Things not looking so good for Kevin McCarthy

Good day all. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Kevin McCarthy was supposed to become the Speaker of the House on the first vote. Instead, he lost the first vote…and the second vote…and the third vote. With each vote, opposition to him grew.

McCarthy is no different from Cocaine Mitch McConnell. He is a Deep State Swamp dwelling member of the Beltway Uniparty. He’s also from Kalifornistan. He wasn’t as militant as McConnell or Paul Ryan in opposing the Make America Great Again agenda, but he wasn’t all that helpful. Add to that, he was almost as bad as McConnell in sinking a number of good candidates in the recent midterms because they weren’t all that enamored of him.

The Republicans won the house of representatives, barely. McCarthy assumed that he would be the next Speaker. He’s even moved into the Speaker’s office. (Matt Gaetz has already said that McCarthy is squatting and should move back out) However, the margin of control is very narrow for the Republicans, and enough members said they wouldn’t support McCarthy.

This has led to the first time in a century that a vote for Speaker of the House went to more than one ballot. What is also interesting is that with each new vote, McCarthy lost supporters. There are a few members who are looking to be the next Speaker and a couple who could be drafted into the job. One is Jim Jordan, howevr, he doesn’t want the job. (He wants to rake the Biden Crime Cartel over the coals on the judiciary committee)

Another might be Steve Scalise. He hasn’t put himself forward and has nominated McCarthy. He is also respected by the Republicans in the House, especially after nearly being killed by a Berniebot shortly after President Trump took office.

Now, what happens next? I haven’t got a clue. There will be more votes today. If McCarthy continues losing support, he might be forced to step back. I don’t see that happening. Like all Swamp Dwellers, he is way to arrogant. Buckle your seat belts ladies and gentlemen. We’re in for a bumpy ride.

I like watching the GOPe getting kicked where their nuts should be as much as the next malcontent, but it would be nicer if the rebels had a plan for victory. At least sleepy Joe can’t borrow and spend with the house in a complete cluster.
