And now, the Wagner Group Conspiracy Theories begin

Good day all. It seems that Russia had some excitement over the weekend when the Russian PMC, (the modern term for mercenaries), the Wagner Group, apparently mutinied and started driving on Moscow. They made it halfway there, virtually unopposed before their leader called a halt to the proceedings. Now people are wondering if there wasn’t some sort of plan in place.

Russians live, breathe and die conspiracies. We like to indulge in them ourselves, from time to time. However, a lot of things that were declared to be conspiracies, primarily claims regarding the Covid-19 Panicdemic, and the Biden’s corruption have ended up to be actually the truth.

I’ve started seeing some theories pop up with regards to the Wagner Group’s mutiny, march on Moscow and their sudden stop. Just looking at what happened, the whole thing doesn’t make any sense. So, why not come up with a few ideas on what “Really” happened?

1. The Ukrainians paid off the Wagner Group.

The Pentagon recently announced that they had sent $6 billion dollars more in aid to the Ukraine then they were supposed to. When the Wagner Group mutinied, one of the things they did was take the primary supply and support depots in Rostov-on-the-Don. This would have disrupted the Russian forces in the Ukraine as the Ukrainian’s counter offensive got underway.

The Wagner Group’s charge towards Moscow would have forced the Russians to redeploy forces to stop them. This would have lessened the resistance against the Ukrainian counteroffensive as the Russian forces ran out of fuel and munitions. (Russian logistics has not been a model the world wants to emulate)

2. The Pentagon over-payment to the Ukraine never actually happened and was really sent to the Wagner Group as a retainer in case of need by the American Democrat Party.

The news of the sweetheart plea deal that Hunter Biden is getting has enraged the Republicans and further shown America that there is a two tiered justice system in the United States. When the deal was first announced, people started paying attention. The the OceanGate mini-sub imploded and sank on its way to the Titanic, (It actually made it. Of course it’s now a permanent fixture of the debris field)

News recently came out that the Navy had determined the OceanGate Titan had imploded with the loss of all on board within a day of the event. However, news of this was withheld and a massive search and rescue operation that lasted the better part of a week took place. Now people think the whole thing was cooked up to protect the Bidens, and now that the wreckage has been found, they needed something else in the news to distract people, hence the Wagner Group mutiny and move on Moscow.

3. The whole thing was cooked up by Vladimir Putin as an excuse to “Clean House.”

The head of the Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin, has been a long time crony of Putin. It really doesn’t make sense for him to turn on his friend and benefactor. On the other hand, the invasion of the Ukraine has shown the world that the “Vaunted Russian Military” was an absolute joke. The Wagner Group “Mutinying” and driving on Moscow to get rid of those who “Failed Russia” might be a means for Putin to get rid of a number of generals and others who have so thoroughly botched the Ukrainian invasion.

The sudden stop by Yevgeny Prigozhin halfway to Moscow makes sense if there was never any intention of actually mounting a coup against Putin. That the Wagner Group covered a good 300 miles as quickly as they did with no real interference and with nothing in Moscow to stop his forces if they arrived showed that the “Vaunted Russian Military” and Internal Security forces were woefully unprepared for a mutiny. Add to this that I don’t recall Yevgeny Prigozhin actually saying anything bad about Putin himself. His attacks were on the Russian Military leadership.

4. Yevgeny Prigozhin was actually trying to remove the generals who have mismanaged the entire operation in the Ukraine.

There is little doubt that Yevgeny Prigozhin hates the military leadership and the feeling is mutual. They have been using the Wagner Group as little more then cannon fodder and bullet catchers. From what I’ve read in the past, they have also been shortchanging the Wagner Group when it comes to supplies and not providing the support they needed when they were on the attack. He may have basically snapped and went after the local command structure in Rostov-on-the-Don.

With the ease he had at taking control, he may have thought that driving into Moscow and “Cleaning House” was actually viable. However, he had no interest in actually overthrowing Putin, and when he reached the halfway mark, suddenly realized that “Hey! I might actually do this and become the new leader!” Since he doesn’t actually want to rule Russia, he opened communications with Putin and they cooked up a deal.

5. Yevgeny Prigozhin actually did want to overthrow Putin.

Next we have the possibility that Yevgeny Prigozhin had decided that yes, he did want to overthrow Putin and become the new Tsar. However, his family was in Moscow and their security might not have been as tight as he needed, and Putin let him know that he could “Get them” at any time.

Since Prigozhin didn’t want his family to “Accidentally fall from the windows on the 16^th floor of a hospital,” he made an agreement with Putin and is going to retire to a nice Dacha in Belarus. He worked out a deal that got him and all those who took part in the “Mutiny” full pardons. We shall see how long Prigozhin actually survives in exile/retirement and what happens to the 25K mercenaries who took part in the mutiny.
