Good day all. The illegally appointed Special Counsel, Jack Smith is, among other things, spending huge sums to “Get Trump!” On the other hand, the Special Counsel investigating the Biden Crime Family hasn’t spent anywhere near as much.
One of the problems in the past when we used to have independent counsels and special prosecutors, was their tendency to treat the taxpayers as money trees. It looks like Jack Smith is no different. Here are the details from the Epoch Times:
Jack Smith, the special counsel leading two investigations—alleged election interference and classified document mishandling—into former President Donald Trump, has spent $9.3 million more than the special counsel investigating President Joe Biden’s alleged document mishandling probe.
The sharp difference in spending was disclosed in the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Special Counsel’s Office (SCO) expense reports—including Mr. Smith’s latest statement of expenditures and special counsel Robert Hur’s latest statement of expenditures—both of which cover the six month period between April 1, 2023, and Sept. 30, 2023.
Earlier expense reports for the two special counsels—Nov. 18, 2022, through March 31, 2023, for Mr. Smith and Jan. 12, 2023, through March 31, 2023, for Mr. Hur—round out the picture.
The reports show that Mr. Smith spent $7.3 million in the six months ending Sept. 30, 2023, on his two investigations into President Trump, raising his total expenses to nearly $12.7 million.
By comparison, Mr. Hur’s investigation into President Biden’s classified document case cost $2.8 million between April and September of last year. In the previous period between Jan. 12, 2023 (the day of Mr. Hur’s appointment) and March 31, 2023, his office spent around $616,000, bringing the total to roughly $3.4 million.
I have to say I’m not surprised at the differences. On the one hand, you have the corrupt, illegally appointed Jack Smith who’s sole mission is to “Get Trump!” by any means necessary. On the other hand you have Robert Hur who’s mission statement is a bit different. His job is to do absolutely nothing that might put Joe Biden into prison.
Protecting the Biden Crime Family is job number one for the Department of Justice under the most corrupt Attorney General in American History, Merrick Garland. (Garland has, in my opinion surpassed the three AG’s who actually went to jail. Two under Nixon and one under Clinton) Garland has pretty much given Smith a blank check to manufacturing the evidence to “Get Trump!” How much money does it take to pretend to examine records, and generate reports that basically say “Nothing to see here.”
There is currently a hearing regarding the legality of Smith’s appointment. I have not checked Robert Hur’s appointment to see if he’s been through a senate confirmation for another role. (As John Durham went through) If he’s another case of Garland just doing as he pleases, then Hur will be shown the door as well. Perhaps Robert Hur knows this and is trying to save money. He sure isn’t actually doing anything regarding Biden’s theft of classified documents going back to his Senate days.
This is all arcane budgeting stuff of course. It will take one of the oversight committees to sit down and go through all the records of both investigators to see what they were actually spending money on. I’m not holding my breath on that one.
