Good day all. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms was originally set up as a tax collecting agency. Eventually, they mutated into an agency notorious for violating the constitution and the rights of American citizens, and shooting puppies.

Without question, the ATF needs to be dissolved, but that will require Congress to acknowledge the 2nd Amendment. (And the rest of the Constitution for that matter) In the meantime, two things are occurring. One are the almost constant lawsuits against the ATF for overstepping their bounds, repeatedley. Now we have something unusual happening. The ATF is now reversing a number of regulations that were designed to infringe in the 2nd Amendment. Here are the details from Newsmax:
The Trump administration is advancing a broad rollback of federal firearms regulations, including proposals that would allow Americans to ship handguns through the mail, rescind Biden-era background check requirements, and make it harder for federal regulators to revoke gun dealers’ licenses.
One of the things that the Biden Maladministration’s ATF did was go to a zero tolerance policy for minor paperwork errors. The errors were things like a typos. Instead of just letting the FFL make a correction with a notation, they pulled the licenses and shut them down permanently. This was all part of the goal of canceling the 2nd Amendment without going through that pesky amending process.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) said the changes are meant to modernize firearms rules and reduce burdens on law-abiding gun owners without undermining law enforcement.
I’ll be honest, almost all of these laws and regulations are unconstitutional. Doing this is a good start, but the only real fix is the repeal of the NFA and the Gun Control Act of 1968.
In late April, the agency announced nearly three dozen final and proposed rules following President Donald Trump’s directive to reexamine federal regulations affecting gun owners and the firearms industry.

One key proposal would repeal a 2024 Biden administration rule that expanded the definition of who qualifies as a gun dealer under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The rule was aimed at closing the so-called “gun show loophole,” but the Trump administration is seeking to scrap it.
I won’t go into the nuances of gun laws, but the so called “Gun Show Loophole” is and always has been a blatant falsehood. If you buy a gun at a gun show, you are going through a background check and you are filling out the Form 4473. Now a private sale, where you are selling a gun to someone else, as I understand it, doesn’t require the background check. I’ll let those who are more knowledgeable on this comment below.
Gun control advocates criticized the White House’s move.
“This is, to us, absolutely the gun industry’s wish list,” Kris Brown, the president of Brady: United Against Gun Violence, told Axios.

Brown noted that industry leaders were present when the proposals were announced.
Why wouldn’t they be? For decades, Leftists, Democrats, elitists and the Deep State have wanted to abolish the right to keep and bear arms. The Gun Ban organizations flat out lie about firearms and people who lawfully use them. They hate it when people use firearms to protect themselves, their families and neighbors and even police officers.
Supporters of the rollback argue Biden-era rules imposed unnecessary restrictions on lawful gun owners and firearms businesses.
Other proposals would ease rules for transporting firearms, remove a requirement that licensed dealers provide youth handgun safety notices, and revise standards governing when dealers can lose their federal licenses.
I haven’t gone through the rule changes since I’m not an FFL. However, as long as the FFL isn’t selling to criminals or prohibited people then they shouldn’t be getting harassed. I recall when Obama and Holder did that gunwalking disaster known as Operation Fast and Furious. When FFL’s saw things that they thought were suspicious, they called the ATF. What were they told? Sell the guns and shut up.

Then, when things went sideways, the ATF and DoJ went after those very same FFL’s. From what I understand, the cases blew up when the FFL’s provided documentation that they were told to go through with the sales even though they didn’t want to. The whole plan was designed to shut down FFL’s and make it impossible for law abiding Americans to exercise their constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.
Separately, the U.S. Postal Service is considering allowing individuals to mail handguns under the same rules that apply to lawful shipments of rifles and shotguns.
As I understand it, almost all of these shipments are gun owners sending their guns to the manufactures for repairs or upgrades.
That proposal follows a Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel opinion concluding the long-standing federal ban on mailing handguns is unconstitutional.

Critics say the change could increase risks involving theft, trafficking, and unlawful firearm transfers.
Any theft would be due to bad postal workers. I know that private shipping companies such as UPS have a secure system in place for handling firearms shipments. I have no doubt that the USPS also has security systems in place for other high value items that can be easily modified for firearms. (I suspect it’s the same for the long guns that can be mailed) This is just another screech by the Left that despises people having a means to keep the left from “Doing good” on people.
In one proposed rule narrowing who is considered mentally unfit to possess firearms, the ATF noted that the “risk may be minimal, or may be considerably greater (up to and including potential mass casualty events).”
I’m not sure, but I think a lot of this revolves around veterans who may have had severe PTSD and received treatment. As to the mass shootings, the last I looked, many of the recent ones have been carried out by “Transgendered” individuals. If there is any group that has mental health issues, it’s them. I don’t see anyone saying that they should be denied the right to keep and bear arms.
Brown told Axios that the agency knows “it raises the risk of mass shootings.”
“They know that violent crime is likely to go up,” she added. “They know it’s going to hinder law enforcement, and they do it anyway.”

Stopping criminals from getting guns has always been the clarion call of the Gun Grabbers of America. When they are confronted with a few annoying facts, such as criminals don’t go to FFL’s to buy guns, they change the subject.
ATF rejected claims that the changes were designed to satisfy the gun lobby.
“The repeal of the regulation has no effect on the scope of the law and signals that ATF will abide by the laws enacted by Congress,” an agency spokesperson told Axios in a statement.
This is another reason that the ATF is reviewing and changing or canceling regulations. For decades, they have gone way beyond their regulatory scope to flat out making laws. There was a case that went to the Supreme Court on the tendency of regulatory agencies entering into the law making realm that belongs to the legislative branch. While the ATF wasn’t a defendant, (I don’t think they were), the ruling blocking regulatory agencies also hit them.
Daniel Webster, a professor at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Gun Violence Solutions, disagreed.
“This is a green light to the segment of the gun industry that profits from crime and gun violence,” he said.
Brown’s prediction was equally grim.
“We think it is going to be the worst delivery of regression in the history of the country in terms of gun violence prevention,” she said.

I love how the gun grabbers love to use the term “Gun Violence.” How about knife violence, or hammer violence or baseball bat violence. The problem isn’t the tool, it’s the criminal using it. Recently there was an arrest of an active duty member of the military. He was in charge of the weapons inventory and was stealing from it and selling it. It was, primarily, rifle ammunition. However, he also walked off with a Javelin antitank guided missile launcher and several missiles. That is not something you’re going to pick up and Bob’s bait and rifle emporium.
This is what the gun grabbers will never, not in a million years, admit to. Criminals will never have a problem getting guns. The goal of the gun grabbers is to strip law abiding Americans of their firearms. For decades, the ATF was in their corner. Now we have a new ATF director, (Who, sadly, isn’t Brandon Herrera), and he appears to be a pro-2A director.
Now we just need to get Congress or SCOTUS to undo a century of unconstitutional laws and we will be back to the way the founders envisioned things. Every man, (And today that would also be every woman), shall be armed and ready to defend the country from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
