Good day all. This story just broke, so the 72 hour rule applies. Cocaine Mitch “Brainfreeze” McConnell has announced he is stepping down as the minority leader in the Senate.
McConnell is not liked by the Republican base. They consider him the reason the Senate is in the hands of the Evil UpChuck Schumer and the Democrats. He pulled resources from several GOP candidates during the 2022 midterms because they wouldn’t support him as the leader of the Republicans in the Senate. It’s gone downhill from there. There has been a lot of talk of forcing this Jurassic Pol from the leadership. It looks like he’s finally come to the conclusion that it might be best to “Retire” instead of be throw out. Here are the details from Fox News:
Mitch McConnell the longest-serving party leader in Senate history, announced Wednesday he will step away from leadership in November.
McConnell, who turned 82 last week, announced his decision in the well of the Senate shortly after noon, a place where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front-row seat afforded the party leaders.
“One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,” he said in his floor speech. “So I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.”
The dramatic decision, which will set up a leadership election in the GOP conference with several likely candidates, comes as Republicans have expressed increasing discontent with McConnell’s handling of the bipartisan border bill and national security supplemental package that included aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
Part of the problem was that Cocaine Mitch was interested in all things Mitch McConnell and not in what was best for his constituents and the United States. He is also a member in good standing of the Deep State Uniparty D.C. Swamp.
When the Greatest president of the 21st century, Donald Trump, defeated Felonia von Pantsuit, McConnell first thought he would be able to steer President Trump to not really securing the borders and get another war started, along with shipping more jobs overseas.
President Trump showed that he was in charge and he meant what he said, Make America Great Again. About the only thing the two of them truly agreed on was cleaning up the disgrace that is the United States Judicial system. When the Tainted Election of the 2020 happened and the Worst President* in History was installed, McConnell was quite helpful when he should have hammered him.
The Fox News Story continues with what looks like a eulogy and in effect it is. McConnell is basically dead politically and is going to complete his current term and then leave the Senate…finally. McConnell is one of the “Poster children” in Congress that should want you to repeal the 17th Amendment and pass a new amendment limiting terms. Good by and good riddance to him.
