AT&T stock getting hammered over censoring Newsmax

Good day all. This story has been ongoing for a while. Recently, AT&T owned DirecTV, their satellite television service, dropped the conservative news service Newsmax from their system. There has been a huge uproar over this, especially since Newsmax is doing a lot better then CNN, MSNBC and other channels on cable and satellite systems.

Apparently, the decision to drop Newsmax was political and not a business decision. This has led a number of members of congress, generally Republicans, (The Progressive Liberal Democratic Communazis are just fine with shutting down anything that provides an alternative point of view) Now it appears that AT&T’s decision is affecting their bottom line. Here are the details from, yes, you guessed it, Newsmax:

Since DirecTV dropped Newsmax on Jan. 24, AT&T’s stock has fallen by almost 7%, wiping nearly $10 billion from its market value.

AT&T, the 70% owner of DirecTV, has come under fierce criticism after deplatforming Newsmax from its satellite TV systems — the second conservative channel it has removed in the past year, with OAN going last April.

The decisions by AT&T to drop both OAN and Newsmax has led to people dropping DirecTV, with a potential boycott of all things AT&T related.

Days after the Newsmax drop, former President Donald Trump called on Americans to cancel not only DirecTV but all AT&T services, including cellular and wireless services.
“I think it’s deplorable,” Trump said of the cancellation. “Newsmax did well in the ratings, so they actually took something off that was actually doing well in the ratings, as opposed to other shows that don’t.”

Now AT&T’s stock price is taking a hit.

Since the removal of Newsmax, AT&T stock appears to be significantly underperforming the market while major stock indices have held steady during the past 12 trading days. The S&P 500 actually rose 0.37% between Jan. 25 and Feb. 10, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined just 1.84% between those dates.

Newsmax has been alerting its supporters about AT&T’s decision through its network, the fourth highest-rated cable news channel, reaching 25 million Americans, according to Nielsen.

One of the carriers that has Newsmax is the Dish Satellite service. I used to have DirecTV, but once AT&T got their hooks into it, they started playing games with pricing and services, so I dropped them years ago and haven’t looked back. I haven’t used AT&T for phone service, either landline or mobile in almost 15 years. (Currently I’m using Mint Mobile which is cheap and runs on the Tmobile backbone) If you would like to switch cable providers, (I’m not even going to mention Comcast, I ditched them totally last year, give Dish a call at 888-608-6768 and use referral code VCD0026145211 so I can get some freebies. (Yes, I am greedy)

I do own some stock in AT&T that I bought over 10 years ago. I have bought any more, although the dividends are set to reinvest. I expect the dividends to dry up as the company’s value continues to tank due to going all Woke and stuff. There is truth to the term “Get Woke, Go Broke” and I expect the shareholders to start asking some very pointed questions of AT&T’s current management.

The reaction against AT&T and DirecTV for the deplatforming has been swift and serious.

In January, Sen. Ted Cruz led a group of senators, including Tom Cotton, Mike Lee and Lindsey Graham, in writing a letter to AT&T demanding to know why Newsmax was removed when many lesser-rated liberal news channels remain on their systems.

“The silencing of conservative speech at the request of government officials is a direct assault on free speech and a threat to democracy,” Cruz and the other senators wrote, noting that Newsmax and OAN had both been targeted by House Democrats for deplatforming.

Sadly, thanks to Cocaine Mitch McConnell, the Senate is now firmly, if temporarily, in the hands of the Totalitarian minded Democratic Communazis under their current Fuehrer majority leader, UpChuck Schumer. Add to that the Bumbles Biden Maladministration and their plans to suppress any dissent, and you can see why I don’t think they can pressure AT&T to restore both OAN and Newsmax.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has joined with Trump in urging conservatives to cancel AT&T and DirecTV products.

Other leaders — including former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee; Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla.; Dennis Prager — have encouraged Americans to switch their service providers.

This is something that a lot of these Woke companies have lost sight of. 20 years ago, there wasn’t all that much of an alternative. Yes, Ma Bell was broken up, but then slowly started reforming. The Cellular systems have slowed that down, although there have been several attempts at mergers. (These have been stopped since they would rebuild monopolies)

With the advent of streaming services and a competitor satellite system, AT&T may want to rethink their current business model. People are turning away from companies that hate them. Where I live, we now have two internet providers where, for almost 20 years, we had one. (Comcrap) Fully half the homes in the city I live in have satellite antennas, and I understand the cancellations of internet services from Comcast to their competitor have gone through the roof. (As in it’s affecting their bottom line as well)

I used to watch Fox, but with the Moronic branch of the Murdoch family now in control, we’ve seen them drifting to the left. Instead I have Newsmax going in the background. I ditched Comcast for Fidium, and dumped AT&T for phone services long ago. (To expensive) I also dumped Harry’s Razors and went with Jeremy’s razors instead. (I’ve written a couple of reviews on Jeremy’s Razors) Disney is also discovering the joys of going broke after getting Woke and is not doing as well as they should be. As for the “reasons” DirecTV dropped Newsmax?

DirecTV claimed both Newsmax and OAN were removed as “cost-cutting” measures.

At the same time, the service continues to carry 22 left-leaning news channels, many with much lower ratings than Newsmax. All of those channels get hefty license fees, all higher than what Newsmax was seeking.

“DirecTV’s position has always been that Newsmax — of all cable news channels — should never get any cable fee whatsoever, not one penny,” Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said.
Ruddy said AT&T’s targeting of Newsmax for unequal treatment is “an act of political discrimination and blatant censorship.”

Until these Woke CEO’s start feeling personal pain, I don’t see them changing direction. They are all in on ending the United States as a free, sovereign independent nation and tearing up the Constitution. Far to many of them are in bed with the Chinese Communist government of the People’s Republic of China. I honestly think that if it came right down to brass tacks, most of these CEO’s would back China over the United States if things went sideways. It’s time to tear these companies a new one and the best place to start is with AT&T and DirecTV. Cancel them if you got them.
