Good day all. Currently Florida law enforcement is working on a triple murder of three teens in Marion County. Several arrests have been made and police are looking for other suspects. When the county Sheriff had a news conference to provide updates on the investigation, a journalist decided this was a good time to engage in a debate on gun control.

The sheriff, Billy Woods, was not reticent on who he thought was responsible and why this crime happened. Here are the details from Fox News:
Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods on Friday slammed “society,” “school districts” and gun law rhetoric after announcing the arrests of two juveniles — one of whom is just 12 years old — in connection with the recent killings of three teenagers in Florida. A third juvenile suspect remains at large, and the attorney general’s office is weighing whether to charge all three suspects as adults, Woods said during a press conference.
“The fact is: society fails them. We do not hold our juveniles accountable. We minimize their actions,” Woods said Friday.
That, in a nutshell, is the problem today. Thanks to the Progressive Liberal groomers, we don’t discipline children when they misbehave, we give them participation trophies. I’m not talking about beating children. It can be as little as a taking away privileges, making them do extra chores and, on rare occasions, light corporal punishment. (A swat or three on the butt) Right now, to many parents simply do not control their children and let them get away with murder, sometimes, literally.
The suspects are accused of fatally shooting 16-year-old Layla Silvernail, 16-year-old Camille Quarles, and an unnamed 17-year-old male on or around March 30 in rural Marion County. Woods told reporters he had to “look into the eyes” of the suspects’ mothers and inform them of their son’s crimes.
“Really, [the suspects’ parents] don’t have a whole lot to say. If you’re a parent, put yourself in their shoes. Holy hell. Panic. I’m scared to death as a parent. Embarrassed. Ashamed. What do you think they’re gonna say?” the sheriff said.
There are parents who are honestly caught by surprise. They thought they had been raising good kids. Others are, frankly, people who should have been sterilized and prevented from having any contact with children, let alone having any of their own. (Yeah I know, radical) The next target of Sheriff Woods was people who blame objects instead of the criminals.
The sheriff also criticized media and others who put the blame on guns after a shooting.
“There are individuals out there viewing … who want to blame the one thing that has no ability or the capacity to commit the crime itself, and that’s the gun,” Woods said. “These individuals committed the crime.”
He added that he does not know what the solution is, but “[t]he bad guy’s going to get a gun no matter what laws you put in place.”
And there it is. This is why all the ideas of gun control, up to and including outright confiscation won’t work. Criminals will always get guns. If, by some miracle, every single privately held firearm magically vanished, criminals would still be able to get guns.
Woods went on to blame society and schools for not holding juveniles accountable for their crimes.
“I am a father,” he said. “But here’s the one thing my boys know: growing up, the freaking barber had my permission to whip their a–es.”
Decades ago, children would run around being children, and on occasions, would be caught misbehaving by neighbors. If the adults knew the parents, they might call them or they might give them a few swats. (Some went to far of course) No matter what the status of the adults, the parents WOULD be told and they would be expected to discipline the little brats. (Some of the punishments were very creative and not physical. Ask me how I know)
However, things changed in the 1960’s and in general, not for the better. Now we have children who are spoiled, out of control brats who think they can do anything they want, up to and including murder. There have been cases were teens killed someone because they wanted to see what it was like.
The suspects in the triple homicide were involved in a burglary and robbery ring and stole their firearms from cars, Woods said.
I would have a few questions to the gun owners, but I suspect that they were carrying their guns and then found they needed to go someplace that is a “Gun Free Zone.” They had to leave their firearms in their vehicles. Even police and federal agents have had guns stolen from their cars, including automatic weapons.
“A simple burglary, as some people would say — but I don’t consider anything ‘simple’ when it comes to a burglary — if the law allows me, I’ll plaster their face up … on my page, on media, I will hand it out if the law allows me because parents have the right to know who their kids are hanging out with and preventing this,” Woods said.
One of the reasons we don’t see this is that many of these kids might do something really stupid, and once dealt with, they clean up their acts and go on to be productive members of society. The problem here is that to many of these little monsters have been getting away with repeated crimes. Since they think that no one will know or do anything about it, they keep escalating until they hit the “Big Leagues.”
He continued, “Our school districts, not just here, across this state and across this nation need to stop minimizing the actions of their students. Hold them accountable. That’s where the failure is.”
They are considering whether or not to try these punks as adults, including the 12 year old. As far as I’m concerned, if that 12 year old pulled a trigger or aided in the murder, then yes, try him as an adult. Perhaps, if convicted, hold him in a juvenile facility until he’s 18 and then transfer him to a standard prison until his sentence is completed. (I don’t favor execution in this case. The older ones? That’s a tossup)
We have been raising a generation of little sociopaths, and this is all due to the Progressives and what passes for their ideas. For millennium the mantra was “Spare the rod and spoil the child.” Now it’s participation trophies and helicopter parents who refuse to see their spawn is just plain bad seed. At some point you need to lock them up and throw away the key.
