James Comey is whistling past the graveyard

Good day all. With the first conviction in the Coup Attempt against the duly elected President Donald J. Trump, people are wondering who will be the next one getting his or her picture taken while wearing a shiny set of bracelets. One who can’t believe it would be him, is James Comey.

Comey is at the center of the conspiracy to “Get Trump!” and was instrumental in the creation of the Crossfire hurricane investigation. Since he was fired by President Trump, he’s been denying that he did anything wrong and that he should be treated as a hero. He can’t conceive that he might be a target of John Durham’s investigation. Here are the details from Fox News:

Former FBI Director James Comey spoke dismissively of Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation of the origins of the bureau’s Russia probe Sunday, saying he has not been contacted for it and that it is being used as a political tool for President Trump and his supporters.

Why would they contact someone they know will lie to them? No, it’s far better to circle around him like a school of hungry sharks smelling blood in the water.

In an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Comey insisted that everyone involved in the investigation was “trying to do the right thing” and therefore Durham’s probe was not concerning for him.

Oh I can imagine, and I’m not a lawyer, investigator or have any information that isn’t already in the public domain.

A Justice Department Inspector General’s report that there had been a significant number of inaccuracies and omissions in warrant applications the FBI filed with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that allowed them to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The report revealed that the FBI relied on unverified information contained in a dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele.

And, from I’ve read and heard, the IG’s report is just the tip of a very big iceberg. Now that they have their first conviction, (A plea deal it seems), it is going to be very interesting to see what comes next.

Comey, meanwhile, maintains that he and his department had nothing but pure intentions, and implied that Durham’s investigation is just being used by Trump and his supporters as political fodder.

Given that I know what happened during 2016, which is a bunch of people trying to do the right thing consistent with the law, I’m not worried at all about that investigation of the investigation,” he said. “They just want to have an investigation to talk about.”

Meanwhile, Durham’s team is question the “Usual Suspects,” starting with John Brennan.

Last week, Durham’s team questioned former CIA Director John Brennan for some eight hours at CIA headquarters. Brennan later said through a spokesman he was assured he was “not a target.”

And I will believe that when it comes from the office of the Attorney general or the office of United States Attorney John Durham.

Durham’s probe, however, as already led to one conviction, with attorney Kevin Clinesmith pleading guilty and admitting that the altered an email to say that Carter Page was not a source for another government agency. Page has said he worked with the CIA. That email was part of a chain that was used as evidence in the final warrant renewal application in 2017.

And this begs the question, is Clinesmith “Taking one for the team” or is he rolling over on those above him? I do believe that James Comey was in his chain of command as it were. It is quite possible that Clinesmith is rolling over on Comey, and if so, there really isn’t that much of a need to question him, other then set up a perjury trap. Since those have come into disfavor, thanks to the Flynn Affair, Durham’s investigators probably decided it wasn’t worth the effort or the hassle. Now we’re waiting for the next shoe to drop.
