Good day all. New York City made itself a “Sanctuary City” and said it would not hand over illegal aliens they caught committing crimes to ICE to be deported. When Biden opened the borders, the southern states, especially Texas, were buried under a tidal wave of criminal aliens. There answer was simple. They started shipping them to Sanctuary cities since they said they wanted them.

This action, basically forcing the Sanctuary cities to put up or shut up, caused them to panic. New York City, which was one of the biggest Virtue Signalers in the whole “They are just migrants and we must welcome them!” mantra a few years ago. Now they are running out of money and places to put the illegals.
They’ve already announced they’re cutting services for Americans and Legal Resident Aliens, the ones who pay taxes, including police staffing. Now New York City is going after some of the most helpless and truly deserving, the elderly. Here are the details from Fox News:
Frank Tammaro, a 94-year-old Army veteran, loved the senior center he’d called home for five years until he was told to find somewhere new to live.
“I felt horrible,” Tammaro told Fox News. “It’s no joke getting thrown out of a house.”
Months later, after two moves and an injury that put him in the hospital, the senior was living with his daughter when he learned migrants were moving into his old residence, free of charge.
The Fox News article goes into details regarding the notice to Mr. Tammaro. He admits that he didn’t pay attention to it until he was finally told that he only had a few weeks to find someplace else to live.
The facility’s owner, a New York City nonprofit called Homes for the Homeless, said in a statement that it intended to sell Island Shores “to focus on its core mission of serving homeless families” and the preferred buyer “would be another senior operator.”
Staff assured the upset seniors that Island Shores would likely be sold and reopened. However, Tammaro’s daughter, Barbara Annunziata, was skeptical of the claim and reached out to the building’s management for answers.
“We knew something was going to go in there,” Annunziata said. “They kept saying, ‘oh, they’re going to sell it. They’re going to sell it.’ That’s what they kept telling me.”
That turned out to not be entirely accurate.
In August, Tammaro found out along with the rest of the community that Homes for the Homeless had made an arrangement with city hall to move migrants into Island Shores.
First, these are not migrants. A migrant is a person who goes through the immigration process and immigrates to the United States lawfully. These are criminals. They crossed the border and are now getting taxpayer funded handouts that Americans such as Mr. Tammaro don’t.
The facility was one of 200 buildings converted into emergency shelters to house some of the 130,000 migrants that landed in New York City after crossing the southern border since October 2022.
The influx of asylum seekers has stretched the city’s budget and many of its services to their limits, with Mayor Eric Adams saying they are in “a desperate environment” during his trip to Mexico in October. And with 10,000 new refugees entering the city each month, he said there is “no end” in sight.
And who is to blame for this mess? Why that would be the worst president* in the history of the United States, Joe Dementia Biden. Mr. Tammaro worked his whole life and service his country. He paid taxes for decades, (And probably still does), and the response from the Progressive Liberal Democrats was to throw him out of the place he expected to spend his last days in.
In September, 15 asylum-seeking families moved into the Island Shores. As the news spread, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the facility, and 10 people were arrested for trying to block a bus with migrants from reaching the building, according to law enforcement.
“I don’t understand it at all. It’s not fair to anybody,” Annunziata said. “These migrants, they’re getting everything. They’re getting everything and I can’t get nothing for [Tammaro]. It angers me.”
She said she’s struggled to get help for her father. His insurance rejected any long-term request for care.
“I can’t even get him an aide. I only could get him an aide for 30 days and then they cancel it,” Annunziata told Fox News. “So what, he has to pay for it then?”
“Meanwhile, [migrants] get everything. And he’s not entitled to anything,” she added
Mr. Tammaro is now living with his daughter, who is trying to do her best. She is furious with how her father was treated and like most Americans, is angry that criminal aliens are getting preferential treatment at the expense of American Citizens. I do have a question for Ms. Annunziata. Who did you vote for in the last elections? The Democrats or the Republicans? If the latter, well, you tried to make things better. If the former?
Hopefully your father’s remaining time will be comfortable and won’t impact you to much financially. It sounds like your father took care of things to the best of his abilities and you are all getting screwed by things outside of your direct control. Just remember all this in 2024.
