Good day all. The People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornistan is about to decree that voting is mandatory for all the serfs, slaves and peons. Little things like freedom to choose to vote or not to vote will be ended, for your own good of course.
There are a few countries where you are required to vote, and if you don’t, you can be prosecuted. The United States doesn’t require this. We consider the right to vote to also mean the right NOT to vote. In single party states such as Kalifornistan or cities such as Chicago or New York City, there really isn’t any point in voting since the system has been rigged so much by the ruling Democratic CommuNazis. Still, Kalifornistan being Kalifornistan, they have decided making you vote for your enslavers is a good thing. Here are the details from MSN:
Following a series of sweeping actions to expand access to voting in recent years, a California lawmaker is pushing to require voters to cast a ballot in future elections.
The proposal, introduced in the state Assembly on Tuesday, would be unprecedented and probably challenged in court should it ultimately become law. It would place the burden for determining the civil penalty and the ultimate punishment on the secretary of state, California’s chief elections officer.
“Democracy is not a spectator sport — it requires the active participation of all its citizens,” the bill’s author, Assemblyman Marc Levine, D-San Rafael, said in a written statement. “California is a national leader on expanding voting rights to its citizens. Those rights come with a responsibility by registered voters to cast their ballot and make sure that their voice is heard by their government.”
Considering everything that the Kalifornistan Supreme Soviet has done to suppress the constitutional rights of people, forcing people to vote, even if they hate all the choices presented does seem to be the next “logical” step.
Levine’s effort, Assembly Bill 2070, would require every Californian who registers to vote to “cast a ballot, marked or unmarked in whole or in part, at every election held within the territory within which the person resides.” AB 2070 has yet to be referred to a policy committee and is unlikely to be considered until the spring.
I fully expect this to pass and that jerk Newsom to sign it into law. I also expect that people refusing to comply will be tossed into slave labor camps gulags reeducation centers fined and or jailed.
Voter turnout in California has been increasing in recent elections. In November 2018, 64.5% of the state’s registered voters cast ballots — the highest percentage for any nonpresidential general election since 1982.
And some of those voters are actually United States Citizens, and alive.
Various academic studies through the years have sought to determine whether one political party would benefit more than others should voting be mandatory.
Oh it will. I expect that it will benefit the Democratic CommuNazi party, since they do not come up with things like this unless that know it will benefit them.
Supporters of such efforts have argued it could inspire elected officials to better represent the interests of a broader spectrum of citizens.
Oh that’s hilarious! Kalifornistan is, for all intents and purposes, a single party authoritarian state rapidly devolving into a totalitarian state. They have rigged the system to such an extant that any other party, (other then the Democratic CommuNazis), have no chance of winning.
Opponents, on the other hand, have said that mandatory voting could be in conflict with the right to free speech guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution.
That’s a given. The right to vote is sacrosanct. So is the right to protest. One way to protest is to not vote. Since way to many places have no competition for elected offices, there is not point in wasting the time to go to the polls. (This covers both sides of the aisle by the way)
As I said before, this will probably pass and that moron governor will sign it. It will be interesting to see what the penalties will be. I wouldn’t put it past those tyrannical twerps to actually make it a felony. I have little doubt that this will be tossed if it reaches the courts. On the other hand, we do have that Deep State swamp dweller, John Roberts. I’m sure he will discover that this is just a tax and that mandating people to vote is just fine.
