Good day all. One of the states that has an out of control governor is Michigan, currently being incompetently run by Governor Gretchen “Wretched Gretchen” Whitmer. Since the beginning of the Great Panicdemic of 2020, she has abused her authority and devastated the state economy, and stripped the citizens of most of their rights.
This recently led to a group of left wing anarchist nutcases to plot to kidnap Wretched Gretchen. That is being handled by the proper authorities and I’m waiting on a bit more information. From what little I’ve read, these kooks couldn’t plan lunch. That was just the latest, and only unlawful, action taken against Wretched Gretchen. There have also been a number of court cases against her abuse of power, and they have generally gone against her.
The first one was the case against the Barber of Seville Owosso, Karl Manke. Rather then starve to death, he reopened his shop in defiance of Wretched Gretchen’s orders. She tried to ruin then jail him, however the courts put a stop to that. Then other cases burbled up, with the most recent saying that the law that Wretched Gretchen was using to Rule by Decree was unconstitutional and ordered the lockdown lifted.
Wretched Gretchen flipped out, and basically ignored the ruling, instead using some other arcane and obsolete law that was still on the books. Once again, they slapped her down, and ordered her to open the state back up. As expected, Wretched Gretchen asked for a stay of the order. Monday, October 12th, she got her answer, and it wasn’t what she wanted to hear. Here are the details from The Daily Wire:
The Michigan State Supreme Court ruled on Monday that an Oct. 2 decision striking down Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s emergency orders is effective immediately.
The court decided in a 6-1 ruling to deny Whitmer’s request to allow her orders to stay in place until Oct. 30. The administration argued that it needed the extra time to come up with contingency plans and to work with the legislature. The majority decision ruled that the court did not have the authority to grant the request.
“Executive orders issued under that act are of no continuing legal effect,” the court said, according to the Detroit Free Press. “This order is effective upon entry.”
Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield, a Republican, celebrated the ruling in a message posted on Twitter.
“Another big win at the Supreme Court today!” Chatfield said. “The law is the law, and partisan politics can’t change that. The people will finally have their voices heard in this process. The House is in again tomorrow, and I hope the Governor is ready to cooperate. It’s time to work together!”
Fat chance of that! Wretched Gretchen has been acting like a Turd World Tyrant for months and people have had enough of it. I suspect her antics are one of the reasons those fruitcakes thought it wold be a great idea to kidnap her. (Honestly, I would have thought they would have planned to hang her or something. Kidnap? Now you cans see why I’m waiting for more information) In any case, it gets even worse for Wretched Gretchen.
The court also issued another decision in a 4-3 ruling that Whitmer did not have the authority to extent emergency orders past April 30, when her first emergency declaration timed out, without support of the legislature. The ruling underscored the court’s earlier decision on Oct. 2 striking down Whitmer’s lockdown rules.
Now Wretched Gretchen has found a way to maintain some of her tyrannical powers. She’s using a law that was passed during the Spanish Flu 100 years ago. It’s about as relevant today as a horse and buggy. However, other aspects of her commands have been tossed into the trash.
Other parts of Whitmer’s emergency order, such as extended unemployment benefits, are now scrapped unless the governor can work with the Republican-controlled state legislature to put new benefits in place. The legislature passed such a fix last week and tied it with another bill that increased legal protection for businesses facing lawsuits over the pandemic. Whitmer, unable to sign one without signing the other, rejected both saying that businesses had enough protection.
Wretched Gretchen could not care less about businesses in her state. Recently, she threatened to shut down the auto manufacturing plants because they weren’t kowtowing to her whims. Nothing came of it, and I suspect someone quietly spoke to her and asked if she was suicidal. (The unions would have crucified her for something that stupid)
The ancient law she is trying to use now will also come up in front of the courts. That will take some months no doubt, by which time the election will have been concluded. The polls are saying it’s going to be a landslide for the Democrats, and Michigan will go solidly blue. I don’t see that myself.
People are past furious and are now flat out enraged at Wretched Gretchen’s performance. It isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that the Republicans increase their seats in the state legislature, to the point where they can consider impeaching Wretched Gretchen. In any case, the Michigan Supreme Court has issued a major win for the civil rights of the citizens of the state.
