The Great Panicdemic of 2020: Once again, Freedom defeats tyranny in Michigan

About a month ago, the people of Michigan decided enough was enough and started protesting the diktats of governor Wretched Gretchen Whitmer. Additionally, some small businesses, desperate to save themselves, decided to reopen regardless of what Wretched Gretchen wanted. One of these was 77 year old barber, Karl Manke.

He reopened and when ordered to shut down, told Wretched Gretchen to go pound sand. This enraged her and she unleashed her fellow traveler in tyranny, Dana Nessel to punish the upstart barber for daring to rebel against his betters. Whitmer’s minions pulled Mr. Manke’s license and then got an injunction from some of their pet judges.

Mr. Manke ignored them. As I recall, they then sent police officers to shut him down. Those officers found why Michigan is nicknamed “Militiagan” when a number of very heavily armed people politely explained to them the error of their ways. The officers left. (Truth be told, they never wanted any part of enforcing Wretched Gretchen’s diktats)

Finally Nessel went to an appellate court made up of more minions of Wretched Gretchen and got another order. This led to yet another appeal to the supreme court, and they have ruled in Mr. Manke’s favor. Here are the details from Fox News:

The Michigan Supreme Court on Friday unanimously sided with a barber who reopened his shop last month in defiance of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s coronavirus lockdown order. The high court ruled that the state appeals court made mistakes in its decision to shut down 77-year-old barber Karl Manke. The appeals decision was not unanimous and did not afford Manke oral arguments to defend himself, the court said.

It is incumbent on the courts to ensure decisions are made according to the rule of law, not hysteria.” Justice David F. Viviano wrote in his opinion. “One hopes that this great principle — essential to any free society, including ours — will not itself become yet another casualty of COVID-19.”

Nessel the Nitwit had planned to utterly crush Mr. Manke.

The state’s attorney general last week filed a motion to find Manke in contempt if he continued to cut hair following the appeals court decision, the Flint Journal reported. The motion asked for thousands of dollars in fines each day against Manke if he kept cutting hair.

But with the Supreme Court on his side, Manke said he hopes to get back to business.

Stick THAT where the sun don’t shine Nessel, sit on it and rotate!!

I needed to work and figured it was time to move forward,” Manke said Friday in a statement obtained by the Washington Times. “But I feel like I have been ruled over with a heavy hand, not governed, and my constitutional rights have been trampled underfoot. It is high time for all of Michigan to stand up, open up for business and for people in our community to show up in support.”

Your rights, along with everyone else’s in Michigan were trampled by Wretched Gretchen Whitmer and Dimwit Dana Nessel. There is a recall movement against Wretched Gretchen, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they asl go after Dana Nessel. Depending on how things shake out in November, there is also a chance of a formal impeachment of Whitmer. The odds of her being in office a year from now are significantly less then Karl Manke giving haircuts.

***UPDATE***

I wrote this on Sunday, June 7th and scheduled it to be released. On Monday, June 8th, another ruling came down in favor of Mr. Manke. In another story on Fox News:

A Michigan judge has blocked efforts by the state’s attorney general to continue trying to hold a local barber in contempt of court over the businessman’s refusal to keep his shop closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Michigan Supreme Court on Friday had vacated a ruling that ordered Karl Manke to close his haircutting business in Owosso. Manke, 77, lost his business license after refusing to comply in early May with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s shutdown order for non-essential businesses. He appealed and won an important court victory, and now a Michigan Circuit Court order says the state can no longer go after him.

“It is no longer appropriate for Plaintiff to seek to compel Defendant to comply with a nonexistent injunction,” the order from Judge Matthew J. Stewart said.

In other words, the Attorney General, Nitwit Nessel, has been flat out told to put a sock in it and knock off her attempts to punish Mr. Manke for exercising his rights under the Constitution of the United States. Of course, being a Progressive member of the Democratic CommuNazi Party, it’s a 50/50 chance that she will comply. Still, this is even more good news to the freedom and liberty of Americans everywhere. (Or at least in Michigan)
