Ford’s TwitterX account posts anti-Israel rants. Ford reports the account was “Compromised”

Good day all. Recently Ford Motor Corporation’s TwitterX account posted some flagrantly antisemitic and anti-Israel tweets. This set off a lot of people who started blasting Ford. Others, such as myself, thought that the tweets were odd.

It now looks like that either someone inside Ford got access to the TwitterX account or it was hacked from outside. Ford pulled the tweets very quickly. Here are the details from Fox Business News:

A series of anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian messages were sent from Ford Motor Co.’s account on the X social media platform on Monday before being deleted, sparking speculation over the source of the posts.

Now for some due diligence. I own shares in Ford and I own a Ford. However, I did not see the tweets in question, primarily due to not spending all that much time on TwitterX.

The company says its account was “briefly compromised.”

This makes me think it was an employee of Ford who had access to the Ford Twitter account. It’s possible that this was someone who lost his or her job and found he or she still had access and used it. Another possibility is that it was someone inside who is, frankly, a hard left pro-terrorist antisemite who decided that now was the time. The final possibility is that some outside hackers got into the account. That is something for law enforcement to deal with.

Several X users wrote that it appeared Ford’s account had been hacked, including pro-Israel Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., who said the automaker’s account “must have been hacked by the Free Palestine movement.”

Most people believe this is the case. There is no way that Ford would intentionally insult a large number of customers by getting into the middle of the Israel/Hamas war.

When reached for comment, Ford told FOX Business in a statement, “Our X account was briefly compromised and the previous three posts were not authorized or posted by Ford. We are investigating the issue.”

I suspect that investigation is involving the FBI and TwitterX. They are probably trying to track down the IP address where the hack or unauthorized access to the account came from. I have little doubt that if they find that this was someone in the United States, they are going to end up spending some time in the House of Many Doors. I doubt we will hear much about it. Ford is going to do what it can to make this fiasco go away.
