Good day all. There is a ton of news regarding the mess in Charlottesville, but not a lot of actual information. So, I’ve decided to look at how hypocritical the Democrats are when it comes to pushing for a $15 minimum wage.
It seems that the Democrats, (Primarily), are not paying their interns that $15/hour they want the Dreaded Private Sector to pay. They aren’t paying the current minimum wage either. What they are paying the interns is…nothing. Zero. The Big Donut. Here are the details from the Employment Policies Institute:
Today, the Employment Policies Institute (EPI) released a new analysis showing that at least 95 percent of U.S. House and Senate cosponsors of recently introduced $15 federal minimum wage legislation hire interns who earn no wage at all. In total, 174 of the 184 “Raise the Wage Act” cosponsors and primary sponsors hire unpaid interns.
And how are all these political “Worthies” who are shafting their interns? It’s a veritable who’s who of left wing Proglodyte elitists.
In the Senate, Senators Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Cory Booker, Chris Murphy and 20 other cosponsors hire unpaid interns.

Do any of these Proglodytes pay their interns at all? A few do, but most don’t pay anywhere near what they are demanding the employers in the “Dreaded Private Sector pay.
Of those that do offer a stipend, Senator Bernie Sanders is the only member who pays an hourly wage. However, Senator Sanders’ office only pays interns $12 an hour, short of his $15 proposal.
Well, I do see why Comrade Bernie isn’t paying the full $15 an hour. He has all those lawyers at probably $200+ per hour he has to pay to keep his wife out of a federal prison. How about those in the House of Representatives?
In the House of Representatives, Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Keith Ellison, Maxine Waters and 145 other cosponsors do not pay their interns.
“It’s hypocritical to rally for a $15 minimum wage when these lawmakers don’t pay their own entry level employees a cent,” said Michael Saltsman, EPI’s managing director. “Policymakers might object to paying interns because it will reduce the number of available opportunities–but the same dynamic applies in the private sector, where businesses are forced to cut staff or close down.”
But, but but Democrat politicians are Special! They have to have a staff of unpaid interns slaving away so they can maintain their plantation lifestyle! Who are you to tell them how to run their offices? Don’t you know that the Ruling Elite isn’t required, or expected to live under the same rules as the lowly serfs out there in flyover country.
The reality here is simple. None of these morons have ever had to make a payroll in the Dreaded Private Sector. Most of them have never been IN the Dreaded Private Sector and don’t have a clue about how a business works. For them, if they need more money, they just vote themselves an increase ans stick it to the taxpayers.
In the real world, when you force additional costs on a business, they are very limited in how they can deal with them. They can cut hours, they can lay off staff, they might raise prices. In many cases, because the profits just went away, they will close their doors. All those people that the Proglodytes purport to want to help? They have helped them. Right on to the unemployment line. But hey, Proglodyte Democrats. As long as it makes them feel good, it must be good.
