Oh No! Washington ComPost is losing experienced people!

Good day all. It’s no secret that the Washington ComPost, formally known as the Washington Post, has a long history of being shills for the Democrat Party. For some reason, a few years ago, Jeff Bezos decided to by the newspaper.

The ComPost, really took a nosedive into the sewer when Barack Obama conned his way into the Oval Office. Like many Fake News companies, they expected Felonia von Pantsuit to mope the floor with Donald Trump. When Trump won, the ComPost went all in on helping the Democrats and the Deep State Get Trump!

Fast forward to the last year and something rather interesting started to happen. Jeff Bezos, apparently growing tired of setting his money on fire supporting the communist rag the Compost is now, decided to make a few changes, starting with the editorial pages. This set off the Leftards working at the ComPost with many quitting in a huff. They apparently thought that they were to important and Bezos wold beg for them to stay.

Well that didn’t happen. Instead, Bezos has been revamping the entire organization and has offered employees buyout packages. It seems that a fair number have decided to take the offer and are leaving. This has led to people saying that the ComPost is “Bleeding talent. Here are the details from the Daily Wire:

The Washington Post is “bleeding talent,” with a number of longtime employees — from veteran opinion columnists to the obituary section chief — accepting buyout offers that the Jeff Bezos-owned outlet extended to staff in late May.

The buyout offer was made when it was announced that the ComPost would be making a “Strategic Change” and that people might not be comfortable with it.

Early in July, Washington Post CEO Will Lewis sent an email to staffers suggesting that they might especially want to consider the buyouts if they “do not feel aligned with the company’s plan” to reinvent itself.

And the changes that the leadership team is planning?

Among the changes explicitly mentioned by Lewis was a shift in the opinion section to “champion timeless American values” and to “reconnect” with the audience in a way that rekindled trust.

Well good luck with that! The Washington ComPost torched that trust decades ago. Still, it will be fun to watch and see what happens. They’ve already lost a number of Leftard Bubble People who are furious that their echo chamber is actually going to consider other ideas. You know, things like the Free Enterprise system, the Constitution and putting criminals in jail.

In the days since Lewis sent that email, several big names have announced their plans to depart The Washington Post — including political reporter Dan Balz, obituary section chief Adam Bernstein, reporter Philip Bump, as well as columnists David von Drehle, Catherine Rampell, and Jonathan Capehart. The Post’s original TikTok pioneer, Dave Jorgenson, legal reporter Ann Marimow, and sports writer Dan Steinberg also took the buyout.

Reporter Joe Davidson says he left after being told that one of his opinion columns was “too opinionated.”

It’s just an absolute exodus,” one staffer told Politico of the buyouts, saying that no one was certain whether there was a plan in place to compensate for the vast amount of experience and expertise that was on its way out the door.

One of the problems with the editorial pages is that they are nothing more than Democrat talking points bordering on propaganda. Any opinions that even leaned slightly to the right were attacked and the writers all but assaulted. Because of this, the one group that the organization needs to survive, the average American, stopped reading them. Worse, the Republicans knowing what a complete waste of time it was to talk to ComPost Journalists, stopped picking up the phone when they called.

Watching the turmoil from the outside, Poynter News wondered: “How much longer can The Washington Post bleed talent?”

Until all that so called talent is gone and they start bringing in new people who will actually report the news, not manufacture it?

The turmoil at the Post — and, indeed, the high-profile exits — did not begin with the buyouts offered in May. Rather, the unrest within the organization dates back at least to the resignation of Executive Editor Sally Buzbee in June 2024. Buzbee left, according to several sources, because she was not on board with the new organizational structure Lewis planned to introduce.

One of those changes was not endorsing Kackling Kamala Harris for President. That really set off the spoiled brats at the ComPost.

A slew of resignations followed the outlet’s shock decision not to endorse former Vice President Kamala Harris. A statement from the Editorial Board read in part, “The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement of a presidential candidate in this election. Nor in any future presidential election. We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates.”

Now I wrote about some of these changes back in 2024 and how the ComPost Staff literally flipped out. This included the Bezos writing an editorial announcing that the paper wouldn’t be endorsing anyone for President. The Democrats exploded and the Republicans were pleasantly surprised The only thing that would have made things better wold have been Bezos and Lewis endorsing President Trump. (That would have been very entertaining if it had happened)

In the months that followed, longtime columnist Jennifer Rubin left the outlet — followed by opinion editor David Shipley and columnist Ruth Marcus.

And while a number of those who left The Washington Post have started or plan to start their own independent ventures — Rubin and Jorgenson, for example — some have been snapped up by other major outlets, including The Athletic, The Atlantic, Reuters, and The New York Times.

First, all those who left and are starting their own independent ventures? They are about to find out good and hard that unless they appeal to a broad spectrum of people, they are going to fail miserably. You have seen a number of center and center/right people start things like their own subscription web sites or video channels and they are doing fairly well. The best ones try to balance out news stories and report just the facts. They keep their opinions in the Opinion sections, not in the news stories. Most journalists have a great deal of trouble doing this.

The full impact of the buyouts, which reportedly targeted employees who had been with the outlet for 10 years or longer, remains to be seen. The offer is available to employees until the end of July.

Honestly, I’m not all that worried. The Los Angeles Times owner is doing the same thing and they are seeing a huge load of crap talent head for the door. With the sale of Paramount/CBS to Skydance, look for a virtual massacre of the CBS News division. I won’t be surprised of 60 Minutes is canceled, especially since they are the reason for all the issues with the sale in the first place. There is a rumor that Bari Weiss, she of the Twitter Files, is going to be put in charge of the News division with instructions to clean house.

The times, they are changing and the Leftards who have been spewing fake news and garbage for years can’t see it coming. They are so out of touch with reality that it’s almost a medical condition. I think that in the next few years, you’re going to see the fall of the “Journalist” and the return of the Reporter.

Yes, there is a difference. A reporter “reports” what he or she sees, hers etc. They do not editorialize in their stories. They get out of their offices and talk to people and go to places. Journalists love to tell you how they feel and their opinions of an event they are covering. They also tend to not go out if they don’t have to and just spew talking points they are given by spokesmen. (Usually Democrats. They ignore Republicans if they can) I think a lot of these people taking the buyouts or just quitting are going to be shocked that The Washington ComPost actually turns around, grows the number of subscribers and returns to being the Washington Post. We shall see of course.
