Good day all. The fallout from Mayor Picklehead Durkan’s decision to cave into the Marxist mobs in Seattle has begun to pay dividends, just not for the city of Seattle. A major company has announced that they’ve had it and are leaving.
The company is an Investment firm worth over a billion dollars, named Smead Capital Management, and they’ve announced that they are moving to Phoenix. Here are the details from Fox Business:
The CEO of a billion-dollar investment firm said his company is getting out of Seattle just in time as residents accuse Mayor Jenny Durkan of letting the city’s so-called Capitol Hill Occupied Protest get out of hand and turn deadly.
“The unrest that has taken place in the city of Seattle … there is really is not a downtown business community today,” Smead Capital Management President Cole Smead told KTAR News on Monday.
Smead Capital announced the decision to move to Phoenix’s Camelback Corridor last week.
“My biggest concern for Seattle was what the business community is going to come back to, and what kind of businesses are going to come back for customers,” Smead told KTAR News.
I think we know the answer. Thanks to Picklehead Durkan, and the flaming communists on the City Council, Seattle is going to look like Detroit in pretty short order. I suspect that Mr. Smead was already looking to pull the plug on Seattle and the incompetence of the Mayor was the final straw. As for the employees, they are going to be taken care of.
Phoenix will offer Smead Capital employees a lower cost of living and a better quality of life, Smead said.
“We announced our decision to move to Phoenix internally to our staff in January, long before COVID shutdowns or nationwide protests made their way to Seattle…. nothing happening or being reported in the news right now had any weight in our decision to relocate from Seattle to Phoenix,” Smead said in a statement Tuesday.
And if you believe that, I have some freshly printed bearer bonds to sell you. Oh I do think they made the decision to pull up stakes and move, and announced it last winter. After all, Seattle is run by moonbats to the left of Karl Marx, and they’ve made no secret of their desire to steal everything that isn’t nailed down, and tax to death anything that is. The climate is considerably friendlier, not to mention drier, in Phoenix Arizona. I think the recent terrorist attacks finally pushed them to make it official.
This is the situation with all the Blue cities and states. They have been looting businesses and taxpayers to the point that they can’t afford to live in these places any longer, not to mention that the Democratic CommuNazi government officials put criminals, illegal aliens and other assorted vermin ahead of the citizens. Now they are acting surprised when corporations say “See ya!” Smead Capital may be the first, but they won’t be the last. If Boeing pulls up stakes and moves out of Washington State totally, expect blind panic among the political class.
