiotic goals. Of course, the real goal of the religious fanatics in the EPA was to force everyone out of their cars and into public transportation. It would make them easier to control.
The agency plans to replace those targets with a weaker standard that will be unveiled soon, according to the people, who did not want to be identified discussing the plan before it was announced.
How about ending these phony standards all together? They aren’t needed and are designed simply to generate more government jobs for swamp dwelling closet totalitarians. Automobile manufacturers are already working on new ways to increase mileage because that’s what their customers want.
The difference between what the Obama EPA goons ordered and what the auto manufactures are trying to do is timing and this thing called “Science.” Holding a gun to the head of an engineer or scientist and telling them to produce or else is something right out of the old Soviet Union. Of course, most of these fanatics infesting the EPA think Stalin had the right idea.
EPA chief Scott Pruitt has previously suggested that he thinks the targets are too onerous for manufacturers and inhibit them from selling the vehicles most popular with Americans. A climate skeptic, Pruitt has questioned mainstream science on the warming caused by greenhouse gases such as auto emissions.
And here we see again the Moonbat terminology rampant in the Mostly Stupid Media. Anyone who refuses to toe the progressive line on the climate is a heretic skeptic and should be ignored. As for what the American consumers might want? Well, in the eyes of the progressives, they are stupid and must be told how to live their lives. As for the so called “Main Stream Science,” propaganda sheets like the LA Slimes bury any story that goes against their religious beliefs, especially when it comes out that most of the “science” is fraudulent.
Whether Pruitt can weaken the rules for the entire country is an open question. California, with its history of smog problems and heightened vulnerability to climate change, has unique authority under the Clean Air Act to impose its own standard. The act also permits other states to adopt the California rules, and a dozen have.
Kalifornistan loves to impose it’s progressive totalitarian views on the rest of the country. This has needlessly increased costs for the other 290 million Americans and frankly, we’ve had enough. I have no doubt that as soon as the new regulations, (or the repeal of the original ones), is released, that treasonous scumbag of an attorney general will file yet another lawsuit with one of their progressive judges. My response is simple. The car companies simply stop selling anything in California, and that includes spare parts.

Over the last decade, the federal government has worked with California to keep mileage targets uniform nationwide, folding the state’s aggressive smog and anti-pollution goals into the national program. A single standard is crucial to automakers who don’t want to contend with multiple production lines to comply with conflicting rules in states, particularly one as important to car sales as California.
Gee, who was president then? Hmm, I think I remember. Oh yes! It was president Pen and Phone, Barack Obama. He is going down as the worst president in American History, and the first president to actively hate everything that America stands for. Once again, he’s going to see another one of his “Legacy” items tossed into the trash.

After President Trump was elected, automakers immediately began lobbying him to rewrite the rules — and to pressure California to dial back its efforts. Pruitt’s action would give the companies limited or no relief if it is not enforced nationwide since California’s rules apply to more than a third of cars sold across the country, and automakers are loath to create multiple production lines to comply with conflicting rules.
As I said before, ignore Kalifornistan and write them off. At the rate their going, the entire state is going to collapse and probably be broken up.
The state is showing no sign of yielding. And the EPA chief is striking an increasingly hostile tone toward it, suggesting that he may seek to revoke the federal waiver that allows California to impose tougher rules than those of the federal government.
State leaders are daring him to try. They are confident it is a legal fight California would win.
“We are not going to go backward,” said California Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra. “We are not interested in a race to the bottom…. We are prepared to take whatever action, legal or otherwise, we have to to protect our health and our economy.
Oh really? Legal or otherwise? Did you actually say that? Congratulations moron, you just provided the Casus belli for the Trump Administration to break Kalifornistan once and for all.
“We didn’t make these moves lightly,” Becerra said of the fuel economy targets. “They came after years of study, scientific evidence, fact-gathering, comment periods, a lot of back and forth among experts and stakeholders. To unwind this and go backward would cost our industries and cost our people billions of dollars. There has to be a good reason to make any kind of move. We have seen nothing change that would make California change its position.”
There is so much in that quote that just isn’t so. First, those “science and engineering experts” were cherry picked. Second, the manufacturers who were consulted consisted of Elon Musk, who makes electric cars in Kalifornistan. He’s the one who will benefit from mandating the virtual end of the Internal Combustion Engine.
The term for this is “Cronyism.” As to “costs unwinding the regulations,” what costs? Instead of having to spend hundreds of billions on untried technology, and then spending billions more as they discover it doesn’t work, the auto industry can take their time and test things out to see what works and what doesn’t. Once that’s done, they can provide their customers with the products they desire.

The fact is, Kalifornistan is dying. People are leaving the state. Corporations are also pulling out. Thanks to the idiots in Sacramento, businesses are being forced to close because of massive taxes and over-regulations. Kalifornistan is a state that truly believes that unless it is expressly allowed by the Ruling Elite, it is forbidden. Now they have a president and an administration that is calling them on their totalitarianism and they don’t like it one bit.

The EPA has announced it is scrapping the Obama regulations on fuel mileage. The usual suspects are tearing their hair out, which is why most Progressives are bald. (FYI, I wrote the bulk of this post over the weekend before the decision was announced)
