Good day all. I saw this story a couple of weeks ago and haven’t had time to get to it, until now. It seems that the University of Montana Western is looking at expelling students who use “Mean words or faces.”

Colleges and Universities stopped being places of higher learning, with the exception of technical and engineering schools, some time ago. Now they are nothing more than political reeducation centers run By Communists. They have been banning free speech for years now, and banning someone sticking out a tongue at someone is just the next step. Here are the details from the National Review:
The University of Montana Western has a policy that allows for punishing students for “mean” words or “facial expressions” — and that punishment could technically be as severe as expulsion.
“While discussions may become heated and passionate, they should never become mean, nasty or vindictive in spoken or printed or emailed words, facial expressions, or gestures,” states the Student Code of Conduct.
Another area of the code states that “committing any act prohibited by this Code of Conduct may result in expulsion or suspension from the University unless specific and mitigating factors are present.”
“Factors to be considered in mitigation may include the present attitude and past disciplinary record of the offender, as well as the nature of the offense and the severity of any damage, injury, or harm resulting from it,” the code continues.
Would you care to guess just how many amendments to the Constitution of the United States this violates? Right off the bat, it violates the 1st Amendment. Now may people might say that the university is a private entity, however, if they take one penny of taxpayer money, they become subject to the Constitution. There are a few colleges and universities that eschew any government funding and they do put rules in place that most people find offensive. I doubt that the University of Montana, Western is one of them.
I do like the caveat they put in regarding previous incidents. However, if all those previous incidents were more of the same, then expelling someone for having a “Mean face” is not going to cut it. Frankly, bringing someone up with an eye to kicking them out for having a mean face or saying something not politically correct really is going to bite the University in the posterior.
Unsurprisingly, the pro-free-speech group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has expressed some concerns over this policy — especially considering the fact that the University of Montana Western is a public (read: taxpayer-funded) university.
“A great deal of constitutionally protected expression could be punished under this policy, like a tweet that criticizes the university administration, or the expression of those who take up the ‘nasty woman’ moniker, a rally cry made popular after then-candidate Donald Trump used the term to describe Hillary Clinton,” a post on FIRE’s website states.
As a taxpayer funded school, the State legislature can get involved. Considering the lawsuits just waiting to happen, I don’t see these polices staying in place for very long if implemented, or being implemented in the first place. However, one must never underestimate the blind stupidity of a Progressive institute of Higher Political Reeducation.
Nobody likes a mean person, and it certainly is better to be nice. The truth is, however, there is nothing nice about restricting students’ speech — and, as FIRE points out, the very existence of this policy in itself might be enough to do just that.
“Even if these civility policies aren’t applied to punish protected speech in practice, they’re still likely to have a chilling effect on speech, as students reading the policy will self-censor and avoid controversial expression rather than taking that risk,” the website’s post states.
Colleges and universities are believers in freedom of speech, provided it’s speech that they approve of. There have been a number of legal challenges to policies such as this one, along with challenges to the kangaroo courts held by college administrations against male students accused of looking at the female ones.
They’ve been losing these cases for some time, and the Trump Administration has been working to remove the Title IX regulations put out by the Obama Regime that made it impossible for some students to even get a fair hearing. Honestly, the Montana state government needs to look into this and find out which blithering idiot came up with this policy, and get rid of them. We need students that are being educated, not “Woke.”
