Good day all, if this is a day ending in a “Y” then we have yet another story of a crooked politician who got caught. And surprising no one, it’s a Kalifornistan Democrat.
What’s surprising was that this Democrat was caught and actually punished. Of course, he’s also out of office so his influence has waned. Still it makes interesting reading. Here are the details from Fox News:
A former California Democratic lawmaker was ordered to pay $150,000 on Thursday after admitting to pulling funds from campaign coffers in part to pay for a trip to Asia, finance an expensive remodeling project on his Hawaii vacation home, and book flights for him and his wife to London and Washington, D.C.
Joseph Canciamilla, 64, was slapped with the maximum penalty the state allows for a campaign finance violation following a unanimous vote by the state’s Fair Political Practices Commission.
Kalifornistan has a commission called the “Fair Political Practices Commission?” Isn’t that rather Orwellian considering that the Ruling elite in Kalifornistan has done all they can to make sure their were no fair elections. So just what did this loser do?
An investigation conducted by the California elections watchdog found Canciamilla misused more than $130,000 in campaign dollars raised from two local fundraising committees he created and falsified state filings to cover up the spending, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
“This is a spectacular fall from grace,” Commissioner Frank Cardenas told The Sacramento Bee. “It’s a breathtaking arrogance. There are particularly egregious issues here that appear to go, at least on their face, beyond mirror of civil law.”
Breathtaking arrogance? You do understand that this is the standard mindset of the Democrat Elite, don’t you?
Commissioner Alison Hayward told San Francisco’s KPIX-TV Canciamilla’s violations were “particularly repugnant.”
“They show that a person who is raising money in trust for a political purpose is then converting that money to personal income,” she added.
Obviously, Canciamilla missed the classes given by Felonia von Pantsuit on how to use ill gotten gains without getting caught. Or he did take the class and decided that murdering everyone who might pose a threat was a bit much for him.
“Mr. Canciamilla has taken full responsibility for this situation, is humbled and embarrassed, and hopes the FPPC fines won’t severely overshadow his 46 years of public service to the residents of Contra Costa County,” his attorney, Andy Rockas, said in a statement, according to The Chronicle.
Translation: “Damn It! They caught me! Now I just hope I can keep my corrupt ass out of prison.” Still, he is a Democrat and a Kalifornistan Democrat at that. Why did they go after him?
Canciamilla served in the California State Assembly in Sacramento from 2000 to 2006 before he was appointed clerk-recorder in Contra Costa County near San Francisco. He served as a Democrat at the time. He is now registered as “No Party Preference,” according to The Bee.
Well There’s your problem! He left the Democrat party so they were under no obligation to protect his corrupt ass. Besides, they probably needed a sacrificial lamb to keep the hoi polloi from going after the rest of the Democrats.
Canciamilla agreed to pay the $150,000 settlement for violating the Political Reform Act, which prohibits candidates from mixing campaign funds with personal finances. The commission also referred the case to the Contra Costa County’s district attorney’s office, which will decide whether to file criminal charges. The county’s retirement board is expected to review his pension.
Oh they really have it in for this guy. He must be a true apostate if they’re going after his pension. Granted, this is Kalifornistan, so good luck getting that away from him. Still even though he’s left the party, he’s still a Democrat at heart. Over-privileged, and thinks the world owes him. He’s also, in my opinion, just the tip of a very large and deep iceberg. Frankly, I’m glad he’s getting shafted and hope more of the political class get nailed.
