Good day all. The CBS news program, 60 minutes, has been on the air for over 50 years. In that time they have broken a number of good stories. They’ve also managed to put politics ahead of common sense and shot themselves in the foot many times. Their most recent “Own goal” was a hit piece on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The basics of the hit piece, and there is not other word for it, was the State of Florida handing off public Wuhan Flu inoculations to the supermarket chain, Publix. 60 Minutes Propagandist, and there is no other term for what she is, Sharyn Alfonsi, selectively edited the interview to put Governor DeSantis in the worst light possible, essentially accusing him of taking bribes from Publix. The problem was that it was a flat out lie and 60 minutes knew it. Here are some of the details from CNN:
On Sunday night, as part of a broader piece about the vaccination efforts in Florida, “60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi noted that Publix, a grocery store that had partnered with the state to distribute vaccines, had also donated $100,000 to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2022 reelection campaign.
It was a passing mention, without any other facts or context to back it up. Just that Publix was working with the state to administer vaccines and that the company’s PAC had made this donation to the governor.
The insinuation here, however, was pretty clear. Publix got this state contract because of the donation. Pay to play. Favoritism. All that good stuff.

There was just a teensy little problem with that insinuation by 60 Minutes. It wasn’t true. Further, once people found out about the plans by 60 Minutes, they wanted to speak to them, on the record, and it crossed party lines.
The problem is that, in the wake of the “60 Minutes” report, multiple Democratic elected officials have come out to debunk the tie between the donation and Publix distributing the vaccine.
Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner, a Democrat, said that the news program had run “intentionally false” information because, he insisted, the producers knew that the county, not the governor, had been the one to request the Publix partnership.
60 minutes really put their foot in it, right up to the hip. They have been caught, once again, manufacturing news. In the past, when they rigged an interview to make it look like their target was some sort of criminal, their victim rarely fought back, or had the means to. However, this normal mode of operation fell apart in January, 2017, when the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump took office. He did something that the media had never experienced before. He hit back and a lot harder. Governor DeSantis has taken that lesson to heart and has landed on 60 minutes like a nuke.
The report — and the backlash — amount to a massive gift to DeSantis as he looks to his reelection race next year and, he hopes, a 2024 run for the Republican presidential nomination.
The mainstream media trying to suggest he was involved in a pay-for-play scheme involving the Covid-19 vaccine? With Democrats on the record saying not only that “60 Minutes” got it wrong but did so purposely? Manna from heaven for DeSantis, who has already benefited greatly from his laissez-faire approach to the pandemic in his state — placing second behind only former President Donald Trump in a 2024 straw poll conducted at the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year.
Unlike South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Governor DeSantis has managed not to shoot himself in the foot politically. (Hopefully, Noem can correct her error. She would make a fine VP down the road with the potential to be a good president) Governor DeSantis could be the successor that President Trump is looking for. (I don’t see President Trump running again in 2024. I will support him if he does and I can see him selecting Governor DeSantis as his VP. No more Pence thank you) As for CBS and 60 Minutes? They are doubling down on stupid. In an article on Fox News:
CBS faced a new round of backlash Tuesday after it issued a second statement standing by its widely panned “60 Minutes” report that accused Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of engaging in a “pay-for-play” scheme involving grocery store chain Publix.

“When Florida state data revealed people of color were vaccinated at a much lower rate than their wealthier neighbors, ‘60 Minutes’ reported the facts surrounding the vaccine’s rollout, which is controlled by the governor,” a CBS News spokesperson told Fox News. “We requested and conducted interviews with dozens of sources and authorities involved. We requested an interview with Gov. Ron DeSantis, he declined; we spoke to State Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz twice, but he declined to be interviewed on camera for our story until well after our deadline. The idea we ignored their perspective is untrue.
“People of color?” I see that you are living down to the Progressive Standard that people are to be judged solely on their skin color.
“Counter to his statement yesterday, we also spoke on the record with Palm Beach County Mayor David Kerner. For over 50 years, the facts reported by 60 MINUTES have often stirred debate and prompted strong reactions,” the spokesperson continued. “Our story Sunday night speaks for itself.”
Correct, it does speak for itself. It is telling people that 60 minutes and CBS are nothing more then propaganda organs for the Progressive Liberal Democratic CommuNazi party and that they will do whatever it takes to stop anyone who puts America and Americans first.
When asked why a defense of the pay-for-play allegations raised by the “60 Minutes” report wasn’t in the statement, a CBS News spokesperson told Fox News the program simply repeated claims already made in Florida newspapers and declined additional comment.
“This digging in is really only going to make things worse,” GOP strategist Matt Whitlock predicted. “Everyone has access to the video and can see exactly how they deceptively edited the interview to fit a pre-set narrative, truth be damned.”
“Their segment focused heavily on the Publix angle of the story and this statement makes n0 mention of their deceptive editing to smear DeSantis,” Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saaevdra reacted.
A few years back, when people started understanding that in a sit down recorded interview, the Mostly Stupid Media would edit what their target said to alter the statements to make them look bad, people being interviewed started making their own recordings. When organizations like 60 minutes selectively edited the content to change what was actually said, their targets would release the full, unedited interview.
This lead to the creation of Project Veritas and how they reported stories. Project Veritas generally uses hidden cameras and let’s their target of investigation hang themselves. They then post the finished product, and once the story is out there, they release the complete unedited, raw recordings. This allows people to go through everything with a fine tooth comb, which they have. What they found was that Project Veritas only edited out the dead spots or parts that were unintelligible.
You will never see the MSM do anything like this. It would show the world just how biased they are and how little they think of the truth. Thanks to CBS, Governor Ron DeSantis’s stock among the “Deplorables” has gone up significantly. We shall see what happens next.
