YouTube tried to pull the Rogan/Trump conversation

Good day all. Monday, October 28th, I posted a short entry on the Joe Rogan conversation with Donald Trump. At the time, the interview had been watched on YouTube about 30 million times. That would be on top of the views on Spotify where Joe Rogan lives. (I’ve heard another 20+ million views there as well.

As part of the post, I embedded the video so that the 5 or so people who view this site could watch it. It looks like this was a good decision on my part. Apparently, YouTube and Google decided to suppress the video by removing it from search results. Here are the details from the New York Post:

Podcaster Joe Rogan’s highly-watched interview with former President Donald Trump has racked up more than 35 million views but fans searching for it on YouTube may have a hard time finding it — leading to accusations of censorship against the Google-owned site.

A search on YouTube using the terms “Joe Rogan Trump” or “Joe Rogan Donald Trump” did not bring up Friday’s three-hour sit-down at the top of the list. The Spotify interview also was notably absent from YouTube’s trending page on Monday.

Instead, users were offered results of videos from traditional media outlets, like The Hill, MSNBC and Fox News, and their coverage of the interview.

An unrelated clip from “Saturday Night Live” even topped the results ahead of Rogan’s interview.

I wasn’t able to confirm that YouTube sabotaged the search for the Rogan/Trump conversation. When I tested the search feature using Rogan Trump as the search term, the actual podcast came up. I later heard on the WDWPro Show today that YouTube had restored the search results. I think I discovered the reason for this. Joe Rogan has posted the entire show on TwitterX.

The difficulty in finding the video has led many Trump fans to accuse Google of censorship ahead of next week’s election.

YouTube does not return the link to the full Joe Rogan/Trump interview no matter how I try to search for it,” one user said in a post on X. “There is no sensible explanation for this, and if deliberate, Google is overtly interfering with the elections.”

From what I understand, Joe Rogan has a contract with Spotify. Spotify is the priority platform and that Rogan’s podcasts can be posted on YouTube. Since it looks like Google and YouTube decided to play games with the search results, Rogan decided that TwitterX would be an excellent backup platform.

YouTube and Google were hammered over this apparent censorship attempt and deservedly so. Google is already looking over it’s shoulder at a potential antitrust suit and if that happens, they’ll probably lose and lose badly. Elon Musk is already looking to improve TwitterX to compete against YouTube.

I think we’re seeing the absolute blind panic that is now hitting the Progressive Liberal Democrats and their friends in Big Tech. They were able to drag Joe Biden’s carcass across the line and install him into the White House in 2020. Since then, they’ve lost Twitter and now President Trump’s Truth Social is starting to take off. (Update on this. I just saw that Truth Social is now more valuable then TwitterX) If things go the way I hope they do next week, the next four years are going to be very interesting for Google and not in a good way.
