Good day all. When the Republicans took over the House of Representatives, the January 6th committee went out of business. (It helped that the two RINO’s on the committee either “retired” or were utterly destroyed in their primary) Shortly after failed Speaker Kevin McCarthy took control, several hours of video from January 2th 2020 were released.
What the videos showed was nothing like the claims of the committee. With the promise of more videos to be released, Tucker Carlson was summarily fired by Fox News to shut him up. (That didn’t work out to well) McCarthy at that point stopped any further release of the videos. Now he’s gone and a new speaker who isn’t a Deep State Uniparty tool is in charge and he’s releasing pretty much all of the 40K hours of videos.
Now we have a member of the Senate who wants to investigate the January 6th Committee. The video footage that was previously released showed a lot of exculpatory footage that the committee either ignored or hid. Here are the details from Fox News:
Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee is calling for an investigation into the now-defunct House January 6 committee, accusing former and current lawmakers who served on the committee of “deliberately” hiding some of the footage from the Capitol riots.
Lee’s comments came after House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., began releasing more than 40,000 hours of footage taken at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, when protesters angry about the 2020 election results entered the halls of Congress.
Highlighting the release of the footage in a series of posts to X, formerly known as Twitter, Lee called into question the character of former Republican representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.
“Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them. Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative. Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat,” Lee wrote in a post to the platform, which included a video that purportedly showed Capitol police officers facilitating the passage of protesters through the building that day.
Cheney was the Republican representative from Wyoming. Then the lying RINO fraud went full never Trump. She was so bad, she lot her position in the House leadership and eventually suffered one of the worst primary defeats in recent memory. (I think she lost by 40%) Kinzinger was always a RINO and a Deep Stater. He was and is a spineless coward. He retired from the House in 2022 when he figured out he was going to lose his reelection bid.
Cheney and Kinzinger, Lee wrote in another post to X, were “people who helped hide the J6 tapes” and “are cut out of the same cloth as those who will tell you that FISA 702 must be reauthorized without reforms—’because search warrants require too much effort.'”
“We need to investigate the J6 committee,” he wrote in another post.
There is a major split happening in the Republican Party. On the one side, you have the Populist Make America Great Again Republicans who actually represent their constituents. Then you have the RINO’s, TransRepublicans and Big Government Chamber of Commerce Establishment Republicans who really aren’t that different from the Democrats. (See Brain Freeze Mitch McConnell)
Lee also took aim at the committee overall, as well as then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who appointed the select committee to investigate what took place at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“Given the evidence they apparently suppressed, how much footage (and how many other records) do you think Nancy Pelosi and the J6 committee deliberately lost or destroyed?” Lee questioned in one post.
Oh I suspect quite a bit of it. We already know that the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump, had offered days earlier to bring in the National Guard to help maintain order. San Fran Nan refused the offer. The Capitol Police were not properly staffed or equipped for the more rambunctious protesters, (And how many of them were federal agents acting as Agents Provocateurs, trying to ramp things up?), and when the military tried to brief Pelosi, all she was interested in was lunch.
Senator Lee posted a response to Lizard Cheney’s post in TwitterX. Cheney posted some of the same old footage of protesters tangling with police. Senator Lee was having none of that.
“Liz, we’ve seen footage like that a million times. You made sure we saw that — and nothing else. It’s the other stuff — what you deliberately hid from us — that we find so upsetting. Nice try.”
“P.S. How many of these guys are feds? (As if you’d ever tell us),” Lee added in his response to the former lawmaker.
Now Speaker Johnson is in the process of releasing the remaining footage. We’ve already seen some of the things that the J6 committee hid from public view. We’ve also seen how protesters, in most cases, basically acted like tourists. They took pictures and actually stayed in the roped off lanes that tourists use.
The whole January 6th Committee was nothing more then a kangaroo court to “Get Trump!” It was never about finding out who instigated some of the actions or getting to the truth. What they did was manufacture a narrative that had no basis in truth. As for the investigation? It will have to be handled in the House since the Republicans control it. Nothing will happen in the Senate with UpChuck Schumer and the Democrats in charge in the Senate. It may take time, but we will get to the truth.
