Good day all. You would think that after Wuhan and Covid-19, scientists would get the message that tinkering with the genetic structure of viruses, making them far more dangerous, would be a really bad idea. Apparently not. First we had a lab at Boston University making the Coronavirus far more lethal. Now we have another one that’s thinks it’s a good idea to make Monkeypox more dangerous.
It’s now generally accepted that Anthony Fauci, using taxpayer funds and going through a third party, paid a lab in the Peoples Republic of China to experiment on the Coronavirus. Thanks to lax protocols, it escaped from the lab and the rest was history.
The process used is called “Gain of Function” research. The alleged goal is to see just how dangerous a virus could become. The problem with this is it’s flat out stupid and dangerous. If this was done by the military, it would be a violation of all sorts of laws and treaties on the manufacture of biological warfare agents. For people like that power mad idiot Fauci, it’s simply an academic procedure, one he had been told flat out not to do. Now we have yet another lab doing the same damn thing, this time with Monkeypox. Here are the details from the Daily Mail:
A Government laboratory in Maryland plans to make the circulating monkeypox strain more lethal in highly controversial research in mice.
The team wants to equip the dominant clade – which mostly causes a rash and flu-like symptoms – with genes from another strain that causes severe disease.
You know what this sounds like? It sounds to me like they want to recreate smallpox, which is related to Monkeypox. The difference is, smallpox has been eliminated from the world because it was so lethal. Monkeypox is bad, but no where near as dangerous. (Thankfully, the original smallpox vaccines have some effect in protecting people and they created a version specific to monkeypox a long time ago. Wanna bet that whatever these knotheads come up with won’t be affected by the vaccines?)
They hope the experiment will reveal how different genes make monkeypox more deadly, and spur the development of better drugs and vaccines for humans.
This smells of Fauci to me. That incompetent quack is wedded to the idea of vaccines instead of cures. This is why he and his cronies at the CDC came down so hard on anything that looked like it might reduce the effects of, or even stop Covid-19.
The latest monkeypox study is being funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a research arm of National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Yep, Fauci. Of course, there are reputable researchers who are saying that this is a really bad idea, and that it needs to be stopped right now.
But the modified virus ‘poses an exceptionally high risk’ to the public if it accidentally leaks, according to Dr Richard Ebright, a microbiologist at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
The labs response was right out of the ivory tower in it’s arrogance and contempt for the intelligence of… pretty much everyone not in their little club.
The team in Maryland would argue their work does not involve ‘enhancing’ a pathogen because they are swapping natural mutations rather than creating new ones, meaning the hybrid cannot be more deadly than the existing clades.
The Daily Mail story goes into some details on Monkeypox and where it originated from along with other scientific data. It also explains why the Maryland lab thinks they can do this without oversight.
The Maryland experiment was exempt from oversight when it was given the green light in 2018 because monkeypox did not meet the threshold for a ‘potential pandemic pathogen’.
To be considered a PPP, the pathogen has to be widely transmissible with the potential of spreading uncontrollably and being highly dangerous. But at that time, monkeypox outbreaks were confined to Africa and the virus did not spread easily between people.
Monkeypox has since spread out of Africa. The virus requires, as I understand it, really close contact and a transfer of bodily fluids. This is why most of the victims were in the homosexual community. (Although it’s spread past that to some extent) Even so, the numbers aren’t massive. According to the story about 26,000 people are infected, and I gather almost all will recover. This is where people start asking “What are these idiot doing?”
Dr Ebright told DailyMail.com: ‘A laboratory-generated monkeypox virus… more lethal than, and as transmissible as, the monkeypox virus currently circulating in humans potentially likely would defeat protection by vaccines and likely would spread beyond current at-risk populations to the general population.
The current vaccines have been around for decades. They work, they are proven and these Ivory Tower meatheads want to create something incredibly dangerous with no available treatments or vaccines. Good thinking!
The latest controversy surrounding risky monkeypox research comes on the back of years of ferocious debate over gain of function research, which many believe resulted in the Covid pandemic.
The pandemic shed a light on the risky research practices, which the government has funded for decades with pushback, having temporarily paused in 2014 only to resume three years later.
I’ve mentioned this before. In one of the few smart things Obama did, he issued orders to end Gain of Function research. Fauci promptly outsourced the research to China and…Well, we know what happened.
This research needs to be shut down and hard. There is no real reason that any normal person can see to proceed with it. If this was military research, it would be seen for exactly what it was. Research into making a biological warfare agent. In case Fauci and the other quacks don’t know this, the United States considers biological weapons to be weapons of mass destruction and retaliation, if used, could include a nuclear response. In this case, I think firing everyone involved and in this will suffice.
