Good day all. Chief Sitting Bullshit, aka Senator Elizabeth Warren has had a busy few weeks. First, Lie-a-watha announced that she was running for President. Then came proof she lied on her Texas state bar application.
Now, she wants to shove through a law preventing the president from launching a nuclear first strike. Here are the details from the Washington Times, (Paywalled):
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren wants to make sure the United States never uses nuclear weapons first. The Massachusetts Democrat has introduced a bill with Democratic U.S. Rep. Adam Smith of Washington that would make it the official policy of the United States not to use nuclear weapons first.
The lawmakers say the United States currently retains the option to be the first to use nuclear weapons in a conflict, even in response to a non-nuclear attack.
Did you know that the United States can retaliate against any use of weapons of Mass Destruction with Nuclear weapons? This includes dirty bombs, chemical attacks and biological weapons use.
They said banning the use of nuclear weapons for first-strike purposes would “reduce the chances of a nuclear miscalculation.”
Ok, where to begin? How about the beginning? The United States is the ONLY country to ever use nuclear weapons in war. We’re also the only country to initiate a first strike. Both of these events occurred simultaneously when we nuked Hiroshima, Japan in World War Two. If Warren’s stupid idea were in effect in 1945, we would not have been able to use those weapons and would have had to invade Japan with all the devastation that would have caused.
The United States has always maintained the First Strike option for many reasons, the biggest one was to avoid not only using them, but preventing a war in the first place. If the Soviet Union knew that they wouldn’t have to worry about an American First Strike on their armies, they would have invaded Western Europe in the 60’s. The fact that they knew that we could use them if pressed was key in their deciding not to invade.
Now this isn’t to say that the United States is going to start firing nukes all over the place. The last time a nuclear weapon was used in anger was Nagasaki, Japan. (Which, by the way, caused the Japanese to finally throw in the towel and surrender) While we talk about it and, rest assured, we have battle plans that call for a First Strike, actually launching the weapons is a lot harder than most people imagine, including your average Democrat.
To begin with, we have the “Two Man Rule.” It takes two people to authorize the use of a nuclear weapon under any circumstance. President Trump can no more pick up the phone and order the military to nuke Iran then it would be possible for Lie-a-watha Warren, if she sleazes her way into office, to order a nuclear strike on Texas.
It requires one other person to agree with the President to initiate the use of a Nuclear Weapon. It may be another cabinet officer, the Vice President, or a general officer. If that second authorization doesn’t occur, the weapons remain in their silos. (And more than likely, a president will by out of office within hours)
No president in his or her right mind, (Which lets out all the current Democrats running for office), would sign such a bill. Honestly, this could be construed as treason since it deliberately hamstrings the Commander in Chief from being able to carry out his duty of defending the Constitution of the United States, (And by extension, the United States itself), from an enemy attack.
If such a law were passed, and the worst case scenario were to occur, a United States army division, or corps, being overrun and annihilated, and it was due to their not being able to deploy tactical nuclear weapons, You will see every single member of congress, current or out of office, who rammed this through arrested and executed. (They probably won’t bother with a trial)
Another interesting thing is this isn’t the first time the Democrats have tried to hamstring a Republican President when it comes to nuclear weapons. It happened to Reagan when the Communist controlled members of congress, (Like Senator Edward (Un)Moore(d) Kennedy and then representative Ed Markey) were pushing both the Soviet backed Nuclear freeze and also Unilateral disarmament. These sorts of bills never come up when it’s a Democrat who is president. Speaking of Markey…
Fellow Massachusetts Democratic U.S. Sen. Edward Markey and U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu, a California Democrat, have also sponsored a bill that would bar the president from launching a nuclear first strike without congressional approval.
Oh I can see that now. We are under massive conventional attack, our defenses are being reduced, and our forces are in danger of being wiped out. The only way to stop it is to nuke the opposing forces, or make them believe we’re about to. Do you honestly believe that these idiots are going to hold a public debate, deal with all the crap that gets added on to a bill, and allow the President to use nukes?
The Democrats, particularly people like Ed Markey and Ted Lieu flat out won’t allow it under any circumstances. Nothing makes Progressives like them happier than the United States suffering a crushing defeat. Lots of dead American soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are what they want to see. Yes, they hate this country that much.
This bill will never make out of a house committee, never mind being voted on in the senate. If by some miracle it reached President Trump’s desk, well, he has that nice VETO hammer to stamp it with. As for the Democrats? How nice of them to add even more to the growing pile of campaign ads the Republicans will be running in 2020.
