AOC is actually frightened that she might go to prison

Good day all. For the last 6 weeks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has been rounding up the worst of the worst illegal aliens. They’ve also grabbed any other illegals who happened to be available and deporting the lot of them. This has sent the Democrats into paroxysms of rage. One of the loudest has been, not surprisingly, Alexandria Occasio-Cortez.

Alexandria Occasio-Cortez, also known as Alexandria Occasional-Cortex and more commonly as AOC, is not known as one of the brighter bulbs in the House of Representatives. Actually, she is downright stupid. She has also decried any efforts to deport illegal aliens.

Recently, she held a “Webinar” on how Illegal Aliens could avoid being picked up by ICE and thrown out of the United States. When Border Czar Tom Homan heard about this, he said that this could be a violation of 8 U.S. Code § 1324 of the United States Criminal Code and asked Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice to investigate. It seems that they may have actually started doing just that. Why? AOC is in panic that she might actually be held accountable for one of her actions. Here are the details from the Populist Times:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is demanding answers from Attorney General Pam Bondi after border czar Tom Homan suggested she could now be under federal investigation for advising illegal aliens on how to respond to visits from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a letter, Ocasio-Cortez questioned whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) had succumbed to “political pressure” following Homan’s calls to investigate her actions. Homan requested Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to investigate AOC over efforts to help illegals avoid deportation. However, Ocasio-Cortez said she never received any formal notice of the inquiry and now demands that Bondi provide her with transparency on the situation.

There is a process that has to be followed when it comes to investigations. One of these is a very basic “Was a crime committed here?” query. A law enforcement investigator, when told that something might have happened, will do a quick check to see if anything “Jumps out.” This might take a few days. If they don’t see anything, then the matter is dropped and generally forgotten.

Now if a formal investigation has opened, I’m not sure what information may be or is provided to the target. Obviously, if they need to do a search of personal documents and property, then the appropriate legal documents will be prepared and served. Since AOC shot her mouth off in public, no warrants are needed at this time. Still, AOC is panicking.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a letter to Bondi:

I write to request clarity on whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) has yielded to political pressure and attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they disagree with.

Over the past two weeks, ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan has gone on multiple forums threatening political prosecution against me, citing resources I distributed informing my constituents and the American public of their constitutional and legal rights.”

Ok then, I can see why this moron is so worried. Right off the bat, she is confusing American Citizens and Legal Resident Aliens with Illegal Aliens. ICE is not looking at either Citizens, (No reason to after all, they are citizens), or Legal Resident Aliens. (They are here legally, unlike those that AOC considers to be her “Constituents”)

AOC then went on to accuse Homan of weaponizing federal law enforcement against political opponents, claiming it is a violation of her First Amendment rights.

There is a small difference between free speech and actively aiding and abetting a crime Alexandria. The statute Homan is referring to and which I listed above makes it illegal to provide assistance to illegal aliens in avoiding arrest. Also, the last I checked, you didn’t go to law school and you haven’t passed the Bar Exams. You can’t claim these criminals as clients.

The congresswoman demanded the DOJ respond to her inquiry about whether she or her office was actively under investigation for “executing congressional responsibilities” by March 5.

I’m sure they will get right back to her. Of course, it could be with a warrant for her arrest.

She further accused Homan of attempting to use [the DOJ] to politically “intimidate” duly elected officials.

What an idiot. She is, in the usual Progressive Liberal Democrat manner, accusing everyone else of what she, or in this case, the Democrats, have been doing for the last four years. I can see she doesn’t like it to much when the target is her and not those she considers her political enemies.

Now this all started with that stupid Webinar. We have already seen several cases where confidential information on ICE raids and the identities of Federal Agents were made public. This was blatant interference and I’ve seen reports that DHS and the DOJ may have identified some of the leakers. (That’s another story) Since Tom Homan’s job is to expel all the illegal aliens, anything that interferes with this could be illegal. He contacted the DoJ for an opinion on AOC’s antics.

Homan told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham that AOC’s actions could be impeding federal law enforcement efforts:

And I sent an email today to the Deputy Attorney General. At what level is that impediment? I’m not an attorney, I’m not a prosecutor. Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts?”

And that is a question any layman in Mr. Homan’s position is right to ask. Is what AOC did an illegal act? This is a bit different then demanding the DoJ arrest her, not that AOC would understand this.

Homan suggested Ocasio-Cortez may have crossed a legal boundary, adding:

So maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now, but I need the AOG to opine on that. Because impediment is impediment in my opinion.”

So Mr. Homan thinks that what AOC did does break the federal statute on aiding and abetting illegal immigration. However, he acknowledges that he is not qualified to say that this is the case and he is seeking the advice of someone who is, in fact qualified to make that determination. What’s the problem here?

Personally, I agree with Tom Homan. I think Alexandria Occasio-Cortez did cross the line and did break the law. However, like Tom Homan, I am not a lawyer and when it comes to an actual legal question such as this, I would ask someone who is a lawyer and who can do a quick check to see if a law may have been broken.

Now it’s possible that yes, the determination has been made that AOC finally went to far. If that is the case, then there are a few possible outcomes. The DoJ recommends to the House that she either be censured or expelled, or the DoJ gives her a choice. Resign from office and be black listed from any position of trust or be prosecuted. Finally, they just arrest her and put her on trial and make an example of her. Personally, I think Option 3 is the preferred outcome.

Still, watching that idiot, who has been getting away with all sorts of nonsense for years, finally realizing that there are people in office who won’t put up with her crap any longer is a joy to behold. It would be interesting if the DoJ does reply, “We have received a complaint regarding possible unlawful activities on your part. We are reviewing that complaint now. Thank you.” and they just leave it there….for a few months. Watching AOC lose her shit on the House Floor will be so much fun.
