Good day all. Once again, Kalifornistan is on fire. This time, it looks even worse than usual. Why you may ask? One reason is the Santa Ana winds coming in, blowing up to 80 miles per hour. The other? The utter and complete incompetence of the political leadership of the state.

There are two major issues that have come out, along with the other, usual issues. The first one was major cuts by Los Angeles to the Fire Department budget. The other? There is no water available to fight the fires.

The Kalifornistan Democrat party, which basically controls all aspects of life in Kalifornistan, has not been covering itself in glory. At the moment, everyone, from Govno Hair Gel Newsom on down is trying to throw anyone else under the bus to save themselves. One of the things that these morons have done is cut $100 million from the budget to prevent and fight forest fires. Here are those details from Fox News:
A review of last year’s California state budget shows California Gov. Gavin Newsom cut funding for wildfire and forest resilience by more than $100 million.
The budget, signed in June and covering the 2024-25 fiscal year, eliminated $101 million from seven “wildfire and forest resilience” programs, according to a report from Newsweek.
The one thing Kalifornistan is noted for is forest fires. The one thing that the state and local governments should be doing is setting aside funds to first prevent and second put out fires before they can do to much damage. Instead, they’ve been wasting taxpayer funds on things like protecting criminals and illegal aliens from being deported.
Cal Fire had a $5 million reduction in spending on fuel reduction teams, including funds used to pay for vegetation management work by the California National Guard, the report noted.
This was supposed to clear out all the brush, dead trees and branches that are nothing more then tinder to a fire. This was just the start of the Democrat’s stupidity.
$28 million cut from multiple state conservancies that expand wildfire resilience
$12 million cut from a “home hardening” experiment that would protect homes from wildfires
$8 million cut from monitoring and research spending, mostly dedicated to Cal Fire and state universities
$4 million cut from the forest legacy program, which encourages landowners to manage their properties
$3 million cut from funding for an inter-agency forest data hub
Of course, Govno Gavin “Hair Gel” Newsom is not just denying this, he and his people are calling it a lie.
Newsom’s director of communications, Izzy Gardon, called the budget cuts a “ridiculous lie,” in a statement to Fox News Digital Friday night.
“The governor has doubled the size of our firefighting army, built the world’s largest aerial firefighting fleet and the state has increased the forest management ten-fold since he took office,” she wrote. “Facts matter.”

His office attached statistics that refer to the overall increase in spending and personnel over a number of years since he took office in 2019, as opposed to commenting on the most recent cuts.
There are white lies, damn lies, Statistics and then anything a Democrat office holder says. Back in 2014, the voters approved infrastructure spending to massively upgrade the water collection and storage systems. Because of politics, almost nothing has been done. Add to that, Kalifornistan has been releasing fresh water into the Pacific ocean instead of storing it for years. Why? Because of a damn fish.
It looks like people in Kalifornistan have had it with Newsom, LA Mayor Bass and all the bureaucrats in Sacramento who have put Woke, politically correct garbage ahead of competence and public safety. People are calling for Newsom and Bass to resign. Newsom has already fought off one recall effort. If another kicks off, I don’t think he’ll survive this one This is one reason Newsom and his people are throwing anyone they can blame under the bus. I don’t think it’s going to work.
As of this post, the fires are out of control. Some 12,000 structures have been destroyed and at least 11 people have died. The fires are now advancing on Brentwood and Encino. One of the major issues are the Santa Ana winds. These are pushing the fires and making it all but impossible to contain the fires. I don’t know what might happen if the fires hit the city proper and you start seeing high rise buildings igniting.
I can’t say if this is possible, but if an actual firestorm kicks off in Los Angeles, you could see the entire city leveled. (Think Dresden, Germany in World War Two after a few days of attention from the 8th Airforce and the RAF Bomber command) If that happens, well, I’m sorry but you people voted for all this.

Having survived a house fire that was thankfully put out before it could do significant damage to the house itself (the actual fire damage was restricted to my kitchen, thank God, and was put out by my truly excellent local fire department -the rest of the house only got soot and smoke), I don’t wish it upon anyone. I hope and pray these fires get contained and that Californians finally see in this incident that their state government cares nothing for them or their well-being.
What we’re seeing out there is the utter incompetence of the elected and appointed officials at the local and state level. I’m not sure if criminal charges could be leveled against the mayor or governor, but they need to be completely ruined.
Fires happen out there, but the mitigation and prevention systems were blocked by political “Feelz.”
