Good day all. The Dreyfus Flynn Affair is all but concluded with the Department of Justice dropping the charges against General Michael Flynn. There are some “I’s” to be dotted and some “T’s” to be crossed, but General Flynn is a free man.
Now some of you may be wondering at the title of this post, where I started by referring to this as the Dreyfus Affair. The answer, for anyone who is not historically challenged, is simple. It refers to a French political scandal involving Captain Alfred Dreyfus. The story is involved and detailed, however, the short version is that Captain Dreyfus was railroaded on bogus charges for the simple reason that he was Jewish. He spent years on the infamous Devil’s Island before the real culprit was identified. He was finally exonerated, his rank restored and he served in World War 1.
This brings us to the frame job of General Flynn. He was accused of lying to the FBI, arrested, bankrupted and blackmailed into pleading guilty to one charge after the prosecution threatened to arrest his son. He replaced his original lawyers with Attorney Sydney Powell, and she went after the DoJ and the FBI, while trying to get Judge Sullivan to reject the plea and allow a trial to go forward.

Judge Sullivan was a rather mixed bag in this case. He was furious that the prosecution was playing games, however he was not ready to rescind the guilty plea. This didn’t even slow down Ms. Powell as she continued digging for exculpatory evidence, and boy did she hit the mother lode. Among the documents that the Prosecution hid were memos that showed that the call that started the investigation was not illegal and that the original agents wanted to drop General Flynn and move on. Peter Strzok told them to keep Flynn in their sights and basically manufacture a case against him.
The rest, as they say, is history. Flynn was railroaded out and almost imprisoned. Instead, the prosecutor in the case, Brandon Van Grack, suddenly withdrew from the case, and also other cases he was involved in. In an article that must have been painful to write, in the Washington Compost reported:
In court documents filed Thursday, the Justice Department said that “after a considered review of all the facts and circumstances of this case, including newly discovered and disclosed information .?.?. the government has concluded that [Flynn’s interview by the FBI in January 2017] was untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn,” and that it was “conducted without any legitimate investigative basis.”

Judge Sullivan now needs to confirm the request. Theoretically, he doesn’t, however he’s rather annoyed with Van Grack pretty much lying to the court, so it’s a fairly safe bet he will take the justice department’s request and drop the charges.
Now what will happen next? That is a great question. Currently the Democrats are screaming bloody blue murder over the charges being dropped. Considering what Sydney Powell found, the screaming is more like trying to hide the fact that there are some people who are going to be looking for their own attorney’s pretty soon.
Van Grack is probably in major hot water, and I won’t be at all surprised if he isn’t fired and disbarred. He could even be criminally charged, although I have no information on if or even how that may happen. The people who pushed to frame General Flynn? Most are out of the government now. At the very least you can expect General Flynn to go after them in civil court. There is no immunity for willfully violating the rights of people and that is just what happened to General Flynn.
Then there is the original law firm that handled Flynn’s case and talked him into taking the plea deal. It’s since come out that they had a strong conflict of interest, and never told general Flynn about it. There is even indications that they were actually working with the prosecution to tank General Flynn’s defense. There is an excellent chance that they’re going to be slammed with a lawsuit, probably for malfeasance and ethics issues. It may take a few years, but Flynn will get his money back and then some, and I suspect that Ms. Powers is going to get a nice check herself once this is all said and done.

The FBI and the DoJ need a deep and thorough housecleaning. The people who framed General Flynn and tried to overthrow the elected President of the United States need to be identified, prosecuted, and if convicted, sent to our own version of Devil’s Island, a nice Federal Supermax prison. Well, it looks like John Durham is also looking at the Flynn Case along with everything else. We shall see what happens next.
