Good day all. Los Angeles is suffering an unprecedented crime wave, all of which can be laid at the feet of their District Attorney, George Gascon. This Woke moonbat would rather prosecute police officers who do their jobs and citizens who defend themselves against the very criminals Gascon lets go. Now it’s actually affecting interstate Commerce.
Recently, freight trains that were parked were getting looted. Millions of dollars of goods were carted off or thrown on the ground. The railway company has been demanding that action be taken, and criminals actually be prosecuted. Gascon’s answer to all this? He blamed the railroad for the problems. Here are the details from Fox News:
In December 2021, Adrian Guerrero, UP’s state director of public affairs in California, sent a letter to the district attorney pointing to rising retail theft crime in LA County over the past year as part of the reason train thefts were occurring more frequently and asking for assistance in addressing it on UP railroads. UP says it experienced a 160% increase in criminal rail theft in Los Angeles County over the past year.
Last week, UP urged Gascon to “reconsider” Special Directive 20-07, which allows many misdemeanor cases to be declined or dismissed prior to arraignment unless “factors for considerations” exist.
This is a major issue and affects the entire country.
Gascon is one of the Soros prosecutors. Their goal is dead opposite of what their job description is. They are putting criminals back out on the street, emboldening them to do even worse. By rights, there should be a police presence when these trains are parked, and when the looters come in, they should be swarmed and arrested. Sadly, thanks to George Gascon and others like him, the police see no point in risking themselves. As for Gascon? Here is his response.
Gascon, however, said UP filed fewer criminal cases to the district attorney’s office in 2021 than it did in 2020 or 2019.
“In 2019, 78 cases were presented for filing. In 2020, 56 cases were presented for filing. And in a sharp decline, in 2021, 47 such cases were presented for filing consideration, and over 55% were filed by my office,” Gascon said in his letter to UP. “The charges filed included both felony and misdemeanor offenses alleging burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.”
Gascon continues t make excuses of course.
Gascon added that out of 20 cases that were declined, 10 “were not filed due to the insufficiency of the evidence presented to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, which is our ethical standard to file a criminal case.” The other 10 were not filed because they “involved offenses such as allegations of unhoused individuals within 20 feet of the railroad tracks and simple possession of drugs for personal use — not allegations of burglary, theft or tampering.”
The Railroad does have it’s own police force, but they are also operating under the same guidelines as the LAPD and LA Sheriff’s Department. To put it simply, they can’t just shoot the looters. This fiasco has national implications. These are packages that have been shipped in to the port of Los Angeles.
Currently, we’re having major supply train issues, most of which can be laid at the feet of the politicians who continue to lock things down, using the China Virus as an excuse. I’ve hear a rumor that both trucking companies and the railroads are threatening not to go into Kalifornistan until the political class of Moonbats fixes all the problems they caused.
If that should happen, then all the cargo ships currently offshore will have to look for other ports, up to and including going through the Panama Canal or around the Horn to get to the gulf coast and the east coast ports. If the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump, was still in office, you can bet the railroad wouldn’t be having a problem. Since it affects interstate commerce, it can be made a federal matter. That means Federal Agents, U.S. Attorneys and, if needed, United States Marines. They would put paid to the looters in very short order. I also suspect that President Trump would be having a few choice words with Gruesome Gavin Newsom and that idiot D.A. Gascon. I doubt they would appreciate what he said.
However, we’re stuck with the Joe “Bumbles Dementia” Biden maladministration. That senile idiot, even at the best of times, would screw this up even worse than it is now. Getting the Attorney General, Merrick “Heinrich Himmler” Garland to redirect his attention to actual crimes instead of harassing parents isn’t going to happen. Enjoy the disaster.
