Good day all. We have been watching what amounts to a Communist Insurrection happening in Portland, Oregon for the last few months. The Mayor of the city and the Governor have shown that they are utterly uninterested in putting down the ongoing riots. There have been calls for President Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and send in federal agents and military personnel.
President Trump, while talking about it, hasn’t done this. The reason being, politically it would be a nightmare. It now looks like that President Trump’s judgment was once again on target. Portland is a hard left blue city, but it looks like the congressional district nearby might just flip from Blue to Red. Here are the details from Fox News:
In the regularly blue state of Oregon, voters in a purple district near the city of Portland are turning away from long-term Democratic incumbent Rep. Peter DeFazio in favor of a young Republican challenger.
That Army Vet? We’ve heard about him before. In fact, they actually made a movie about him for his heroic actions in Paris a few years ago.
Army veteran Alek Skarlatos, 27, gained international fame for halting an extremist attack aboard a Paris-bound train in 2015. He’s also one of House Republicans’ best recruits this year, outraising DeFazio by $1.2 million and outspending him by over $900,000 in the most recent quarter.
It looks like DeFazio may be in trouble. He’s making sounds about “We’re going to win with our ground game!”
“I can’t outspend him. We can’t even match him. He raised more money in a quarter than I’ve ever raised in a year in my life,” DeFazio admitted to supporters on a virtual phone call this week. “But we can outwork him.”
Somehow, I don’t think so. Mr. Skarlatos is an actual, real life hero, and all you have ever been is a left wing political hack.
DeFazio, a populist progressive, is a key player for his party and would be an important figure on infrastructure should Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden win the White House. He’s also been instrumental in Congress’s coronavirus stimulus package discussions as a strong proponent for airline relief.
Populist Progressive. Now there is an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Populists reach out to the people and talk to them. Progressives just tell them to shut up, do what their told and go away after voting once again for their Masters.
While Politico reported Friday that the 73-year-old Democrat is expected to hold onto his seat and DeFazio retains the advantage with an enormous $2.12 million in cash on hand, leadership has allegedly grown nervous over the slim margin.
I think this means that they’ve actually seen real polls, not the garbage that the rest of us see, (and ignore as fake)
DeFazio’s backers say he has taken the challenge seriously and that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has taken note of the race. But Politico noted they also acknowledge there are additional unforeseen variables this election cycle.
And what would those “Unforeseen variables” be?
Devastating wildfires, the absence of college students due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and chaotic protests turned violent in nearby Portland will all play a part in shaping the race.
The fires might be the only part of this that is an “Unforeseen variable. The rest? Not so much. If DeFazio had come out early and demanded that the Antifa and Black Communist Lives Only Matter groups be shut down, and acknowledged that the lockdown was a bad idea, he might be in a better position. Watching Communist Insurrectionists burn Portland down and attack anyone who won’t to their Marxist line tend to focus the attention of potential voters.
As a celebrity GOP candidate who competed on “Dancing with the Stars,” Skarlatos has tried to put DeFazio on the defense. Despite the Democrat’s independent image — breaking with Democrats on several issues — Skarlatos has hit the lawmaker’s support for the Green New Deal.
The ex-National Guardsman has also accused DeFazio of wanting to defund the police.
“I do think people in Oregon are seeing it up and close and personal, unlike a lot of people in the country,” Mike Leavitt, the lead consultant for the Skarlatos campaign, told reporters in an interview about the national conversation on police reform. “I do think that is an issue that resonates with them.”
The Progressive Liberal idiots think that defunding the police is a winning strategy, however, most people are against that. In fact, provided that police receive both better training and promptly dealing with the bad apples, people would like to see more officers hired. Since the Progressives are losing on the issues, they’ve resorted to their old standby, insults.
Leavitt later said that he believed support for his candidate came from interest in a “new face” and “new ideas.” In response, Democrats have accused Skarlatos of loyally backing President Trump without question and hoping to dismantle healthcare protections.
They are talking about that pile of manure known as Obamacare. The Democrats rammed that down the throats of Americans, lied through their teeth about it and managed to get their pet judges to uphold it, culminating in the worst decision of the 21st century, the one where Chief Justice John Roberts rewrote the law from the bench.
Well, since the fine tax that Roberts used to keep this disaster in place has been repealed, a new challenge is coming up and once Amy Barrett is on the court, there is an excellent chance that the fraud known as the Affordable Care Act will join the Soviet Union on the ash heap of history. Trying to use that against Mr. Skarlatos will probably fail. (As it should)
I haven’t seen a lot of polling on the down ticket races, and let’s be honest, they’re probably bogus in any case. That DeFazio is concerned that he might lose is refreshing. He should lose. This clown has never held a job in the Dreaded Private Sector. He certainly has never risked his own life to protect others. I hope the people of Oregon send this member of the Deep State Globalist Uniparty in the retirement he so richly deserves, and elects a true hero, one the voters will know they can count on when the chips are down.
