Dementia Maladministration considering gas tax “holiday”

Good day all. If you are like everyone else in the country who owns a car, you know that gas prices have skyrocketed over the last year, thanks to the incompetent stupidity of President Bumbles Dementia. Now the maladministration has deigned to notice the suffering of the masses and is looking at a few ideas.

When the Greatest President of the 21st Century took office, he did everything he could to increase oil, coal and gas production in the United States. When the senile usurper was installed into the White House, he promptly began shutting down production. The result was, not surprisingly, a sudden and rapid increase in the price of fossil fuels. Now the dimwit in chief has come up with yet another “Baldrick like” cunning plan. Here are the details from Newsmax:

The Biden White House and Democrat congressional leaders are weighing a pause on federal taxes on gasoline to help offset rising prices, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Well, that’s a stupid idea, so I can safely guess which political party dreamed it up.

Citing unnamed sources, the Post said Senate Democrat leaders were privately exploring the idea and that their counterparts in the House had also expressed interest in a federal holiday to ease consumer gas prices.

“Every tool is on the table to reduce prices,” the White House said in a statement when asked about the report. While President Joe Biden has already released 50 million barrels from the nation’s petroleum stockpile, “all options are on the table looking ahead.”

There is one option that isn’t being considered of course. That would be exploration, drilling and increased production. Cutting the gas tax temporarily won’t accomplish much, and you can bet your bottom dollar that a number of states will see that and increase their state gas taxes. (Kalifornistan for one)

Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and a group of five other Senate Democrats last week proposed temporarily suspending the federal 18.4 cent-a-gallon gas tax through the end of the year. Kelly plans to pitch the idea to fellow Senate Democrats at a meeting later on Tuesday, a source told Reuters.

And how are we going to pay for this? Are you going to do something radical, like cut out all the crap you’ve larded up the budget with? Normally you would ask about paying for all the roads and bridges that the gas tax is supposed to be used for, but we all know that the Congress just redirects those taxes into crap like interstate bike paths.

Biden has also asked U.S. regulators to probe gasoline prices and last year met with U.S. oil and gas producers over the issue.

They will find, as they always do, that the oil companies are not gouging. They make roughly $0.05/gallon after all their costs, which includes….wait for it…TAXES! The reason gas and energy prices have skyrocketed can be laid at the feet of that drooling, senile idiot.

While I think the American people are way overtaxed, and that reducing both the tax take and the size of government to be good ideas, what this proposal does is nothing. It’s just feel good, show the peons that “We’re care and we are doing something.” Besides, even if they do temporally cut the gas tax, they’ll just raise others. They always do.
