While eating my dinner, I happened across this bit of news from Across the Pond. It seems that the EU wants to ban cars from cities by 2050.
According to the Telegraph, Cars will be banned from London and all other cities across Europe under a draconian EU masterplan to cut CO2 emissions by 60 per cent over the next 40 years.
The European Commission on Monday unveiled a “single European transport area” aimed at enforcing “a profound shift in transport patterns for passengers” by 2050.
The plan also envisages an end to cheap holiday flights from Britain to southern Europe with a target that over 50 per cent of all journeys above 186 miles should be by rail.
So, I gather the Lords and Masters want the serf to stay put. Considering that the average EU politician is an inbred moron with an IQ significantly below that of a dead cat, this plan doesn’t at all surprise me. These over-educated twerps detest the fact that the nobility is no longer running things.
Siim Kallas ((Siim Kallas Bio)), the EU transport commission, insisted that Brussels directives and new taxation of fuel would be used to force people out of their cars and onto “alternative” means of transport.
Alternate means of transportation meaning walking. Good thing that Global Warming ((Early snowfalls in Europe hit Historic Levels)) is occurring at an ever increasing rate. At least people will be nice and warm when they walk the 30 miles each way to work.
Well, we’ve been watching the slow death of Europe for about a decade now. Ever since the Soviet Union collapsed, the totalitarians had no place to call their own. Well now they’ve decided to remake Europe and return to those wonder days of yesteryear, better known as the Dark Ages. Hopefully the morons here won’t try to emulate this bit of stupidity, although that jerk Ken Salazar ((Ken Salazar)) would love nothing better then to outlaw cars in the United States.
Of course, it might be a bit more difficult since We dumb Americans are clinging bitterly to our cars and, are guns. 😉
In all seriousness, banning cars in the U.S. is doomed to failure for one really big reason. The country is huge. In my case I drive 30 miles each way to my real world job and there is NO other means to get there. Out west, it’s even worse. You will drive for hours just to reach a grocery store in some parts of the country.
In my real world job, we have teams that have to visit sites in Texas. They may spend 4 hours each way for a 15 minute fix. There is no cell phone coverage, no internet, nothing. I’m sure the socialist dweebs living in their upper east side apartments in NYC fully understand how the rest of the country lives, just like the Eurotrash running the EU understands how the average person lives.
Oh Well, in the end it won’t matter. By 2050 the EU will be part of the new Islamic Caliphate.
I’m still awaiting a comment by Jeremy Clarkson. I understand he’s still speechless, (A very unusual situation for him) regarding this directive.
