Political civil war over the British Union Jack

Good day all. It’s time for an update from across the pond in what used to be Great Britain. Last summer a large protest started over the move by the British Government to destroy the identity of Britain. As part of the protest, people started waving the British flags, the Union Jack and Saint George’s Cross.

The Left, along with the Starmer Labour government basically accused people waving the flags of hate crimes. This only increased the protests as the people grew tired of having their rights suppressed in favor of certain minorities. (Muslims) Now things seem to be heating up. Here are the details from Fox News:

A battle over British identity and the nation’s flag is just the latest issue to widen the political divide in the United Kingdom in 2025. As the Labour government continues to face growing criticism over a number of issues, from cracking down on free speech to its migration policies, many Britons are concerned about their country’s future.

The Starmer Labour Government’s poll numbers are collapsing. Now in the past, this would mean that the fortunes of of the Conservative Party, (Tories), would be increasing, however they aren’t doing so well either. What is happening is that the Reform Party’s fortunes appear to be increasing. The Reform party’s leader, Nigel Farage has come out in full support of waving the British flags.

The issue simmered over the summer amid concerns of a growing rift between the ruling elites and members of the public centered on the nation’s flag.

The literal ruling elites, which includes King Chuck the Wimp, are flat out not listening to the people. They still consider subjects, not citizens, only one level above serfs.

The debate, while ongoing for several years, gained new life since anti-Israel protests erupted after Hamas’ mass terror attack against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, when Britain saw a proliferation of Palestinian flags across the country.

Those flags were from the Muslims and Leftard Labour supporters primarily. Both groups have a long history of anti-semitism.

Tensions were further heightened over the display of Palestinian flags on public buildings, with critics arguing it represents an abandonment of traditional British values, and that immigrant communities are dictating community values.

Several councils in major cities bowed to public pressure. Those cities — all with sizable immigrant communities — including Sheffield, Preston, Bradford and others chose to raise the Palestinian flag last month to honor the United Nations International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Now I am not knowledgeable on British politics or how their councils work. What little I know about them, they make the worst American HOA look downright benevolent and competent. It also shows that patriotism, at least among certain political classes is dead.

Colin Brazier, a commentator on British culture, is calling for a “strategy of national cohesion” with a ban on foreign flags on taxpayer-funded buildings. He said that Britain should follow America’s model of nation-building as the U.K. wrestles with “imported disintegration” and attempts to return to Britain’s core values.

Honestly, I think it’s to late and I’m not alone in believing this. However, there are those in Britain who have started fighting back.

In August, a group of concerned citizens started ‘Operation Raise the Colours, which called for people to put their flags up where they live and in their everyday lives to rally Britons. The online movement encouraged Britons to continue putting up England’s St. George’s Cross and Union Jack flags.

I mentioned this in a post last August. The problem has been the British left, which considers Stalin to be a right winger. These people are the same ones that started the final collapse of the British Empire after World War II. (And did a lot to try to turn Britain into another Communist hellhole)

Yet, the sudden resurgence of British and English flags has been met with suspicion and criticism from the left, with many angered at the proliferation of the flags, complaining they represent anti-migration and far-right sentiment.

I would say this is partly correct. Britain has been suffering the effects of mass migrations from Muslim countries and refusing to deal with the issues Muslims can bring with them. The grooming gangs were predominantly Muslim and the police not only wouldn’t deal with these rapists, they actually went after the victims and those trying to help them. As for “Far-right” sentiment? Yeah, what the Eurotrash call far right are, by American standards, rather leftist.

The controversy over the flags continued after Prime Minister Keir Starmer recognized a Palestinian state in September. A few days later, Starmer delivered an impassioned speech to the Labour Party’s annual conference as his center-left party pushed back against critics who said it had abandoned patriotism.

Starmer is a communist. There are rumors that he has suppressed any actions regarding the grooming gangs or crimes committed by a certain religious group. He’s also been locking people up for expressing their views if they don’t coincide with the governments. Starmer is also seeing the writing on the wall and knows that he and the Labour party are in trouble.

Speaking to flag-waving supporters, Starmer tried to reprise his party’s patriotic roots, urging a cheering crowd, “Let’s fly all our flags, conference, because they are our flags, they belong to all of us, and we will never surrender them. . . . And with resolve, with respect, with the flag in our hands, we will renew this country.” He also made clear the flag was for all citizens, noting, “Our flags — flying proudly, as we celebrate differences and oppose racism.”

Yet opposition politicians were quick to dismiss Starmer’s flag speech, with one Member of Parliament, Lee Anderson, Reform’s chief whip, saying: “You’re more likely to see a Labour member fly the flag of Palestine than a St. George’s flag. That tells you all you need to know,” the Daily Telegraph reported.

Not long ago, a story came out regarding a comment by a British World War II veteran who was turning 101. He’s recently commented that defeating Hitler and the Nazis has turned out to be a waste of time. He had a lot to say, and none of it complementary to the current political class.

His sharpest criticism, however, was reserved for the nation’s political leaders. He contrasted today’s politicians with figures like Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. ‘They led,’ he asserted. ‘They didn’t just try to keep the job to the next day… They believed what they were trying to put over.’

This is a biting comment to people like Starmer. Here you have someone who literally risked his life to keep Britain free now saying that the whole effort has turned out to be a waste. Sadly, at least with regards to the formally Great Britain, I agree with him. Things were heading downhill late in Queen Elizabeth’s reign and King Chuckles has done nothing to try and reverse things. I’m not to hopeful about Prince William either.

When you have a large segment of a certain ethnic community equating the British flag with racism, you have a complete failure by the government and society in assimilating those migrants into British culture. (Such as it is) The next election isn’t for a few years yet, unless there is a no confidence vote held and Starmer loses it. Currently, the betting is on the Reform Party taking control and Nigel Farage becoming Prime Minister. However, I’m not sure even he can turn things around. Britain and Europe are, in the opinion of many, doomed. I wish them luck though.
