Princeton University divests itself of Woodrow Wilson

Good day all. With all the “Wokiness” going on, some people started wondering when Princeton University would start purging one of their alumni, President Woodrow Wilson. Well wonder no more, the purging has begun.

In order to understand why Wilson is being expunged from Princeton, you need to do something Progressives, Liberals and current college students are loath to do. Actually study history. Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States and managed to get the United States into World War 1. Before that he was the governor of New Jersey, and before that he was the 13th president of Princeton University, his alma mater.

Another thing about Woodrow Wilson, he was also a true blue screaming racist of the Klan variety. He also hated the Constitution of the United States and ignored it whenever he thought he could get away with it. That part isn’t why Princeton is flushing Wilson down the memory hole, (They actually agree with the part on ignoring the constitution), it was his outright racism. Wilson considered blacks, Asians and certain groups of Caucasians, (People from the Balkans I believe), to be inferior to Northern Europeans. As president, he oversaw segregating the military and government offices. This is why Princeton today has decided that Wilson must be expunged, Stalin style. Here are the details from Fox News:

Princeton University will remove former President Woodrow Wilson’s name from its public policy school and a residential college, the school’s president announced Saturday, June 27th. Christopher Eisgruber announced the institution’s decision in a statement published on the school’s website. He cited Wilson’s “racist views and policies” as the main factor in the decision.

“The trustees conclude that Woodrow Wilson’s racist thinking and policies make him an inappropriate namesake for a school or college whose scholars, students, and alumni must firmly stand against racism in all its forms,” the statement read.

The trustees voted Friday to remove the name of the public policy school, which will hence be known as The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, while the college will simply be called First College.

As much as I despise the progressives Taliban like desire to destroy everything they deem bad, I really can’t get to worked up over trashing Wilson. He was a petty little tyrant and a true racist. Oh, by the way. Would you care to play “Guess the party” that Wilson was a member of? Give up? Yes, he was a Democrat.

The Wilson College was set to close in two years following the construction of two new residential colleges, but Eisgruber did not want to make students “identify with the name of a racist president” during that time.

Oh I agree. We mustn’t damage the woke psyche of the precious snowflakes by forcing them to live someplace named after a former president of the United States and of Princeton University itself. Why think of all the therapy puppies they would need?

The trustees cited Wilson’s “segregationist policies,” by which he segregated multiple federal agencies and his Cabinet after decades of integration following Reconstruction. The New York Times noted that while Wilson may not have led the segregationist efforts, he “doubled down” when challenged on the topic and rationalized segregation as a “strategy to keep racial peace.” Wilson also blocked a Japanese proposal to include racial equality as a founding principle to the League of Nations, Politico has reported.

And that idiocy may have helped lead the way to Pearl Harbor and World War Two. Meanwhile, the purging isn’t limited to just Princeton.

Monmouth University took a similar step earlier this month by removing Wilson’s name from its main campus building. Wilson Hall will be renamed The Great Hall at Shadow Lawn and refitted as a community space, with the goal of making it “more inviting to students,” the New Jersey university said.

Needless to say, these changes aren’t making everyone happy.

A prominent Princeton alum reached out to Fox News, saying: “Chris Eisgruber had until now been a rare academic leader willing to stand up against the woke leftist mobs overrunning America’s college campuses. In the minds of many, his name was synonymous with academic freedom and rigor.”

Now he’s just another campus coward, too terrified of the mob to make rational decisions. I’m furious about this, even though Woodrow Wilson was a terrible human being.”

This one is actually a conundrum for me. Woodrow Wilson was everything I despise in a politician. He was an elitist who favored rule by an unelected elite, essentially a European style royalty. He had nothing but contempt for the Constitution he was sworn to uphold, defend and protect, and was quick to discard it at every opportunity.

His arrogance with regards to the Europeans at the end of World War One was returned with utter contempt by them, and his ideas regarding the armistice treaty that ended the war, while not bad, totally missed the mindset of the allies. They wanted revenge against Germany and they weren’t about to let some jumped up colonial stand in their way. For those who study history, the Treaty of Versailles led directly to the rise of the Nazis, Adolph Hitler, World War Two, and the “Final Solution.” (That would be the wholesale industrial slaughter of 6 million Jewish men, women and children)

The trustees acknowledged that the decision to change the names might seem “harsh,” but remain committed to preserving Wilson’s record “in all of its considerable complexity,” they said.

Oh I agree that Wilson’s records must be maintained and studied. In fact, he would make an excellent case study on the typical Progressive Liberal Democrat and their utter contempt for everything that made America great. However, ripping his name off buildings and other things should be done for the correct reason, and being “Woke” isn’t it.
