Good day all. It’s been a couple of weeks since Mark Zuckerberg visited President Trump and then announced that Meta, Facebook’s holding company, was ending the use of fact checkers and instead going to Community Notes similar to what TwitterX has done.
This has not made the Fact Checkers union very happy. They first held an emergency meeting to figure out what they were going to do. Then they fact checked Facebook for dumping fact checkers. Now they are worried that the Fact Checking industry may go bankrupt and shut down. Here are the details from Fox News:
A network of fact-checkers is set to lose a major source of revenue and may even close shop after Facebook parent company Meta announced it would terminate their contracts and move towards a system closer to X’s Community Notes.
“We don’t have much time left. At this rate, we are done in a few months,” Check Your Fact managing editor, Jesse Stiller, told Fox News Digital.
“We were blindsided by this. This was totally unexpected and out of left field for us. We weren’t aware this decision was being considered until Mark dropped the video overnight. We have no idea what the future looks like for the website going forward,” he added.
Oh I can hazard a guess what your future will be. It will consist of a sign on the door that says “Out of business.” followed by the address of the local unemployment office and the number of the “Censors Support group.”
Prior to the announcement, Meta repeatedly stressed they were committed to supporting a long-term independent fact-checking industry to address “misinformation” online.
There was a small problem with this. People that were being censored suspended and banned due to these so called “Fact Checkers” had enough. People were leaving the platform in droves and others were looking for some way to legally drop the hammer on these Communist turds.
In an April 2022 blog post, Meta claimed it had built the “largest global fact-checking network of any platform” and contributed more than $100 million to fact-checking programs since 2016.
Allow me to correct that for you. Meta had built the largest global censorship and speech suppression network of any platform.
Meta did not reply when asked how much money it had given to third-party fact-checkers before announcing the end of the program in early January 2025.
If they paid a dollar, it was to much and the stockholders should be asking some very pointed questions. Far to often, probably most of the time, the posts they claimed were “Misinformation” were in fact very accurate, especially with regards to all the Covid-19 stuff.
According to the company’s website, Meta began prioritizing “additional support and resources” for fact-checkers in early 2020 to combat health “misinformation.”
Translation: The Biden regime told us to take down anything that they didn’t approve of.
IFCN created the CoronaVirusFacts Alliance, in which nearly 100 fact-checking organizations in more than 70 countries produced over 11,000 fact-checks about COVID-19 across 40 languages. Seven fact-checking organization projects specifically focused on vaccine “misinformation.”
Small problem. All that “Misinformation” turned out to be accurate. That didn’t stop the Facebook censors fact checkers from removing posts and banning users due to their posts going against the Narratives being pushed by the Biden Maladministration.
In August, Zuckerberg admitted that the Biden White House had pressured Meta to censor some health information during the pandemic.
After the release of the Twitter Files, and just how deeply ingrained into Twitter the FBI and other three letter agencies were, anyone with any common sense knew that Facebook was also “Just following orders.” and shutting down any dissent.
The censorship network was extensive and global. Meta provided funds to these petty little nazis to pay for their censors and their, well, lies and Progressive propaganda.
Meta later gave the IFCN a $1 million “Climate Misinformation Grant.” The grant, in part, provided funding to organizations working to combat “climate misinformation” and supported collaborative partnerships between fact-checkers and “climate experts.”
Climate experts? You mean all the people that didn’t have actual degrees in climatology? These people? You mean the same people who would denounce anyone who would provide factual data and information on things like the location of weather stations in the middle of an asphalt parking lot or next to a heat exhaust vent? Those people?
The company also provided funding for fact-checkers to “increase their capacity to promote reliable information” ahead of the 2022 elections in various countries, including the U.S., Australia, France and India.
Reliable information my left butt cheek. In the last few years, all their “Reliable information” has been pretty well discredited by actual, hard data.
In the United States, Meta worked with the following third-party fact-checkers: AFP – Hub, Check Your Fact, Factcheck.org, Lead Stories, PolitiFact, Science Feedback, Reuters Fact Check, TelevisaUnivision, The Dispatch and USA Today.
That’s a nice list of hard left Progressive propaganda organizations whose sole reason to exist was to go after anyone who dared question the Progressive narratives.
All 10 of these partners are expected to lose their funding. It is unclear when or if Meta’s changes will affect overseas fact-checkers.
Since the pivot away from third-party fact-checking, several of these fact-checking organizations with financial ties to the tech conglomerate have issued statements critical of Zuckerberg and Meta’s claims of political bias.
Apparently, these “Fact checkers” were paid for every published fact check. If that sounds like a recipe for abuse, you’re correct. This is the reason that when someone challenged the so called fact check, they were denied and probably banned. If the fact that was checked actually proved accurate, then the fact checkers didn’t get paid.
For example, PolitiFact, according to its financial disclosures, earned over five percent of its 2024 revenue from the partnership.
PolitiFact told Fox News Digital that the organization, one of the original participants in Meta’s third-party fact-checking program, will be affected by the company’s decision to discontinue it.
Politifact, being in complete denial that they were nothing more than a Progressive Liberal tool to suppress any and all dissent, doesn’t seem to have grasped that people have had enough. The election, not only of President Trump, but others who are center/right around the world should be obvious, but hey, liberals.
“Facts are not censorship. Fact-checkers never censored anything. And Meta always held the cards. It’s time to quit invoking inflammatory and false language in describing the role of journalists and fact-checking,” Brown said.
No, actually, it isn’t. In fact we need to ramp it up. In case this clown hasn’t noticed, Disney/ABC recently settled a lawsuit by President Trump, and just last week, CNN was hammered in court, losing another libel/defamation suit. (They’re coughing up $5 million in actual damages and apparently settled the punitive damages before the jury could confiscate their wallets.)
Lead Stories, a Facebook fact-checker employing several former CNN alumni, told The New York Times that it is now doing a large chunk of its work for TikTok’s parent company, Bytedance. Meta was previously the fact-checker’s primary client.
How’s that working out for you? As I write this, TikTok has been banned in the United States and has shut down. (It might come back after the inauguration, however that’s another story)
The company was shocked by Zuckerberg’s announcement, considering Lead Stories signed a new yearlong contract with Meta just three weeks ago. Lead Stories admitted that it would see a drop in revenue after severing ties with Meta—a reality that will result in a “staffing reduction,” according to co-founder Alan Duke.
“Cutting fact-checkers from social platforms is like disbanding your fire department,” he told CNN in early January.
The level of delusion and denial by these petty little Fascists is a thing to behold. They are so out of touch with reality that they might actually be a danger to themselves and others. I decided to take a look at Lead Stories to see what they are like.
Yeah.
The web site looks like something a High School sophomore might have put together. I have no actual design talent, which anyone who visits this site can tell, but I do provide ways to contact me or the Angry Systems Administrator. There is no contact information that I can find on their site. This tells me that the last thing they want is to have to deal with people reaching out and complaining, or showing them just how wrong they are.
These organizations deserve to fail. Those who make a living by censoring content that they don’t like should starve in a cold, dark alley. They, like all totalitarians, can’t handle anyone with a differing opinion to their own. Elon Musk figured it out. The best way to deal with incorrect information is to provide more information. That is the reason for the Community notes. I’m sure that all these fact checkers will have little trouble finding jobs in the food service industry.
