Iowa State Lecturer Thomas Walker shows his contempt for US Troops

I was suffering from a bit of insomnia this morning and tuned in to Fox and Friends while I was channel surfing. They had a story about another collage professor making a complete ass of himself by denouncing American troops and telling people not to send gifts to them.

In a Letter to the Editor in the Iowa State Daily, Mr. Walker basically showed his ignorance and contempt for the United States military. Allow me to show you Mr. Walker’s idiocy:

I read in Tuesday’s Iowa State Daily that the College Republicans have begun collecting sundries for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why? Doesn’t the U.S. Army victual its soldiers? Don’t their families send them yuletide goodies? Aren’t GIs paid enough to buy what they need, and even what they want?

Where shall I begin? Mr. Walker, there are a number of men and women in uniform who do NOT have family members who can send them “goodies” as you so stupidly put it. You might also want to look at the actual pay scales of military personal. Considering what they do and the risks they take so you can make a stupid ass of yourself, no, they aren’t paid enough.

There is also this little thing called “Morale.” Have you never been away from home, all alone when a letter or package arrives? UI have and it does make you feel better. It shows that you haven’t been forgotten and that people care about your well being. Hmm, in your case, I doubt anyone really gives a damn about your well being.

Your question regarding the military properly supplying the troops? Why yes they do. They supply them with their basic needs, which are paid for by the taxpayers and supplied by the lowest bidder. Might I suggest you try living on military rations for a while and then eating some fresh chocolate chip cookies some nice person in Flyover Country sent you. It really does perk people up.

To continue…

“As Republicans we believe in charity,” stated Jeremy Freeman, a member of the College Republicans. Donating toiletries, boxed and canned foods, socks and beanies to U.S. soldiers who can already deodorize themselves, who eat better than the poorest Americans and who are gallantly garbed, is an eleemosynary travesty.

Eleemosynary, now there is a $20 word if I ever saw one. I see you are showing your inner snob by using a word most people have never heard, let along actually used. I pride myself on my literacy and I had to look that one up. So for all the people out here in flyover country, I’ll post the definition of it.

el·ee·mos·y·nar·y

eleemosynary pronunciation [el-uh-mos-uh-ner-ee, -moz-, el-ee-uh-]

adjective

  1. of or pertaining to alms, charity, or charitable donations; charitable.
  2. derived from or provided by charity.
  3. dependent on or supported by charity: an eleemosynary educational institution.

Origin:

1610–20; < Medieval Latin eleemosynarius, equivalent to Late Latin eleemosyn(a) (see alms) + Latin -arius -ary

Related forms

non·el·ee·mos·y·nar·y, adjective

un·el·ee·mos·y·nar·y, adjective

Now on to the rest of your statement. The “poorest Americans” not eating as well as soldiers is patently false. You might try reading about food stamp recipients buying lobsters, crab, and other high end culinary items on the taxpayer’s dime. Then I would suggest you try a military mess hall or better yet, a case of MRE’s. ((Meals Ready to Eat)) What the troops get is designed to provide a high energy diet with the proper amount of vitamins and minerals for good health. Nothing more. Actual flavor is optional, or so I’m told.

Shall we continue? I think we shall:

Necessities should be doled out to people who really need them and who might get them if not for the hundreds of billions of dollars being funneled to the Pentagon in the greatest squandering of money on the planet. If anything, Republicans should sympathize with veterans struggling to find employment, a challenge that may daunt the discharged soldier, who might wish he had reenlisted. Soldiers are to Republicans as fetuses are to them: prized. But once out of the womb-like army, Republican solicitude for hapless veterans goes where extracted zygotes go.

And here we see the typical over-educated moonbat showing his complete misunderstanding of the military. It isn’t a jobs program, it’s meant to prevent people and nations that want to take your leftist ass out, line you up with others of your ilk and kill you. I like how you try to bring the Abortion debate in and comparing discharged military personal with aborted babies. This just shows the world how little you actually know about the military and how the Republicans think of them. Just for your edification, the people who demonstrate their contempt of active duty and discharged military personnel tend to vote Democrat rather than Republican.

So what other pearls of wisdom does Mr. Walker care to share with “The Great Unwashed?”

“We get to show the troops we still appreciate what they’re doing for us,” said another College Republican. What are they doing for us? Nothing. But against us they’re doing a lot: creating anti-American terrorists in the countries they occupy. Said the same College Republican, “It can’t be fun to be away from your family for the holidays. As if American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan had been conscripted? They chose to leave home.

And now we have the typical Moonbat’s answer to everything. It’s all America’s fault. If we didn’t exist, the world would be a better place. We should just disband the United States and let our betters in the United Nations rule us. After all, they have many years of education at the finest universities in the world.

Mr. Walker, if it wasn’t for the existence of the United States the world would be a far worse mess than it is now. Think about it for just a moment. ((Oh who am I kidding? He’s a moonbat and they aren’t capable of thought)) Who was it that crushed the Nazi’s? It wasn’t the British. They were almost at the end of their rope when Adolph stupidly declared war on us after Pearl Harbor. The Soviets? If it hadn’t been for a few major blunders by Hitler, there was a better than even chance they would have lost.

And what about your pals, the Communists? How do you think they would react to your diatribe? I can give you a very easy answer. At best, you would be worked to death in a gulag. More than likely, you would have been summarily shot. Trial? If you got one it would be a travesty of justice.

And how about our current enemies, Radical Islamic Fundamentalists? Obviously, you have no idea just how Islam works. Allow me to explain it to you. If you aren’t a Muslim, you are an Infidel. If you are an Infidel and won’t become a Muslim, then all Muslims are required to kill you. You have no rights. Islam, unlike all the western religions, has never gone through any sort of reformation. A Muslim from the 10th century would feel right at home in a mosque today. They are required by the Koran to spread Islam by any means possible including by war. This is why we are fighting them now.

Of course, in your world view, it’s our support of Israel that is the reasons Muslims and Arabs hate us. I’m sure you would be quite happy to start up the Final Solution ((Hitler’s “Final Solution”)) again and end the “Jewish” problem once and for all.

So what else do you have to spew upon the world?

Why do Republicans care so much about the military? Because the military-industrial complex is dear to their simplistic laissez-faire fantasies: a bottom-line patriotism that excludes the people at the bottom.

Oh yes, the leftists favorite boogeyman, the “Military-Industrial complex.” Pity that such a thing never really existed. In case you hadn’t noticed you putz, our military manufacturing ability is a shadow of what it was in World War 2. Even at the height of the Cold War it wasn’t all that much. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, (Which must have been a sad day for you), many military contractors have either gone out of business, merged with other companies, or converted to civilian endeavors. If a global conflict were to begin similar to World War 2, we would be hard pressed to develop and manufacture the arms and equipment we would need to win. But then, the United States winning anything is an obvious anathema to you.

Now, many other blogs have ripped you a literary new one. Most are probably demanding your termination from Iowa State University. Some may have said you should be strung up as a traitor or beaten with a large blunt instrument. I won’t do any of that. I believe in the right of free speech. You have the right to make a complete ass of yourself and to demonstrate your utter and complete contempt for both the military, the United States and the taxpayers who fund your class and pay your salary. I don’t know, but would suspect that you have tenure so getting rid of your worthless ass would be next to impossible.

No, I would much rather you stay right where you are, as an example of all that is wrong with the education system of this nation. When parents are going over choices for a collage education, they can look at you and the words you have spoken and choose to send their children, and their tuition money to a school that respects our troops, our Constitution and our nation.

I sent this over to Good Emperor Misha I of the empire of the Anti-idiotarian Rottweiler for his review. He wasn’t thrilled with his blood pressure spike but he has also decided to make his disapproval of Thomas Walker known to all.

The Iowa Federation of College Republicans has made donating to Iowa’s troops a holiday tradition for the last five years with the firm belief that these annual acts of appreciation should always be ones of duty, and never self-aggrandizing. Yet, an ISU English Lecturer [Thomas Walker] found the CR’s acts callous enough to insult and demean the efforts of Jeremy and Iowa’s CRs publicly in the Iowa State Daily on Monday. Through his blatant disregard for our nation’s heroes overseas …
