Good day all. Last week I wrote a post on George Will telling Republicans to vote for the CommuNazis in November. In the post I remarked how Will was part of a dying breed of Republican. One who only cared for himself and couldn’t be bothered with the average person.
Will was best known as a founding member of the “NeverTrumpers.” These were people who were aghast that Donald Trump was the nominee. When it became clear that Trump was going to be the nominee, they did everything they could to first, take the nomination away from him at the convention, and then try and make him lose the general election. They literally would have preferred the utterly corrupt, possibly murderous Felonia von Pantsuit in the White House, doing everything she could to destroy the Republic then let Donald Trump win.
This group of sanctimonious morons became known as the “NeverTrumpers.” They were a Who’s Who of the so called “Conservative Elite” of the Republican party. They ended up completely discrediting themselves. Emerald Robinson writing in the American Spectator wrote a column in this vein:
With the installation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and a yet-to-be-named reliable replacement for the unreliable Anthony Kennedy, Donald Trump will have confirmed himself as the most consequential conservative president of the modern era (or a close second to Reagan if you’re nostalgic).
This will be complete vindication for Trump supporters, which means it’s really the end for the so-called Never Trump conservatives.
The above link goes to a Wikipedia page listing all the RINO’s, Establishment and Uniparty members of the GOP who refused to accept President Trump. I didn’t know it existed. How convenient. We have a list of morons we can ignore.
Of course, there have been so many humiliating defeats for that crowd that we are spoiled for choice. What was your favorite blunder, or blown prediction, which marked their ignominious end?
We can start with the election of President Donald J. Trump.
For some, it must have been in March when Bill Kristol, longtime editor of the conservative magazine theWeekly Standard, showed up in New Hampshire telling people he would run against President Trump in 2020. Or in April when the conservative website RedState was taken over and purged of writers who were “insufficiently supportive” of the president.
I like that term, “Insufficiently supportive.” How does “So hostile, they would rather the Democrats gain the permanent majority they’ve been working towards for a century?”
One thing’s for sure: it wasn’t really a war so much as a rout. The Never Trump intellectual crowd has no momentum and no popular following these days.
They have pretty much no following at all. For instance, the Weak-kneed Standard was a web site I used to go to daily. I haven’t been there in over 18 months, and honestly, I’ve removed it from my bookmarks. When they were actively pushing Felonia von Pantsuit’s candidacy over Donald Trump’s, because Trump wasn’t “One of them” that was it for me. I understand their readership has plummeted.
Another website that has seen a significant drop in Traffic is Hot Air. This was a news and commentary site founded by Michelle Malkin. She sold it a few years back, and it looks like not a moment to soon. (Ms. Malkin is definitely NOT a NeverTrumper) I still follow their RSS feed, but one of the writers, Allahpundit, has not only drunk the Kool-Ade, he’s taking it intravenously as well. I’ve heard their page views dropped significantly in the last year.
Consider the trajectory of their would-be leader Kristol, who appears to be indulging in a personal fantasy by putting himself forward as a candidate, as his rapport with GOP voters includes trying to run Evan McMullin in Utah to throw the 2016 election to Hillary Clinton.
The utter stupidity and arrogance of Krystal was beyond belief. People started seeing him for what he truly is. A Uniparty elitist totally out of touch with pretty much everyone.
Then Kristol’s commentator gig with Fox was not renewed, and he was soon accusing Tucker Carlson of “ethno-nationalism” and “racism.”
Of course, Kristol was not alone in his contempt for Trump — he was only the most vocal and unhinged.
That’s a polite way of saying that Krystal went stark raving bonkers.
Alongside him were other conservatives like Jennifer Rubin and George Will and Michael Gerson at the Washington Post; Bret Stephens at the Wall Street Journal; David Brooks and Ross Douthat at the New York Times; Jonah Goldberg and David French at National Review; Ramesh Ponnuru at Bloomberg; and Erick Erickson at RedState.
Most if not all of these “conservatives” were about as conservative as Karl Marx. They were the same statists as the CommuNazis. They just wanted to be the ones in control. They cared about the Constitution about as much as the Great Mistake, Barack Obama did. In other words, not at all.
A number of others, people like David Frum and Ana Navarro, committed political seppuku early and endorsed Hillary Clinton.
A lot of these same idiots also backed Obama when McStain was running and selected Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. They hated her because she was real, and was the only reason that scumbag didn’t lose by 30 points. They perceived Palin as a threat to their “Way of life.” She was real and they were frauds.
The sad truth was that the Never Trumpers were not safeguarding the ideas of conservatism so much as themselves. Carlson nailed the heart of the matter: “If Trump is leading a populist movement, many of his Republican critics have joined an elitist one. Deriding Trump is an act of class solidarity, visible evidence of refinement and proof that you live nowhere near a Wal-Mart.”
The NeverTrumpers have only themselves to blame for their fall. They lived in a bubble almost as bad as the one the Progressive Liberal Democrat CommuNazis live in. These are the same stupid idiots who have been pushing President Trump to invade any number of Turd World countries that we have no beef with, and yet refusing to deal with nations that are an actual threat to us, such as North Korea.
They see European leadership as not that different from themselves and are horrified that President Trump is actually putting American interests ahead of those of their friends in the European Ruling elite. They have been literally filling their collective pants over President Trump’s demands that the NATO members actually pay for their own defense, and essentially falling over in a dead faint when President Trump suggests it’s time to start pulling our troops out of Western Europe.
This is why so many of them were willing to see the utterly corrupt Felonia von Pantsuit in office instead of Donald Trump. She lies like a cheap rug and cares only about her own personal power and wealth. Donald Trump actually cares about the United States of America, the Constitution and the Rule of law. Now the party is over and they are out in the cold. It couldn’t happen to a better bunch of twerps.
