Good day all. Friday, (July 10th), President Trump commuted the sentence of Roger Stone. Within seconds, the Democrats and their RINO Never Trump Fellow Travelers started screaming “Investigation!!”
Roger Stone was convicted of witness tampering obstruction and lying to congress was scheduled to be incarcerated in a few days. With the commutation of the sentence, Stone isn’t going to be jailed. The Democrats have, as usual, promised deep investigations. Here are the details from Fox News:
House Democrats reacted furiously to President Trump’s Friday move to commute the prison sentence of political operative Roger Stone — demanding an investigation and even legislation to stop similar commutations happening again.
“President Trump’s decision to commute the sentence of top campaign advisor Roger Stone, who could directly implicate him in criminal misconduct, is an act of staggering corruption,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said in a statement on Saturday.
She went on to promise that Congress would “take action” to prevent future such commutations: “Legislation is needed to ensure that no President can pardon or commute the sentence of an individual who is engaged in a cover-up campaign to shield that President from criminal prosecution.”
As usual, San Fran Nan’s utter and complete contempt for the constitution is on full display. The simple fact of the matter is, presidents of the United States have the constitutional power to grant pardons, and reprieves. It’s under Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution. Pelosi’s threat to take this power away from President Trump will require a constitutional amendment, and that isn’t happening.
Stone, who has appealed the conviction and denies wrongdoing, was due to report to prison on July 14 to serve 40 months. But the White House said the president had commuted the sentence “in light of the egregious facts and circumstances surrounding his unfair prosecution, arrest, and trial.”
This presents an interesting question. Roger Stone has appealed the conviction. Considering the actions of the Judge in the case, not to mention the blatant attempted coup against President Trump, does this appeal continue? I’ll let those far better versed in how these work add to out comments. As to why to commutation?
“Roger Stone is a victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media perpetuated for years in an attempt to undermine the Trump Presidency,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement Friday night. “There was never any collusion between the Trump Campaign, or the Trump Administration, with Russia. Such collusion was never anything other than a fantasy of partisans unable to accept the result of the 2016 election.”
This hasn’t stopped the traitors in the Democrat Party from demanding answers and making threats.
In a statement, both Nadler and House Oversight Committee Chair Carolyn Maloney, D-NY, said they intend to seek “an immediate briefing from the White House Counsel on the circumstances surrounding Roger Stone’s commutation.”
“In addition, the Department of Justice should release grand jury materials related to Roger Stone and his communications with the President,” the statement said.
I believe they’ve tried to get access to grand jury material in other cases and been told that the answer is no. As to explaining the reasons for the commutation, perhaps these losers should try reading the news. President Trump was his usual plain talking, blunt self.
Another thing to consider is that this wasn’t a pardon, but a commutation. For all intents and purposes, Roger Stone is still a convicted felon, which is why I’m wondering what happens to his appeals. Hopefully, he can continue his appeal, and since we’ve seen just how deep the corruption was in the FBI and Department of Justice, not to mention the Mueller Inquisition, I’d say he would have a good chance at winning it. There was also the actions of U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson. She is yet another Obama judge, and they’ve shown their willingness to rig cases against President Trump and his friends.
