Good day all. Recently, Dr. Anthony Fauci was called to testify in front of a Senate committee. He obviously didn’t want to be there and refused to answer any questions, asserting his right to remain silent under the 5th Amendment.
There is some question, actually a lot of questions, on whether or not Fauci could assert the 5th Amendment since he received on of the Biden Autopen pardons. All the questions pertained to his actions during the period that is covered by his blanket pardon, so there is no way he could be prosecuted by the Department of Justice.
Fauci’s refusal to answer questions didn’t sit well with Senator Rand Paul. Fauci’s lawyer, who apparently, was being an obnoxious jerk, was expelled from the hearing room. Then there was the release of Fauci’s diary and did that make him look really bad. Now the Committee is looking to refer Fauci to the DoJ for contempt charges. Here are some of the details from Fox News:
Dr. Anthony Fauci’s words are coming back to haunt him after resurfaced comments from a 2022 interview with CNN showed a complete 180 on his attitude toward testifying before Congress.
“I am very happy to testify before any congressional oversight committee,” Fauci told CNN in 2022.
Well, as the old saying goes, that was then, this is now and Fearful Fauci claimed up tighter than a Mafia Don.
Fauci, under his lawyers’ guidance, did not answer a single question from Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., or others on the committee about his COVID-19 pandemic response or gain-of-function research, instead invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times.
This is a far cry from what Fauci said four years ago.
“I have nothing to hide. I can explain and validate everything that I’ve done… I’m going to do what I need to do, and that is cooperate fully, because we have nothing to hide at all,” he added in the CNN interview roughly four years ago.
Yeah, he had nothing to hide, which is why he did his best to hide everything he could, especially the origins of the Covid-19 virus.
Fauci argued during Wednesday’s hearing that Paul, who recently released more than 1,000 pages of his personal diary entries, has an “obvious obsession” with pushing for his prosecution.
Rand Paul isn’t the only one who thinks Fauci should be prosecuted. I suspect that most of the planet, if they knew what he had done, would be clamoring for him to be prosecuted and convicted. I haven’t read the entries, (I’m not sure they’ve been made publicly available), but from what I’ve read around the internet, it was basically his love note to himself. One of the kindest things I saw said it was classic narcissism.
Meanwhile, Rand Paul, who has spearheaded the investigation of Fauci, is looking to challenge whether the COVID leader was legally justified in pleading the Fifth Amendment, given that he is a recipient of a presidential pardon.
That is going to be an interesting issue. Technically, the pardon protects Fauci from anything during the covered period. This includes lying to congress and any other federal crimes he may or may not have committed in that time period. He has absolutely no reason to not answer the questions and take the 5th.
This brings us to the responses to Fauci’s non-testimony. To say that people weren’t happy is a bit of an understatement. Many people wanted to know what the story was with the diary Fauci maintained and what he was actually thinking. Others just flat out let fly at Fauci calling him a power mad tyrant. Here are those details from Fox News:
Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, doubled down Thursday on his criticism of Dr. Anthony Fauci after the former top health official declined to answer questions during a Senate hearing, calling him Democrats’ “hero.”
Appearing on “Hannity” Thursday evening, Moreno argued Fauci’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic was driven by a desire for power rather than public health.
“This is about controlling American people,” Moreno said. “He treated us like lab rats.”
It could have been worse. Fauci could have treated people the same way he treated puppies.
Moreno said Fauci’s approach to the pandemic reflected what he believes Democrats ultimately want from government.
“You want to give power to Democrats, socialists and communists in this country? They will take away your freedoms, they will take away your liberties, they’ll control you, they’ll replace you,” he said. “They want to systematically destroy this country, and that’s why Fauci is their hero. He got to do what they only fantasize about, which is total and complete control of the American people.”
Fauci is a paid up member of the Deep State, which does not have the best interests of the American people are the country in mind. What Fauci did was provide a template that a certain party will try and use again in the future to institute the fascist totalitarian state they so desire. By the way, that party isn’t the Republican Party.
A frustrated Moreno told Fauci that the former White House chief medical advisor had inspired him to run for the Senate because of his influence over COVID-19 policies.
“Here I am sitting in front of you six years later saying, ‘Who the f— do you think you were for doing that? It is a total disgrace what you did to this country,'” Moreno said.
To be fair, it wasn’t just Fauci. Yes, he provided the framework, but it was the states, primarily the blue states, that locked down the country and threatened prison to anyone who dared to simply walk around minding their own business.
Asked Thursday whether he stood by those remarks, Moreno argued Fauci’s influence set back children’s health for decades and devastated small businesses.
“The reality is this guy damaged a lot of things in this country,” he said.
Apparently, Fauci has a long history of damaging things. He was instrumental in screwing up the responses to AIDS when it first showed up. He also pushed treatments that weren’t that effective and did cause harm to people. He also blocked things that might have mitigated the AIDS crises.
Although Fauci received a pardon from former President Joe Biden, Moreno noted that state investigations remain possible. On Thursday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced his office would open an investigation after Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right during Wednesday’s hearing.
Fauci’s autopen pardon is only goof for federal crimes. He can be prosecuted if state attorneys general determine that he broke state laws with his actions. Honestly, that might be a bit of a stretch, since you might have Fauci claiming protection under the supremacy clause in the Constitution. In all probability, by the time everything is sorted out legally, Fauci will probably be dead. He is in his late 80’s.
What can be done is making sure that there is never another Anthony Fauci. We can also completely and utterly destroy his reputation, not in great shape as it is, for the history books. He should be regarded in the same way as Dr. Josef Mengele.
