Good day all. There has been an interesting protest going on for the last week or so in Canada. A large number of truckers have decided to drive on Ottawa, Canada and protest the Coronavirus mandates that their government has been imposing on them and other Canadians.
I was somewhat aware of the protest, but hadn’t paid all that much attention to it, being in Canada and all. The Canadians tend to be very subservient to their elected officials after all. However, this protest escalated in size and the “Ruling elite” of Canada basically panicked. Here are some of the details from Metro:
Thousands held a loud but peaceful protest in Canada’s capital Ottawa on Saturday against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates, on the streets and snow-covered lawn in front of parliament.
The so-called “Freedom Convoy” started out as a rally of truckers against a vaccine requirement for cross-border drivers, but turned into a demonstration against government overreach during the pandemic with a strong anti-vaccination streak.
“I’m not able to work no more because I can’t cross the border,” said Csava Vizi, a trucker from Windsor who noted he was the family’s sole breadwinner.
“I refuse the vaccine,” he said, calling it dangerous. He spoke from inside his truck in front of parliament.
“It’s not just about the vaccines. It’s about stopping the public health mandates altogether,” said Daniel Bazinet, owner of Valley Flatbed & Transportation in Nova Scotia on the Atlantic coast. Bazinet is unvaccinated, but operates domestically and so is not affected by the cross-border mandate.
This brings up another aspect of the protests and just how determined the assorted governments are to crush any form of dissent. Mr. Bazinet is based in Nova Scotia and that province outlawed people gathering along the route in support. Here are some of those details from Fox News:
The Canadian province of Nova Scotia made it illegal for people to gather along a highway ahead of the “Freedom Convoy” of truckers that made their way across the country in protest of vaccine mandates. The local government issued “a directive under the Emergency Management Act prohibiting protesters from blockading Highway 104 near the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border.”
The directive specifically states supporters of the Freedom Convoy and another protest, the Atlantic Hold the Line event, can’t gather along Highway 104, on the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border. The directive states that “allowing people to gather in those areas would put themselves and others at risk.”
Somehow, I don’t see these people as being in the same vein as the BCLOM thugs. They are Canadians and they tend to protest politely. They aren’t going to stand in the road and inconvenience people.
Those who disobey face fines between $3,000 to $10,000, while corporations face fines between $20,000 and $100,000.
I’m curious about why corporations would be fined. Well it is Canada and the Government always knows best. After all, there is a state of emergency that will never be lifted has been extended every two weeks and all. Still, the “Usual Suspects” in the media and the Canadian government fully expected all these “Fringe” people to drive into Ottawa and run down everyone. So terrified of his own people is their Prime Meathead Minister that he decided that it was time to “Bravely run away and hide” in an undisclosed location. Ouch! I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be a new nickname for the Current Prime Meathead Minister of Canada.
With the pandemic in full swing, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urged Canadians to show support for those helping to keep food on their tables. “While many of us are working from home, there are others who aren’t able to do that — like the truck drivers who are working day and night to make sure our shelves are stocked. So when you can, please #ThankATrucker for everything they’re doing and help them however you can,” he tweeted March 31, 2020.
That was two years ago when the governments of the world decided to take the opportunity to blow up the global economy and institute draconian, anti-liberty mandates. Granted, back then, we didn’t know anywhere near what we know now, thanks to Anthony Fauci’s cover-up regarding the origins of the Wuhan Flu. Now people have had 2 years to learn about the Beer Virus and have just about had enough of the mandates and lock-downs, hence the recent protest in Ottawa.
Trudeau had a chance to thank thousands of them personally over the weekend, as the truckers who’ve assembled what they call the Freedom Convoy to protest COVID vaccine mandates and restrictions cruised into the capital. Instead, he fled — breaking isolation to do it.
On Saturday, the Trudeaus moved from their official Ottawa residence to the classic “undisclosed location.” Dad had started a five-day isolation Wednesday after one of his kids tested COVID-positive — but security accompanied the first family as he fled.
What is it with second generation political hacks anyway? Is this proof that political competence is not passed down from one generation to another? His father, who was not a wimp, (Even if I do despise everything he stood for, but it was Canada so, who cares?), would not have cut and run like Junior did.
While Justin was comfortably in hiding, thousands braved an extreme-cold warning to join the truck drivers who’d come to Parliament Hill from points east and west. Some say they won’t leave until lawmakers remove restrictions — or Trudeau resigns.
Trudeau won’t resign. He’s going to have to be forced out, either by his government collapsing or an election. (There may be other way as well. I’m not up on how the parliamentarian system works) What is rather amusing is just how little stock Cut and Run Justin put into the protest.
Three days before Trudeau holed up, he was dismissive of the rolling thunder approaching: “The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa, who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing, do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to ensure our rights, our freedoms, our values as a country.”
Ms. Torrence then stuck the knife in and cruelly twisted it. She went and compared Cut and Run Justin with another loser, Bumbles Dementia.
President Biden isn’t the only leader lecturing his citizens on this continent about what’s approved thought — and clueless about the widespread anger over nearly two years of seemingly endless “emergency” rules and restrictions.
The reason people are demanding that all these mandates and restrictions end is simple. We’ve been dealing with this for 2 years. The virus is mutating into a milder version, it was never as dangerous as the “Powers that be” claimed it was, and the vaccines are turning out to not be actual vaccines, and are of questionable efficacy. People are saying, “That’s it! Enough is enough!”
One of the interesting little tidbits has been the Mostly Sleazy Media. They have been venting about this convoy/protest, calling the truckers “Fascists.” (Of course, the Progressive Moonbat class calls anyone who doesn’t toe the Progressive line a Fascist) One of these idiots is Michael Adder, a political cartoonist for the Washington Compost. Here is what this bozo did according to the Daily Wire:
On Friday, Michael Adder, the political cartoonist for the Washington Post, mocked the Freedom Convoy of truckers crossing the breadth of Canada and heading for the nation’s capital, Ottawa, to protest against Canada’s vaccine mandate. Adder created a cartoon of numerous trucks, all labeled in capital letters “FASCISM,” adding the hashtags, “fascism” and “supplychain.”
Roughly five hours later, The Post printed an opinion piece attacking the convoy. The author, David Moscrop, wrote, “The movement shares an affinity with Trumpist toxic authoritarianist politics.”
“Time and time again we learn the lesson, or at least come across it, that teaches us that rage-soaked antigovernment types can’t be reasoned with,” Moscrop continued. “This time around, the convoy has produced an incoherent ‘memorandum of understanding’ premised upon a misunderstanding of government and absurd demands. Of course, the memo should be ignored. It’s the product of a temper tantrum.”
The Compost, which is owned by one of the ultra rich billionaires, then went on the standard leftist tear about “Wealth inequality” and all the other crap they love to spew. The other thing that these nitwits were hoping for was violence. This was one of the reason that Brave Prime Minister Trudeau so bravely ran away and hid under the blankets.
From the pictures I saw, there were one or two people that did try to start trouble, but the protesters ignored them. There were reports of Canadian Protesters violently creating snow angels on the grounds of Parliament, but this has not yet been confirmed.
The simple fact of the matter is, people have had it with the whole Covid-19 crap and they are telling their “alleged” representatives that it’s long past time to put this whole thing to bed. The “Ruling Elites’ don’t want to of course. They like having absolute power. What they should consider is that this protest happened in the dead of winter. If there hasn’t been any changes, I think the summer months are going to be a bit warmer than “Climate Change” can be responsible for.
