CNN thinks gas prices dropping $1 a gallon is like a tax cut

Good day all. Gas prices have been coming down from their Biden high of over $5 dollars a gallon to about $3.80-$4.00 dollars a gallon. This is still almost $2.00 dollars higher then it was in the final months of the administration of the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump. Still, CNN think people should see it as like a $100 a month tax cut.

Oil and natural gas prices have skyrocketed under the maladministration of the worst president in American history, Joe Bumbles Dementia Biden. With that has come shortages of everything for the first time since World War 2, and that was due to, well, a World War and rationing. This time the supply chain issues can be laid at the feet of Dementia Joe Biden. With the price of gas down from it’s highs, Dementia Joe and CNN have been crowing about the “Historic drop” in fuel costs. Here are the details from the Post Millennial:

On Friday, CNN posted an article claiming that the recent minimal reduction in gas prices from the historic record-breaking high of $5.02 a gallon in June to the still high price of $3.92 should be seen by Americans as equivalent to a tax cut or a raise.

“Next time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise” Chris Isidore writes in the analysis piece noting that the gas has fallen from pillar to smaller pillar by about $1 in 67 consecutive days.

Isidore’s logic: “Since the typical US household uses about 90 gallons of gas a month, the $1.10 drop in prices equals a savings of $98.82.”

This is a small issue with this claim, however. The price of gas is is still almost double what it was under President Trump.

According to Fox News and Politico, between 2017 and 2019 the national gas average moved between the historic lows of $2.23 and $2.37 per gallon while many states had average gas averages under $2.

Under Joe Biden’s presidency the country has faced consistent record high inflation, unprecedented supply chain shortages, citizens laden with record breaking debt, and an economy in recession, despite attempts to redefine the word by the White House.

By any definition, other than whatever sewage the White House spews out, the economy is in a shambles and is only going to get worse, especially with the Biden/Manchin Build Back Broke Lite plan.

Biden’s back-to-back $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill helped lead the economy to the highest inflation rates seen in 40 years in America. Gas prices began to rise in 2021, along with all the other goods affected by inflation, and by December had reached a staggering 58.1 percent hike in cost compared to the year before. Inflation was soaring to record heights in America well before Putin invaded Ukraine but his military actions caused the gas prices to skyrocket even more.

This is due to two things. The United States embargo on Russian Oil, and Bumbles Dementia’s all out assault on the American energy sector. In less then a year, we went from energy independence under president Trump, to begging the Saudis to pump more oil. (Which they can’t. They are maxed out now)

CNN received backlash on Twitter for the article, with many noting the discrepancies in prices cited by CNN.

Steve Scalise summed it up with “Let’s be clear: The national average price per gallon is $1.52 higher than when Trump left office. That’s a 64 percent INCREASE in gas prices under Biden—not a ‘cut,’ as CNN wants you to think. No one is falling for the delusional propaganda the radical left is peddling.”

There were several other posts from Twitter slamming the morons at CNN. Gas prices have come down, but this is due to people being unable to actually afford to go anywhere, not because the maladministration is reversing their assault on the oil industry. (They may be looking at shutting down the Permian Basin oil fields in Texas, the most productive fields in the world as I understand it)

Most economists who aren’t in the tank for the Maladministration are saying that the current lowering of energy costs is temporary and they are expected to skyrocket again. Thanks to the high cost of Diesel fuel, shipping costs are now starting to break trucking companies as well as farms. If we don’t see a significant change downwards in the next few months, we might be looking at full economic collapse, an economic depression and potentially, for the first time in over a century, possible starvation. I hope all of you that voted for that corrupt, senile pedophile are happy. We aren’t seeing any more mean tweets.
