Good day all. Never let it be said that your average Progressive Liberal Democratic CommuNazi gives a damn about honest, law abiding citizens, especially in New York. They have already made it all but illegal to defend yourself from criminals with a firearm, (or any other weapon), now they want to prevent you from passively protecting yourself.
In this case, we have a New York state legislator who has decided that honest, law abiding people who have no intention of committing a crime, should not be allowed to own body armor. In other words, he wants to make sure that if a criminal shoots at a citizen, they will be killed. Here are the details of this idiocy from Newsmax:
A state lawmaker in New York has introduced a bill making illegal to buy or possess bulletproof vests. The proposed law by assembly member Jonathan Jacobson, a Democrat, would require New York residents who own the body armor to turn it over to police, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
Currently, it is against the law to wear body armor if you are committing a felony. Of course, if you are robbing a bank and getting into a shootout with police, adding this to the list of charges is basically a waste of time.
An existing law in New York bans the use of bulletproof vests while carrying out “any violent felony offense.” But the Beacon noted if Jacobson’s bill becomes law, it would make New York the first state to ban the sale or possession of the body armor.
“Under the proposed legislation, the first offense for the purchase or possession of a body vest would be a Class A misdemeanor, which may result in up to a year in prison,” the group said on the website. “Subsequent offenses would constitute a Class E felony, which carries a potential sentence of up to four years in prison.
“If passed, this law would go into effect sixty days later and anyone currently in possession of a body vest would be required to turn it into the police within the following fifteen days. As is tradition, police are exempt from this new restraint on the right to keep and bear arms.”
Do you know who wears body armor, other then police? Cab, Lyft and Uber drivers, delivery drivers, reporters, security guards basically anyone who goes into an area where some dirtbag looking for drug money might decide to rob them, and since they aren’t in their right minds to begin with, might just shoot their victim for looking at them funny.
Currently, there are no cosponsors for this idiots bill. I would love to know why he actually thought it was a good idea to write it in the first place. I have a sneaking suspicion this CommuNazi is thinking that it will be all the deplorable Maga hat wearing Trump supporters who will be wearing them when they come in to inform this moonbat that his services as a state legislator are no longer required.
Normally I would say that something this stupid would be laughed out of the legislature, but this is New York, and the ruling elite might just pass this POS and send it to Governor Flaming Cuomo, and that murderous totalitarian wouldn’t hesitate to sign it. If you live in New York, call your reps and tell them that this thing needs to be trashed asap.
