UN Election monitors in the United States

Good day all. Will all the other news floating around, I never got to this story. The United Nations is sending people to monitor the elections on November 6th at various locations around the United States.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) met with several left wing groups a while back and agreed to monitor the polls for any signs of voter suppression. Here is some background from The Hill:

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a United Nations partner on democratization and human rights projects, will deploy 44 observers from its human rights office around the country on Election Day to monitor an array of activities, including potential disputes at polling places. It’s part of a broader observation mission that will send out an additional 80 to 90 members of parliament from nearly 30 countries.

Now why are these useless drones coming to the United States?

Liberal-leaning civil rights groups met with representatives from the OSCE this week to raise their fears about what they say are systematic efforts to suppress minority voters likely to vote for President Obama.

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the NAACP and the ACLU, among other groups, warned this month in a letter to Daan Everts, a senior official with OSCE, of “a coordinated political effort to disenfranchise millions of Americans — particularly traditionally disenfranchised groups like minorities.”

In other words, since the states have begun cracking down on voter fraud the last two years, primarily by asking voter to produce a photo ID, these left wing groups are screaming “VOTER SUPPRESSION!” Of course when there was a real case of voter suppression by the Black Panthers, Eric Holder killed the case against them ((New Black Panther case)). No, what these groups object to is anything that prevents them from committing voter and election fraud, which voter ID laws will help put a stop to.

Needless to say, the actions if these groups did not sit well with a number of people.

The request for foreign monitoring of election sites drew a strong rebuke from Catherine Engelbrecht, founder and president of True the Vote, a conservative-leaning group seeking to crack down on election fraud.

“These activist groups sought assistance not from American sources, but from the United Nations,” she said in a statement to The Hill. “The United Nations has no jurisdiction over American elections.”

Since then, a number of states have said that these UN blue hats aren’t welcome. In the case of Texas, they have been threatened with arrest. Of course, Der Fubar’s maladministration promptly jumped into the fray and said that the states couldn’t arrest these “Impartial Poll Monitors.” From the Washington Examiner:

International election observers planning to visit Texas polling places have “full immunity” from being arrested in the United States, the State Department said when discussing a letter from the Texas Attorney General.

“I’m not going to get into any kind of hypothetical situations or predict where this is going to go other than to say we have every expectation that this will be worked out and to state the fact, which is that under U.S. law they are eligible for immunities,” said State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. Reporters tried to get her to state explicitly that Texas could not arrest election observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), but Nuland would only reiterate that OSCE observers have full immunity.

In the immortal words of Al Borland ((Al Borland)), “I don’t think so Tim.” The Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott basically told the UN to go pound sand. From The Blaze:

Don’t mess with Texas elections.

That’s the double-down message Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott delivered Thursday to poll watchers affiliated with United Nations who want to come and observe voting on Election Day.

The squabble started after Abbott wrote to the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe, threatening to prosecute any of its members who come near a polling location.

“The OSCE may be entitled to its opinions about Voter ID laws, but your opinion is legally irrelevant in the United States, where the Supreme Court has already determined that Voter ID laws are constitutional,” Abbott wrote.

Abbott concluded his letter by adding that the Texas Election Code governs all election participants and that OSCE officials are not authorized to enter a polling place. He said it “may be a criminal offense for OSCE’s representatives to maintain a presence within 100 feet of a polling place’s entrance.”

“Failure to comply with these requirements could subject the OSCE’s representatives to criminal prosecution for violating state law,” Abbott wrote.

Lest we forget, this isn’t the first time the Great State of Texas has told the UN to butt out. The last time was when the state executed a Mexican national for the murder of a 16 year old girl ((Texas executes Mexican citizen despite pleas from Obama, UN)). As I recall, Texas said they would discuss this after they turned the convicted murder, who had many years of appeals, into worm food.

Now, another state has joined with Texas in threatening the UN blue hats with arrest if they try to bulldoze their way into the polling stations without permission. This time it’s the state Attorney General of Iowa who is making the threat. From the Globe Gazette:

Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz warned a group of international voting monitors that they face arrest if they monitor polling locations in Iowa next week.

“My office met with two delegation representatives last week to discuss Iowa’s election process, and it was explained to them that they are not permitted at the polls,” Schultz said in a statement released Tuesday. “Iowa law is very specific about who is permitted at polling places, and there is no exception for members of this group.”

As you might have guessed, like the Texas AG’s statement, the one from Iowa will not go down well in the halls of the elitist twits in Washington or New York. (Or any of the other liberal moonbat organizations) On the other hand, I suspect that a large majority of people agree with both Texas and Iowa in telling the UN to drop dead. In fact, most people say it is long since time for the United States to pull out of the United Nations and to kick the UN out of the United States. That collection of third world dictators and corruptocrats have long since outlived their usefulness. It would be nice if the Romney Administration would say “Get out and Good riddance and don’t let the doorknob hit you on the ass as you leave!” We don’t expect that to happen with Governor Mittens though. Well at least he won’t be trying to sell out American sovereignty to these thugs.

Lets give a big hand to Texas and Iowa and hopefully the UN thugs will try and call their bluff. I’m sure they will be quite happy to spend a few quality months with some of those downtrodden people in the Texas prison system. Heheheheh
