Good day all. The sun rises in the east, Water is wet, the sky is blue and once again the federal government is about to run out of money. For the last umpteen years, instead of doing their job and passing a budget, Congress has relied on Continuing Resolutions, usually loaded to the gills with waste, to fund the government.

This time, Congress is actually working on a budget. It isn’t quite done yet and since the government won’t be allowed to borrow money after October 1st, the House has passed a basic continuing resolution to allow for the full funding of Fedzilla. It’s been sent to the Senate where the Democrats, both being Democrats and in the minority, are making their usual demands for more spending on things no one wants.

In the past, it’s been the opposite where Republicans have either tried to pass a “Clean” CR, one with no additional spending or refused to pass a pork laden one the Democrats put together, causing the government to shut down…sort of. In all cases, the Democrats have blamed everything on the Republicans and the Republicans at the time, having spines made of jello, have basically caved in.
However, this time things are very different. The Democrats have made their usual demands and threatened to filibuster the continuing resolution, expecting that President Trump and the GOP would once again cave. Instead, President Trump sent out a notice to all the nonmilitary departments to prepare for mass layoffs. Now it’s the Democrats who are panicking. Here are the details from Fox News:
Senate Democrats earlier this year were unwilling to shut down the government over fears of mass firings and deep cuts to spending, but now with a similar threat on the horizon, they seem unwilling to keep the lights on.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and his caucus have further dug into their position in the week that Congress has been away from Washington, D.C., and they appear ready to not provide the needed votes to avert a partial government shutdown by Sept. 30.

The Republicans are calling the Democrats hypocrites for changing their stance on shutting down the government and risking mass layoffs. In the past, they’ve been the ones screaming at the Republicans for “Hoping Grandma dies!” when they wouldn’t bend to the demands of the Democrat party. They also refuse to believe that President Trump means what he says when he instructed the Departments to be ready for mass layoffs.
The OMB circulated a memo to federal agencies this week that directed mass firings of federal employees beyond the typical shutdown furloughs, but Schumer chalked it up to “an attempt at intimidation.”
“Donald Trump has been firing federal workers since day one — not to govern, but to scare,” he said. “This is nothing new and has nothing to do with funding the government. These unnecessary firings will either be overturned in court or the administration will end up hiring the workers back, just like they did as recently as today.”

Talk about not getting the message. President Trump was elected to do a number of things. One of these was to massively reduce the size of the federal government. The other was to get the out of control and unaccountable spending shut down. These are two things that are diametrically opposite of what the Democrats want.
The want out of control spending by unaccountable bureaucrats because they get kickbacks. When USAID was closed down, a number of NGO’s lost all their funding. We’ve been learning that a lot of those NGO’s were being used to launder taxpayer funds for Democrats. This is why so many people become multimillionaires in Congress on salaries of around $150K/year. (Or whatever it is currently)
When asked if he was concerned by what could happen if the government closed, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., countered that it was a “political question.”
“That’s not the way I think about it,” he told Fox News Digital. “I represent a Virginia that’s been ravaged by what Donald Trump has done to the federal workforce, federal contractors.”

“Donald Trump is doing stuff that hurts the country,” he continued. “Donald Trump told Republicans not even to talk, to negotiate with Democrats on this.”

This is the standard mindset of the Progressive Liberal Communists Democrats. They only see the average American as something they user, rule over and control for their own personal benefit. Most Americans have had it with what the Federal Government is doing to them. When asked “Is this what you voted for?”, the answer shocks the Democrats to the point that they deny it’s real.

In March, when it appeared that Schumer would lead Democrats in lockstep to close the government, he backed down and argued that it was a “Hobson’s choice.” Ultimately, he and nine other Senate Democrats advanced the bill.
Most of the hard left communists that have taken control of the Democrat Party, all of whom are stage IV TDS sufferers, were all in favor of shutting down the government. Being stupid communists, they thought they could use it to their advantage. At the time, Schumer understood that it would have played directly into President Trump’s hands.

He, (Senator Schumer), said during a speech on the Senate floor that a shutdown would “give Donald Trump and Elon Musk carte blanche to destroy vital government services,” and it would let the GOP “weaponize their majorities to cherry-pick which parts of the government to reopen.”
Well Duuh, that was the point then and it’s the point now. Large segments of the Federal Government are of questionable constitutionality and some of it is a direct threat to the rights of the individual American citizen. For decades, people have called on their representatives to shut down Fedzilla, only to be ignored. They aren’t going to be ignored any longer.

Schumer and congressional Democrats offered a counter-proposal to the GOP’s CR that included a laundry list of demands, such as permanently extending Obamacare subsidies, repealing the healthcare title of Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” and clawing back billions of canceled funding for NPR and PBS.
Not only was that a nonstarter, it was laughable. When UpChuck Schumer and Hiccup Jeffries asked for a meeting with President Trump, he said fine. He was ready to talk business with those two. However, UpChuck and Hiccup announced what they wanted and President Trump canceled the meeting, saying there was no point to wasting his time since the Democrats weren’t serious.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., like the majority of his Democratic colleagues, was rooted in opposition to the GOP’s short-term extension because of its lack of language to address Obamacare subsidies that expire at the end of this year.
Let them expire. Obamacare was shoved down the throats of the American people and, as everyone expected, has been a dismal failure. As is always the case with the Democrats, they took something that had a few issues, private health insurance, and created a monstrosity that made things worse.
When asked if he was concerned that shutting the government down would give Trump free rein to do as he pleased, Blumenthal told Fox News Digital, “I think Republicans would insist that he follow the law.”
Indeed he will Bloomies. By the way, have you bothered to actually review the statutes in question? They give the President of the United States very wide latitude in determining what gets funded and what doesn’t. At the top of the list is the Department of War. At the bottom of the list? Pretty much everything the Democrats have used to loot the treasury.
What really terrifies the Democrats is what may happen if the “Shutdown” actually happens and goes on for a significant amount of time. With President Trump sending funds to actual critical government functions and shutting all the useless departments, such as the Department of Education, people might discover that they really didn’t need those things after all.

Now there is one last thing to make clear. The Federal Government will not actually shut down. What will happen is that the Federal Government can’t borrow money and has to live on what funds come in through fees and taxes. One of the things that is going to help are the tariffs. Much to the consternation of the “Free Traders” and economists, those tariffs are generating a lot of revenue for the United States government, funds that the President and the Treasury can put to good use.
We can expect the Legacy Media to lie about what is going on, but America has their number and doesn’t pay much attention to them any longer. They will go out and find the few people who might actually be hurt, and then use them to try and Get Trump and the Republicans. I don’t see it working this time around. Stay tuned. Things are going to get interesting.
