If you like your insurance, to bad

Well it looks like the Obama Steno Pool and propaganda machine have started to turn on the liar in chief. They are starting to notice that Obama 404Care is an outright disaster and is hurting millions of people.

What is surprising is that one of Obama’s biggest media cheerleaders, Lisa Myers, is the one to begin the tear down process. In a story on NBC News:

President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.

Trust in Obama

This means that King Putt knew as well. Of course, the SCoaMF is denying it six ways from Sunday, but that’s just his standard response to anything that blows up in his communist face.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

I’m one of those who buys his own insurance. What I have is perfectly adequate for my and Mrs. Webmaster’s needs. I was recently informed that my plan was grandfathered in and my rates wouldn’t change this year. Even so, I decided to see what I would get under Obama 404Care. I was shocked to say the least. My rates would triple and my deductible would explode. It would have come down to getting insurance or keeping a roof over our heads. As for the actual insurance? It was crap compared to what I have now. Oh and those phony baloney subsidies? I don’t qualify. (Well I do have a job that pays rather well)

None of this should come as a shock to the Obama administration. The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date — the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example — the policy would not be grandfathered.

And that would be Kathleen Sebelius. Because of the incompetent way Pelosi and Reid wrote this drek, the department of Health and Human Services was basically given cart blanche to whatever they wanted. Considering that Sebelius is an outright totalitarian, it should come as no surprise that enslaving millions of people is just what she wanted to do.

Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, “40 to 67 percent” of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, “the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range.”

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

Yet President Obama, who had promised in 2009, “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan,” was still saying in 2012, “If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”

Der Fubar

And Der Fubar was saying that up until a few weeks ago when this debacle started. Now the Obama Steno Pool generally ignored the complete failure of the Obama 404Care web site. They were having to much fun blaming the Obama/Reid government shutdown on the Republicans. Now, it’s beginning to sink into their Progressive, Leftist minds that 10’s of millions of people are losing their insurance and are going to see their rates skyrocket. Many people will not buy it and frankly, if the IRS tries to impose penalties, well, lets just say that people are beginning to remember that the American Revolution was a tax revolt that got a little out of hand.

“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,” said Robert Laszewski, of Health Policy and Strategy Associates, a consultant who works for health industry firms. Laszewski estimates that 80 percent of those in the individual market will not be able to keep their current policies and will have to buy insurance that meets requirements of the new law, which generally requires a richer package of benefits than most policies today.

And as I mentioned, astronomically high deductibles as well. Some people may end up paying 25% or more of their income into Obama 404Care and probably more. For instance, if you have a catastrophic care plane, the kind that takes care of you if you get hit by a bus or suffer a major illness, you usually pay something like the first $2500 to $5000 dollars. This is what I have. My wife and I don’t need maternity coverage, and neither one of us plans on using heroin and therefore need coverage for detoxing. This sort of coverage is mandatory under Obama 404Care.

The White House does not dispute that many in the individual market will lose their current coverage, but argues they will be offered better coverage in its place, and that many will get tax subsidies that would offset any increased costs.

Bovine Droppings! If they had said from the beginning that people would lose their insurance, plans they were quite happy with, Pelosi and Reid would have had an even harder time ignoring the angry calls from the voters, not to mention all the house and senate members that had to be bribed in order to get this P.O.S. passed in the first place. In all probability, Obama might have actually lost the election even with the voter suppression on the Tea Party groups by the IRS.

“One of the main goals of the law is to ensure that people have insurance they can rely on – that doesn’t discriminate or charge more based on pre-existing conditions. The consumers who are getting notices are in plans that do not provide all these protections – but in the vast majority of cases, those same insurers will automatically shift their enrollees to a plan that provides new consumer protections and, for nearly half of individual market enrollees, discounts through premium tax credits,” said White House spokesperson Jessica Santillo.

“Nothing in the Affordable Care Act forces people out of their health plans: The law allows plans that covered people at the time the law was enacted to continue to offer that same coverage to the same enrollees – nothing has changed and that coverage can continue into 2014,” she said.

And that us utter hogwash. In fact it is an outright lie. I would dare her to say this under oath. Some 2 million people have already lost their plans, and those few that have been able to find out the costs of the Obama 404Care plans are in shock at what they will have to pay. Most simply can’t afford it.

Individual insurance plans with low premiums often lack basic benefits, such as prescription drug coverage, or carry high deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. The Affordable Care Act requires all companies to offer more benefits, such as mental health care, and also bars companies from denying coverage for preexisting conditions.

And that’s why people bought them in the first place you morons. And speaking of liars, The Official White House Spokesman Liar Jay Carney is now denying that Obama ever said you could keep your insurance or that people had any right to expect they could keep their current plans.

“What the president said and what everybody said all along is that there are going to be changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act to create minimum standards of coverage, minimum services that every insurance plan has to provide,” Carney said. “So it’s true that there are existing healthcare plans on the individual market that don’t meet those minimum standards and therefore do not qualify for the Affordable Care Act.

They don’t care. Progressive Collectivists never care about the people they hurt…or kill as long as they feel good about what they are doing. I will say a lot of people are going to need the mental health care that’s now mandated.

Those getting the cancellation letters are often shocked and unhappy.

George Schwab, 62, of North Carolina, said he was “perfectly happy” with his plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield, which also insured his wife for a $228 monthly premium. But this past September, he was surprised to receive a letter saying his policy was no longer available. The “comparable” plan the insurance company offered him carried a $1,208 monthly premium and a $5,500 deductible.

And the best option he’s found on the exchange so far offered a 415 percent jump in premium, to $948 a month.

“The deductible is less,” he said, “But the plan doesn’t meet my needs. Its unaffordable.”

“I’m sitting here looking at this, thinking we ought to just pay the fine and just get insurance when we’re sick,” Schwab added. “Everybody’s worried about whether the website works or not, but that’s fixable. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. This stuff isn’t fixable.”

This is going to be what kills Obama 404Care in the end. It will collapse when people, especially the young and healthy people basically tell the government to go shove it and refuse to buy these overpriced and worthless plans. The list of people with horror stories is growing by the day. Obama and the Progressive Liberal Democrats in Congress flat out don’t care. Take Jon Tester, Democrat Senator from Montana. According to the Weekly Standard:

One senator was not willing to cede the point that many Americans would be losing their current health insurance plans. When asked if those folks who like their plans should be able to keep it, Jon Tester, Democrat from Montana, responded, “I think your premise is wrong.”

Of course, this idiot was reelected in 2012 so as far as he’s concerned, who cares what his constituents want? Then there is Senator Ben Cardin of the People’s Collective of Maryland.

“I don’t think there’s any surprises yet,” said Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland of reports of insurance cancellations.

“The free market did not change,” Cardin added. “The ability of an insurance carrier or employer to maintain their plans was there, and some are taking other actions.”

Cardin was the only senator asked by TWS to flatly reject the measure to let people keep the plans they had in 2013. “I think it’s just too early to look at changes for 2014,” he said.

This walking diaper stain is from a state that has drunk deeply from the Progressive Kool-Aid vat. They are bankrupt and in the process of taxing everything that moves, doesn’t move or gets wet ((Maryland decides to tax residents when it rains)). They are Progressive Totalitarians who think people should just shut up and do what they are told from the Progressive Liberal Elite.

Obamacare was set up to fail. The whole idea was to collapse the insurance industry and force Americans into a government run, single payer medical system. They refuse to accept that those systems have always failed and result in many people who would have lived, dying. The British system is notorious for killing its patients.

Obamacare, Shovel Ready

Then there is the other issue of doctors. In New York, almost all the doctors polled are outright refusing to have anything to do with Obamacare. The few who are working in it are doing so only because of previous contractual obligations. I suspect they will end this as soon as the contracts are completed. Others are retiring early rather then deal with Obamacare. If you think waiting times in Emergency rooms tend to be a bit long, wait a few years when most doctors quit. I suspect the next “Great Progressive Idea” will be to conscript doctors who refuse to be a part of this mess and order them to work for the salary of a U.S. Army private.

Think that won’t be considered? Think again. The last time it was considered, was the run up to the Y2K problem. Since getting a programmer to fix all the broken code cost a lot of money, (Some of these people were making mid 6 figures), companies were complaining a bit. Well some idiot member of congress came up with the bright idea to conscript all the IT people in the states and force them to fix the problems with the same pay as an Army private. Fortunately, someone pointedly asked the moron if he thought it was a good idea to give full access to people who a few weeks before, had been making hundreds of dollars an hour and were now being paid pretty much nothing, to the systems that needed to be fixed. The moron suddenly understood that these people he wanted to draft would be angry and would probably trash the systems and say “Oops!”

Back then we had people who understood that using force on skilled people would backfire. Today? They’re all gone and we have doctrinaire idiots who think they should rule America. Obama 404Care may finally be the straw that breaks the Statists back. The only question will be what happens next. Repeal or Rebellion.
