Good day all. Last night, Rand Paul, along with others in the senate stopped the re-authorization of the Patriot act. As of midnight, the National Security Agency can no longer slurp up all the electronic data of American Citizens, or anyone else inside the borders of the United States.
The supporters of the Surveillance State are furious with Senator Paul for stopping their beloved domestic citizen control project. Senator John McCain, (R-Senility), has been one of the biggest boosters for turning the United States into a new East Germany when it comes to spying on Americans. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, wanted to push through the Patriot Act unmodified and decided to play political games.
These people who support the patriot Act have utterly missed how angry people are over the violations of their constitutional rights. As more and more information came out, thanks to Edward Snowden, people learned that not one single terrorist act had been stopped. In fact, since the Patriot Act was first authorized in 2011, we have had a number of Islamic terrorist attacks in the United States, the latest attempt in Texas a month ago.
Now the NSA won’t be stopped from snarfing up signals intelligence from sources outside the United States. In fact, no one really minds them doing that, especially since that’s where the terrorists do all their planning, not in a coffee shop in Barstow, CA.
There are some things in the Patriot Act that do make sense and don’t violate the Constitution. Rand Paul and the others should split those parts out and put them forward as independent bills. Lets see how the Senators of Surveillance respond then.

And if you actually believe that No Such Agency will stop because they no longer have “controlling legal authority”, I have this great deal on a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to talk to you about.
Worst comes to worst, they shuffle managers and change the name of the program and some utterly trivial detail, and claim to be compliant. . .
I’m thinking about just how vulnerable those data centers are. All those cooling systems outside, just waiting for multitudes of kamikaze squirrels and jihadi chipmonks… 😉
The ones we know about. Do you REALLY think they put everything out in public at well-known sites ??? Contrary to public opinion, there ARE some smart, motivated people in the IC. .
I suspect that someone knows where they all are. They really aren’t that easy to hide after all. And if you take down a Google DC by mistake?
Oops! Sorry. 😀
Didn’t Rand et al try to split the “good parts” off and the RINOS bang their sippy cups and insist “all or nothing!” already?
As I understand it, yep.
