Good day all. Well, the Russian leadership is definitely in the running for the whackjobs of the month trophy. It isn’t just Vladikins Putin, now another one is demanding that the United States hand over Alaska and parts of Kalifornistan.

The Russian invasion of the Ukraine has not been going as expected for Vladikins and his circle of yes men. They expected it to be over within a week with minimal casualties. Instead, the Ukrainians have held out far longer then anyone expected. The invasion has also led to Russia being economically cut off at the knees as many nations start imposing sanctions on them. This has led one Russian lawmaker, (Other then Putin I gather), to demand that the State of Alaska and a section of California be returned to them. Here are the amusing details from Fox News:
A Russian lawmaker made an outlandish demand over the weekend that the United States return Alaska and a historic settlement in California, in addition to paying reparations to Russia over crippling American-led sanctions that have put Moscow’s economy in a tailspin.

Oleg Matveychev, a member of the state Duma, outlined on Russian state television a set of demands for the U.S. and Ukraine after Kiv’s “demilitarization is completed,” the Express newspaper in the United Kingdom reported.
This should be interesting, much like a train wreck is interesting.
The demands include the return of Alaska, which the U.S. purchased from the Russian Empire in 1867 as part of the Alaska Purchase, and the former Russian settlement of Fort Ross, California, 90 miles north of San Francisco.
“We should be thinking about reparations from the damage that was caused by the sanctions and the war itself, because that too costs money and we should get it back,” Matveychev said during a Sunday interview. He also called for the “return of all Russian properties, those of the Russian empire, the Soviet Union and current Russia, which has been seized in the United States, and so on.”
Oh this guy is a few fries short of a happy meal. I would say he should head on down to the local “McDonaldski,” and by some fries, but they’ve pulled out of Russia and won’t be back until the Russians pull out of the Ukraine. Oh, by the way, he also wants the Antarctic as well.
Afterward, he was asked if he meant Alaska and Fort Ross.
“That was my next point. As well as the Antarctic,” he said. “We discovered it, so it belongs to us.”

The rest of the world might have something to say about that Comrade, and you did sign a treaty that basically says that the Antarctic belongs to no one and is to be left alone. As to Alaska being returned? Well, we bought and paid for it back in 1867 and we paid Russia $7.2 million dollars back when the dollar was actually worth something. Considering the assets in and under Alaska? Yeah, we’re talking trillions of dollars. As for trying to come in and take it ala the Ukraine? Alaska’s governor had this response:
“Good luck with that!” Dunleavy said in response to Matveychev’s demands. “Not if we have something to say about it,” he added. “We have hundreds of thousands of armed Alaskans and military members that will see it differently.”
The guns the Alaskans have, like those of all Americans, run the gamut from the infamous “Evil Black Rifles,” (AR-15’s) up to guns that can take down a whale, and I mean that literally. They also have rifles that can drop Grizzly and polar bears in their tracks. (Anything lighter just annoys the bears, and you don’t want to deal with an annoyed polar bear)
Now, as for California? There are a lot of Americans who would be happy to hand it back to you. However, you would be stuck with it. It would be an “All sales final” deal. One of the reasons Russia gave up California was that it was costing them to much money to keep their colony going. I think that the Russians might want to rethink demanding Kalifornistan back.
Still, this shows what the mindset of way to many Russians in power is. They want to restore the empire. Not just restore it, expand it. Without question, they would, if they could, take the entire Eurasian continent, including China, India and western Europe to at least the Channel. Instead, they are bogged down in a war they can’t afford to lose, and winning is going to break them economically. The Russians could have been an economic superpower after the fall of the USSR, but they chose corruption and tyranny instead. We’ll see what happens next. One thing that isn’t happening is getting Alaska or California back.
