Good day all. Buzzfeed is a web based news portal that has been doing something no news agency wants. Becoming the news instead of reporting it.
Buzzfeed became “Famous” when they published the fake Russian dossier that indicated President Trump was owned by the Russians. It came out that not only was this untrue, but the entire dossier was bought and paid for by Felonia von Pantsuit. It was then passed on my the Scumbag of the Senate, John McSlime to the FBI.
The FBI and the Department of Justice then used it to generate a series of FISA warrants so they could spy on the Trump campaign and later on the Transition Team. It also led to the phony “Collusion” investigation by Robert Mueller. Between Mueller and the fake FISA warrants, a number of FBI and DOJ personnel have resigned, retired or been fired. Sadly, none have been prosecuted.
Not to rest on their laurels when it came to manufacturing fake news, Buzzfeed decided to to it again a few weeks ago. They “Broke” a story that President Trump had told Michael Cohen, Trump’s disgraced former attorney, to lie under oath to Congress, and that Mueller was going to put this in his report.
This started yet another round of barking by the Moonbats, and caused Mueller to do something he had never done before. Announce that the Buzzfeed story was completely wrong. With that, and also the other news agency being unable to verify anything Buzfeed had said, the story died.
What is also dying, apparently, is Buzzfeed itself. Last week, they announced that they were laying off 15 percent of their staff. Here are the happy details from Fox News:
BuzzFeed management on Wednesday announced plans to lay off possibly hundreds of jobs as the company plans to restructure.
CEO Jonah Peretti wrote in a memo to staff, obtained by the The Wall Street Journal, that 15 percent of employees “across the company” will be cut as the digital media company has “developed a good understanding of where we can consolidate our teams, focus in on the content that is working, and achieve the right cost structure to support our multi-revenue model.”
I suspect some of those being shown the door will be the people involved in the fake dossier and phony Cohen stories.
“We are confident the changes we are making will put us on a firm foundation and allow us to invest and grow sustainably for years to come,” Peretti said.
The 45-year-old told employees that a restructuring of the company “will reduce our costs and improve our operating model so we can thrive and control our own destiny, without ever needing to raise funding again,” and said the changes “will allow us to be the clear winner in the market” of digital media.
What’s actually happening is that Buzzfeed’s backers are bailing out. Oh we aren’t going to see them say that of course, but you know that’s what’s actually happening.
BuzzFeed as a business, according to Peretti, grew into double digits, but, as he wrote, “revenue growth by itself isn’t enough to be successful in the long run.”
No, it isn’t, not with a digital newspaper. The one thing they must have is credibility, and Buzzfeed’s is shot full of holes, down by the bows and listing hard to port.
The cut to its workforce could possibly affect a reported 250 jobs of its estimated 1,500. The company last laid off employees en masse in 2017, when 100 staffers were let go.
And I call that a good start. The, what is colloquially known as, the Main Stream Media, used to have absolute control over how people were given information. You had three networks, several major newspapers and radio stations. They were all quite incestuous.
The Newspapers started folding and combining long ago as Television news took hold. You had people like Walter Cronkite who would tell people “That’s the way it is.” In the 1960’s, that changed when the Newspapers decided to go from reporting “What, Where, When and Who,” to telling you why. The true start of this was when Walter Cronkite announced that we could not win the Vietnam War.
Granted, the Pentagon and the ranking generals had no real clue how to deal with this, or how to actually win, but Cronkite basically went from reporting to editorializing, forever breaking the wall between the News and Opinion.
Then came Watergate, and the media deciding it was their job to bring down Nixon. They always hated him, and Nixon didn’t help himself by covering up what was a two bit break in. After Watergate, the Media continued to consolidate and move further to the left, in many cases aiding the Soviet Union.
The beginning of the end of the MSM being the controllers of information started when the Internet became popular. The end for the MSM as credible was when Dan Rather and Mary Mapes decided to post blatantly false information trying to “Get” President George W. Bush. It took 4 hours for people to start questioning the “evidence” that became known as the “Killian Controversy”, and within months, Dan Rather and Mary Mapes had been fired.
Rather then learn their lessons, the MSM has doubled down. Now, thanks to their blind hatred of anything that isn’t a Progressive, the MSM regularly generates what has become known as “Fake News.” The majority of Americans no longer Trust “America’s most trusted source for news” any longer. Buzzfeed is the latest that put politics ahead of information gathering and providing and now 250 “Journalists” are going to be shown the door. Perhaps they should be replaced by actual reporters who understand their job is to report what they see, hear, touch and smell, and will leave what they think at home.
