Good day all. As you should know, provided you aren’t living in a cave somewhere, in which case you won’t see this anyway, the Mostly Stupid Media has been panicking the world with regards to the COVID-19, aka Coronavirus, aka The Beer virus, for the last few weeks.

While this can be a serious illness, for the overwhelming majority of people, all they will need of the catch this is some bed rest, drinking lots of fluids, and taking some aspirin. For others, it may require certain antiviral medications. This is where a problem arises. Most of the medicines are either made in China, or their ingredients come from China.
Since the COVID-19 virus, also known as the Wuhan Flu, started in China, and the Chinese government really screwed up the initial response to it, people have been blaming them. In response, China has begun trying to deflect the blame, even pointing to the Untied States as being responsible. Only the truly stupid believe this, (Which means most Berniebots and other Progressive morons), and the United States has told China to knock it off. Now China is saying that they might just stop shipping medications to the United States. Here are the details from Fox News:
Now that the number of new people infected with the coronavirus in China is slowing down, the country’s Communist Party is ratcheting up threats against the West, with a particularly nasty warning about access to life-saving drugs aimed at the United States.
In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that’s largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in the city of Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more. The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into “the mighty sea of coronavirus.”
The current Chinese government has been getting hammered by the Trump Administration since day one, and still haven’t figured out why they aren’t getting their way any longer. All of their paid for drones in the Congress are either not returning their calls, or have left office. The globalist Never Trumpers have been sidelined and no one is listening to them any longer.
In addition, thanks to this virus, along with other things, American companies have started pulling their manufacturing plants back into the United States. This has started to hit the Chinese right in their wallets. Rather then make adjustments to their behavior, President Xi and the others running China have doubled down. If they actually did this, China would find themselves ostracized and their economy reduced to a shambles.
The disturbing threats made during a global pandemic as well as the scary consequences if that threat becomes real highlight just how tight China’s grip is on the global supply chain. Already, the Food and Drug Administration has announced the first drug shortage related to the coronavirus. Though it did not disclose which drug was in short supply, the FDA did say it could not access enough raw components needed because they are made in China.
And this is another reason that the pharmaceutical companies are beginning to pull their manufacturing back from China. If the Chinese government wanted to be a true member of the world, and make tons of money, they would do everything they could to insure that all the medications needed were available. Instead, all that Xi is interested in is power and ruling the world.
That doesn’t come as a surprise to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, who told Fox News on Thursday that America is “dangerously reliant” on China for the production of critical goods, including parts for technologies needed to fight COVID-19.
And who’s fault is that Globalist boy? This goes back to at least George H.W. Bush, and ramped up big time under Bubbah Horndog Clinton and George W. Bush.
Though the United States is a global leader in research, much of the manufacturing of life-saving drugs has moved overseas. The last American manufacturing plant to make a key component in penicillin shuttered in 2004. Since then, Chinese pharmaceuticals companies have moved in and taken over, supplying between 80 percent and 90 percent of U.S. antibiotics, 70 percent of acetaminophen and about 40 percent of heparin, according to Yanzhong Huang, a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations.

If China makes good on its threat to cut off the United States, Rubio believes the results could be crippling.
In more way then one. To begin with, China does not hold the patents on these medicines and components. (Not that they care. One of the problems companies have is China stealing their intellectual property) The pharmacological companies can reopen the plants inside the United States, with more modern equipment. The same goes for Europe, and I can see Central and South America ramping up as well. China will lose badly if/when this happens.
As the rest of the world scrambles to contain the virus and protect its citizens, China has been busy casting itself in the role of global hero going so far as to demand a thank you for containing the virus as long as it did.
“We should say righteously that the U.S. owes China an apology, the world owes China a thank you,” an editorial in Xinhua read.

I don’t know what is going on with the current Chinese leadership. They are totally missing the mark on what’s happening in the world. If they think this is a winning strategy, then they are sorely mistaken. They might think that they can force President Trump out in 2020, (Highly unlikely), or even hold on until 2024 and then buy a more compliant president, but they would be sadly mistaken.
It isn’t just the United States they’ve been screwing over, it’s the entire world, and this action, if taken, will backfire. I can’t say how long it would take to ramp up production of these medicines in the United States, but we have a nasty habit of getting things like this operational a lot faster then anyone thinks possible, once we put our minds to it. I suspect that this is now going to happen.
