Good day all. In 1981 a movie came out titled Escape from New York. It was a harmless bit of fun about the Island of Manhattan having been turned into a maximum security prison and Kurt Russell having to escape from it. Now it looks like people are escaping from New York for real.
New York City has many problems. The primary one is it’s run by CommuNazi elitists with more money then brains. These moonbats have taxed and regulated the regular people into oblivion, and now these very same people are fleeing the city. Here are the details from The New York Post:
New York City’s shrinking middle class is now in full retreat, as masses of our most endangered population depart the city in numbers not seen since the Depression, according to analysts. After decades of sharp income erosion in the face of relentless taxes, escalating living costs and wage reductions through technological changes, the full extent of this shocking exodus is laid bare in the latest US Census data. That shows the city is losing 100 residents each day — with departures exceeding new arrivals.
“The rich in New York City are getting richer; the poor are actually getting richer, but not rich enough to be middle class,” said Peter C. Earle, an economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, who has studied other data, noting the expansion in welfare and entitlement programs.
I don’t know why anyone would be surprised about this. The very same thing is happening in both cities and states controlled by the CommuNazis, starting with the State, (In decay), of Kalifornistan. The ruling elites, living in their high end, and usually rent controlled, ivory towers have no clue what hardships they’re causing for the “Working class.” They also don’t care.
The persistent shrinking of the middle class nationwide — and especially in cities like New York — is evident in boarded-up retail stores, reflecting rising rents and slackening consumer demand.
National chain-store locations have plunged in the city by 0.3 percent, to 7,849, this year, according to the Center for an Urban Future. And a record 18 chains, including Aerosoles and Nine West, vacated all their city sites in 2018.
The “Shrinking middle class” isn’t really nationwide. There are many areas where the middle class is growing. Interestingly, these are cities, (Few in number), and states that are administered by the Republican party. However, even they’re having problems and like all big government types of whatever party, can’t grasp the idea of having the absolute minimum size government needed to basic needs, such as safety, (Fire and Rescue, law enforcement, roads and bridges), as well as controlling some of the out of control employee expenditures.
The biggest mistake ever was allowing government employees to unionize. The most extreme example of what happens is in Kalifornistan. The state’s pension plan is not going to be able to cover all the promises made by the politicians. Illinois system is in even worse shape. We’ve seen local governments go bankrupt trying to fund these solid gold pension plans.
The states, can’t go bankrupt and will look to the Federal Government to bail them out. You can guess what that means. The Progressive locusts are going to strip the taxpayers in states that are in reasonably good shape. With the current “administrations” in New York City and other areas refusing to deal with the problems they’ve created, look at New York to continue to see “Mass escapes” as people decide it’s more important to have a roof over their heads and be able to eat then pay for yet another Progressive boondoggle by the ruling CommuNazi Elites.
